X-Men: Legacy #232 Spoilers

Spoilers: After Proteus fully possesses Blindfold's body, he takes each X-Men down one by one, except Colossus, whom is thrown all the way to the X-Jet. Nightcrawler ends up possessed by Proteus too. Proteus finds out he can take over more than one body at the same time. Rogue doesn't take chances, and absorbs Nightcrawler's powers, teleporting herself and everyone else outside of the lab. Psylocke is questioned about Proteus' existence since she looked into his mind earlier, and Betsy says that when Destiny was brought back to life, a piece of Proteus was too, probably because Irene died on Muir Island, a place saturated with Proteus' energy. Psylocke says Proteus used Destiny to lure them, so he could free himself from her body. The X-Men finally find Colossus, who is unconsciouness inside a broken X-Jet, when Proteus arrives once again possessing the bodies of Destiny, Nightcrawler and Blidnfold. Proteus confronts Betsy with her worst fear (that of being dead again), and ends up possessing her. The same happens with Trance and Husk. Rogue and Magneto are left by themselves, and Erik uses his powers to throw Colossus at Proteus. Rogue absorbs Betsy's powers and uses the psy-knife on him, but it's useless. Magneto then uses his powers to lift a piece of rock with him and Proteus (in Blindfold's body) on it, taking the fight to outer space.

Spoilers: Melita Garner warns Psylocke and Nightcrawler that Wolverine is trapped in the Dunwich Sanatorium. Kurt and Betsy teleport there, where they find a giant psychic engine built with human brains. Betsy explains that the bomb could turn everyone crazy for a few moments, she then defuses it carefully with her psy-knife. Meanwhile, Wolverine goes on a rampage, killing everyone he sees in front of him. After Psylocke is done with the last brain-engine, Wolverine comes to his senses. Logan tracks down Dr. Rot and stabs him, however a nurse helps the mad doctor to run away by distracting Wolverine. Dr. Rot builds one more brain-powered engine; and as it explodes, he escapes. Psylocke and Nightcrawler come to their senses after the bomb's effects fade away, but are unable to find Logan. Wolverine goes to Melita's house, and Dr. Rot calls him, swearing he will be back.

Fraction Brings Back the Pryde of the X-Men

CBR: Matt Fraction: "I knew very early on that Magneto was coming back and would become part of the dynamic of the X-Men. I knew what he was up to and what his personality would be. I also knew how that would complicate and and challenge personal relationships and, ultimately, he would have to demonstrably make good. The X-Men may not have reacted by thinking, 'He's here. Let's punch him!' But they still don't trust him. So I wanted to build that [trust] by having him give a gift to the X-Men, who are now his people, in the form of Kitty. It felt very right in this weird, full-circle way,"

The story of Kitty's return will be fully told in "Uncanny X-Men" #522, but the issue also seeds future plot lines in which the character will figure prominently. "The issue has a cliffhanger for the ages, as we go rocketing into the events of 'Second Coming' [A crossover event between all the X-Titles which kicks off in March and completes the "Messiah" trilogy of X-crossover stories.]," Fraction remarked. "So we wrap a chapter and get a glimpse of a new one before heading into 'Second Coming.'"

Kitty doesn't play a huge role in "Second Coming," but Fraction isn't bringing the character back only to let her recede into the background. "'Second Coming' is really the story of Cable and Hope, but Kitty will be very important after," Fraction stated. "Kitty being back is a big part of our next year. With where we are in 'Second Coming' and then coming out of it, Kitty's return couldn't come at a better time for all involved. So she's coming back right as there's a giant Kitty-shaped hole in the X-Men."

Psylocke #3 Spoilers

Spoilers: Betsy finds out that Jinn used to be a killer for The Hand, but walked away from this life after he found love. It turns out that The Hand ninjas murdered Jinn's pregnant wife on behalf of Matsu'o. When Psylocke uses her telepathy on him, Jinn finds out on her mind where Matsu'o is and warns Betsy not to stand on his way, as he leaves her behind. Psylocke is left confused as she's not aware of Matsu'o's location, however she finally realizes what Jinn saw on her mind: Matsu'o is at the same place where Kwannon died. Meanwhile, Jinn reaches Matsu'o, but Yukio arrives to stop Jinn. Soon after, Betsy gets there and protects Yukio from Jinn's attacks. Jinn is upset at Psylocke, as she wants Matsu'o's death as much as him but won't let him do it. Betsy explains that Matsu'o is playing both of them and she needs to know why. Jinn doesn't care and attacks Psylocke. Betsy uses her psychic-knife on him, leaving him unconscious. She then orders Matsu'o to face her and explain his actions. Matsu'o reveals his crippled body and tells her he did everything so that Betsy would kill him. He says he will never stop and will kill everyone Betsy cares about, Brian, Warren and Dazzler, until she kills him. Psylocke is shocked and asks who did that to him. Wolverine arrives at the scene and reveals that he was the one. Logan warns her: Matsu'o's not done paying, so he doesn't get to die. Just epic!

X-Position: Top X-Moments of 2009

CBR: Right before the end of 2009, CBR asked you - their faithful X-POSITION readers - to send them your favorite moments of the year gone by from the various X-books. Here they are!

1. Psylocke's Return and Revenge

It was close, but between Psylocke's return and her ensuing revenge against Mastu'o, the lady with the thong-kini appeared on more folks' lists than any other event in 2009. For those who missed the fun, our favorite psi-ninja came back on the scene in "Uncanny X-Men" #508-511 and is now pursuing revenge and other opportunities in the current "Psylocke" miniseries.

Psylocke finally returned to the X-Men after being dead. And I'm so happy Chris Yost writes such an awesome "Psylocke." It was about time she had her revenge against Matsu'o.

Who cares about Jean Grey? The one true telepath with the power (and huevos) to stand up to Emma has returned! Long live the thong!

2. The Formation of The Dark X-Men and Utopia

3. The Return of Nate Grey - X-Man

4. Jean Grey Appears

5. Rogue Gains Control of Her Powers... And Wear Boots!

6. The New Mutants Are Back - Terrific Moments Ensue!
