Lordy, that splash page of Betts staring down the ninja army is breathtaking

I see a dead Revanche/british body in the bottom of that splash page!!

Wonderful, I just saw it in my Google Reader feed for Marvel and was thinking "I need to get this!" Thanks so much!

Also, I have to say it seems to be a booming time for Psylocke, I'm so thrilled to see her get the attention she deserves.

The art is simply replete with detail and grace. I love it! Tolibao does seem to have a strong passion for Psylocke, and that passion shows strongly in his art. Just a few more weeks!

I'm really loving the way he draws her Psychic knife.

That Jinn character seems like he could be real interesting too. His power signature is definitely cool. It kind of reminds me of Damask from AOA.

I was thinking 4 of November was close, and now the issue will be on sale 1 week later? Cant wait.
I can imagine Revancha is back by Matsuo, and at the issue #4 they switch bodies again, and Betsy is in her true body again (With the mess of her half face fixed, lol).
I think nobody is expecting that now.

Florence said...

no they won't do another body switch. Yost already said he thinks the real essential Psylocke is the ninja version. and it'd be dumb because she'd just end up asian again and it'd be Fraction's pointless plot all over again.

what will happens is probably they'll destroy the old body for good. the only issue i have is Tolibao's art is really crazy/messy so it's hard to focus. and in a story where one Psylocke should be clearly Asian, his looks completely caucasian! I'm sure the only way you'll tell the Psylocke's bodies apart will be the coloring of their hair. Why can't these artists draw Asian looking faces on women?

La Betsy said...

I was kidding.
I think Matsuo will destroy British body and Betsy will be pissed off so bad, she want to kill him.

I agree. I think Marvel's objective to clean up Psylocke's often confusing history, not over-complicate it again... Marvel seems to be trying to reestablish Psylocke's position among the famed X-Women, not weaken her credibility as a serious and consistent character.

@La Betsy - It's ok :) It's funny :) You never know what may happen in the mini.

I'm also thinking that you're all right about the British body being destroyed. Maybe that match Yost was talking about is a clue. Maybe Matsuo orders the body cremated or something similar.

That could keep writers & some editors from ever using the Brit body again. At least until some future writers find a retcon.

Look awesome. I wonder what Wolverine's role will be? My guess is that he wants to return Psylocke's British Body to be buried and that is why she sees him "in a new light."

@Sky - Hello. I agree; however, I've learned in the Marvel universe, what seems to be impossible to us in our reality, usually isn't in Earth 616. The marvel universe is a wonderful amalgamation of technology, science, sorcery, religion, and extraterrestrials, so who knows how any of this may be applied to restore the British body in a future storyline. I’d like to see what happens to it, though. A future retcon could be possible, or something we haven't seen yet. The British body could be cloned, but as you mentioned, the body could be restored, depending on the needs of the writers. But I honestly don’t see it being brought back into view unless it were related to Psylocke and her past.

If the British body is not interred in a grave in Japan, but cremated, I would think that Betsy should have the honor of conducting that ceremony herself. I guess she will have to come to grips with loosing the British body forever... On the one hand, the fact that Dazzler disfigured Psylocke's original body may mean that it won't be used again in the future, but on the other, when did a physical disfigurement stop a character from being rejuvenated or healed in the marvel universe? This body swap dilemma has always been a complicated one, that’s for sure. Regardless of what body Betsy is in, there has to be a solid definition of what/who she is as a character, so that if the writers decide to swap her again (I hope not), then she is defined by her consciousness/soul/essence, and not the body she is in e.g. (Asian or British).

@sublimeclown - A good possibility. It may be the case. Maybe Wolverine's sentimental side will surface. He has known Betsy for a long time, even when she was in her birth body.

@CmX and Luckystar - I love the site redesign!

La Betsy said...

Hey Centurion, why im funny? lol
I was kidding about the possible next body switch again at the end of the series.
I mean, if that could happens, dont think nobody see it coming, specially after the mess-tease Fraption gave us in the Sisterhood arc.
Psylocke is going to be Asian sexy ninja for a long, long time.
They are building on her, so maybe Yost wanna give her British body and confusing history a final rest, and focus on her in upcoming months, leaving the mess of her life behind while development in Betsy herself.
This is the best could happen to her. Final history for Revanche-Kwannon-British-Asian mess.
Cheers!!

Cheryl said...

I for one will be sad if we don't get to see the British body for another 20 years. I like both versions but think Kwannon should be restored to her own body. I feel bad for Kwannon more than Betsy. She's been through more. I think Fraction's plot was so dumb. He never explained how exactly Betsy's personality drained out of the British dead body into the Asian one again. It made no sense. It would be genius if this is brought up again and it was a trick and the evil spirit is the one that's inside of the Asian body. She and Magneto can pull the rug from under the X-men.

Yost and Talibao sure seem to be doing their best with this mini; Talibao's art is gorgeous and Yost got a great description of Psylocke as "a butterfly in the body of a killer". What makes me wonder: any chance he will finally explain why her psychic signature is shaped as a butterfly? I hope he explains that...

As for Matsu'o's actions, he may destroy the British body, but maybe instead of destroying it, he will steal it. And speaking of her former body, couldn't she hire Elixir to fix the corpse's face? He can fix corpses, after all (he did heal Northstar's scars after Wolverine killed him).

And I doubt there will be a body swap; if I'm not mistaken, Yost has said before that the story of this mini takes place right after the Sisterhood arc in Uncanny, so it probably happens before the Utopia storyline (where she's still Asian).

centurion said...

@La Betsy - Hi. Oh no. I meant that you were funny in a good way, because the body swap may very well happen again :) No harm done ;) Psylocke could still be a sexy ninja in either body and retain the persona that the writers have been building upon for years.

@FSaker - Hi. I enjoyed reading your post. I like that you included Yost's remark about "the butterfly in the body of a killer."

I love the art.. So beautiful and detailed!! And love the way Yost descibes her..just perfect.

Seeing the art book sketches that Captainfur provided, I must say that Tolibao draws Betsy's legs quite nicely, probably just as good as Silvestri did in 1980s.
