Many will be wounded. Several will die.
The climax of four years of X-Men stories is the X-Event of 2010! What started in House of M with the Decimation of mutantkind and erupted with the first new mutant birth in Messiah Complex finishes here. In the epic crossover Second Coming, Cyclops' faith pays off when Cable returns to the present with Hope, the girl he believes to be the mutant messiah. But will she be the savior or destroyer of mutantkind? We may never know, as she is the target of an initiative for mutant eradication unlike anything they X-Men have ever experienced. Many will be wounded. Several will die. Is Hope worth it?

*O* I sure hope they don´t kill Psylocke AGAIN!!

=S

Haha. I think she'll be OK. It would be a real mistake to kill her on the heels of her successful mini-series, but anything's possible I guess.

In the meantime, the seldom seen and b-list might be in serious trouble. That Dazzler better watch out.

Seriously though, I hope they kill Pixie. I usually like all the X-characters, but Pixie, she's the worst.

@- Adam . Actually I like the little fella LOL but I don´t know, hope they kill... Dazzler or the Dazzler look alike that girl ... don´t remember her name XD

I agree, Adam, it would be a HUGE mistake to kill Psylocke right now. First, she came back from the dead not long ago; second, she's finally regaining her popularity among comic book readers; third, she's currently not important enough in Utopia and that would make her death less shocking than, say, Xavier's, Magneto's or X-23's (the three major X-players that I am feeling will die in Second Coming).

Anyway, I like both covers for Second Coming! Even though Betsy isn't in the Granov cover, Hope looks so beautiful in it, Cable looks so badass in it, and Bastion looks so menacing in it, that it is just a wonderful cover! But the Finch one is just as great, so I guess my U.S. fellows will have a hard time to choose one... Fortunately (or not), in Brazil we'll most likely receive just one cover option, with the discarded cover option being used as an intern page...

People, seriously,it's preposterous to pay that much attention to the solicitations. But one I can assure you he will end up dead eventually is Cable.

X-23 may die?? come on.. I'm fairly fond of Laura Kinney.. I could more so imagine Wolverine finally kicking the bucket..

Xavier can go die, don't really care.. Namor dying wouldn't shock me too much. And hopefully it will NOT be Psylocke or Emma.

No Psylocke #5 in March?? lol
I want mooooreeee!!

Really cant wait for second coming.
I have a list with the people i wanna see die in the event: Emma, Ciclops, Pixie, Greg Land, Matt Fraction ( those, i mean die as creative team for Uncanny, dont get bitchy with me... lol)

Its good to see Jean finally coming back... Youngest and more bad-ass than ever. Fuck off, Emma.
Your shiny days are gone.
No more Emma having: Jean psychic omega level powers, Rogue invulnerability and strenght and Psylocke bitchness and self confidence.
Jean is back and you are gone!
("Hope" so) lol

@La Betsy - you forgot Storm´s royal attitude LOL

no way, Fraction would never kill his one true love Emma. he would have the greatest case of writers block if he had to write a story with anyone besides ScottandEmma to focus on. He won't kill Betsy either for she is on the team to add "racial diversity" (his words) and they need the Asian quota. Seems like Dazzler might be out or at least (hopefully) some of those useless new x-kids.

And REALLY? do we REALLY need another Jean clone/daughter/Phoenix thing. They are so dumb. Just bring the real Jean back at her normal age. This Hope stuff is so stupid. We've already had to suffer through that stupid bint Rachel.

agreed stop wasting time with clones.

My guess is they might off Magneto, his powers seemed to be a bit off and he did kill Jean, so it may be a little payback,

Is everyone convinced that the "she" who has been gone for a long time and is coming back is Jean? Or could it be Wanda?

@La Betsy - I actually hope that Hope (no pun intended) is not Jean. I mean, Hope has a personality of her own, a background of her own, even if she's a redhead telepath and telekinetic, she is a strong character (IMO, much better than Jean and Rachel combined).

I'd like if it was teased throughout the Second Coming event that Hope is indeed Jean reincarnated... only to see in the last issues of it the real Jean appearing before Hope. Then Hope could absorb the Phoenix force from Jean's body and become the new Phoenix host (a COOL one), while Jean would get free of the whole Phoenix mess and would be able to return to the X-Men as a real mutant, not an entity disconnected from her fellow mutants.

@Chris - As for X-23 dying, it's just an impression I have. I may be wrong, and I'd like to be wrong (X-23 is one of the best characters Marvel created in years), but I think Laura may die in action to protect Hope from either Bastion or Kimura.

zerophyte said...

Speaking of Kimura.. Can't she finally just die for good and be done with it?? She has got to be one of the most annoying villians yet.

FSaker said...

Maybe Kimura could also die in Second Coming. Psylocke could use her telekinesis to give her an aneurism or to stop her heart (like Betsy did with Dark Professor X), or Cloak could banish her to the dark dimension in his cloak forever (that would be a fate worse than death)...

At any rate, I better get back to reading mountains of backlog for all the X-titles in chronological order dating from 1994 till now.. I'm way behind. lol..

I just recently decided to get back into comics after all these years.

Don't forget Psylocke will also have a story wrotten by Mike carey in the "Breaking into Comics: The Marvel Way" also out in March.

FSaker said...

Anyway, the good news is that Betsy will most likely survive Second Coming.

The bad news is that she'll also most likely do very little in this event... I expect her participation will be as "big" as in the Utopia crossover. Maybe even less than that.

But if she at least gets a fighting scene in one issue, I'm already satisfied!

It would be really amusing if in Uncanny #522 Shadowcat is the one who returns. I'd be so happy. Jean can just keep sucking maggots. Bleh, though, I'm fairly certain my dream won't come true.
