Uncanny X-Men #516 Spoilers

Spoilers: The five superpowered beings from last issue force Scalphunter to fly a cargo plane carrying 5 Predator X's to Utopia. According to their leader, it's is in order to "save" mutantkind. Meanwhile, Magneto arrives in Utopia seeking to speak with Cyclops. Xavier is openly hostile to Magneto, while Cyclops listens to what he has to say. Magneto states he's aware of Scott's accomplishments and leadership through these dark days, so he has come to praise him. Xavier thinks it's a trap, but Cyclops gives Magneto the benefit of the doubt. After Scott orders Psylocke to drive a psy-knife to Magneto's skull if she detects any untoward thought; Cyclops, Emma, Magneto and Psylocke head to the conference room. Magneto explains how he regained his powers with the help of the High Evolutionary and how the machine they built was destroyed right after. Magneto thinks there's no salvation for mutantkind anymore, however Cyclops points out that the Messiah girl is still alive, which sparks Magneto's interest. The meeting is interrupted by Scalphunter, who requests permission to land on Utopia. Cyclops orders Nightcrawler to teleport and check what's inside his plane. Kurt sees the Predator X's and tells everyone to shoot it down.

Notes: There's only buttshots of Psylocke. LOL. I don't think I need to post scans of that. This was all about Magneto/Cyclops/Xavier. Not even Emma Frost has any lines. Nothing really happened.

Awww only buttshots, even though he told her to use her psychic knife and she was one of the ones who headed to the conference room! shucks!

Is Fraction a really big Cyclops fanboy? I don't understand how he could write Magneto kneeling to Cyclops. I.... just can't understand this.

Why not?? I'd love to see her butt, especially with Land drawing/tracing it!

...Okay, just kidding (about the request for you to post the scans, not about liking Psylocke's butt). Fraction surely likes to treat Betsy as cheesecake, doesn't he?

Betsy is hot, I love being reminded of that, but I hope the other X-writers (like Carey, who will use her in Necrosha) remember that she has a personality of her own, instead of showing her as the team's bimbo again...

FSaker, I don't think it's Fraction's fault. Betsy actually had a little scene. I'm enjoying the fact that Cyclops trusts Psylocke to get the job done. Remember she was the only X-Man to know about the Utopia island plan. Here, she's the only one he trusts to take down Magneto.

The blame is on Land. I can't wait until this freak is gone.

Magneto kneeling to Cyclops...Magneto talking down to Charles(after the two men parted ways on good terms in X-Men:Legacy)...Fraction ignoring the fact that Magnus' helmet is NOT designed to block telepathic intrusion,Magnus is highly resistant to telepathy...

I'm even more pleased that I'm done with Uncanny X-Men now.And by the looks of these spoilers, the issue appears to be bad enough.Imagine how worse it actually looks with Greg Land's work...

There's also something to wonder: if Scalphunter's captors want to save mutantkind, why do they want the Predators X (who were created to EAT mutants) released in Utopia??

I mean, it would make more sense if they were just a bunch of artificially-powered humans wanting to kill mutants; it's something we're used to, and Scalphunter would easily help them (it's not like he was ever concerned about the other mutants, as long as he is alive and is getting paid).

@FSaker - Yes. I don't want Psylocke to be portrayed as a X-Men pinup doll either. As many of us have said before in the past, Betsy isn't the only X-girl to receive this treatment. Yes, she's gorgeous (always was), but one would want the writers to develop her personality more than her, eh, physical assets. Artists can make Betsy physically appealing, but the writers are the ones who develop the personality behind the character. I haven't seen much development of Betsy's character in the hands of Fraction.

Yeah Cyclops trusting Psylocke like that was very cool, theres one butt shot and one torse shot, both with lovely psychic knife goodness.

Magneto is full of crap the machine probably isnt broken he just doesnt want to share it. Charles talks sense Cyclops needs to get this stupid chip off his shoulder and about his stupid evil brother who he thought was dead but now isnt yet he doesnt care enough to be bothered to go find him he'd rather use Charles as a whipping boy. Im glad atleast Beast stood by Charles! The predator X's are probably encoded to kill someone specifically whom is a threat to Nation X.

wowow, she is becoming the butt-cameo queen

Anonymous said...

No, she's not. She plays a role in Uncanny. Gueststars in Weapon X. Stars in Legacy's Necrosha. And stars in her own mini. I don't think it's fair to complain that she's a cameo queen. Dazzler, Northstar and Nightcrawler are Cameo Queens. Psylocke is not. At least not for now.

Yes, Betsy is definitely not a cameo queen. Underutilized as a character, but not a cameo queen.

@12:59 Anonymous and centurion - I agree, Betsy is getting a quite good exposure in the X-verse.

@10:35 Anonymous - It was great seeing Beast standing by Xavier, now Betsy should have done the same. I wish she would thrust her psychic knife into Scott's huge and hypocritical head.

Now, I've seen that not only the panel where she tests Magneto shows only her ass, but that she's also in her buttfloss suit... someone please tell me that she changed clothes between the funeral and Magneto's probation. I mean, going to a funeral wearing a buttfloss bathing suit would be really inappropriate...

(if Emma and/or Scott die in Second Coming, she's allowed to wear the buttfloss suit in either of their funerals, though. Emma couldn't even complain, considering the kinds of clothes SHE wears...)
