Spoilers: At His Majesty’s Young Mutant Containment Facility outside London, Shatterstar, Captain Britain, and Rictor infiltrate the penitentiary. While exploring the facility, they discover dead and melting guards. The cells are open, but the detained children are nowhere to be seen. Betsy, concerned about the potential repercussions of a guard massacre by a dangerous mutant child, recognizes the severity of the situation. Rictor finds bone fragments in a broken camera, sparking thoughts of Marrow’s involvement, though Betsy dismisses it as inconsistent with Marrow's style.

In another section of the facility, mutant children are being herded into a portal by Absalom of the Externals. Absalom and Nicodemus orchestrate the process, revealing their cruel intentions. Unhappy with their forced servitude under Selene, Absalom tosses a defiant child through the portal. Nicodemus and Absalom discuss Selene's manipulative control, expressing dissatisfaction with being her pawns.

As Captain Britain, Shatterstar, and Rictor confront the Externals, Nicodemus notes a discrepancy in Burke’s vision, indicating that Betsy’s arrival was premature. Uninterested in the mutants’ mission, the Externals plan to leave. Rictor intervenes by blocking their escape route, leading to a confrontation. Nicodemus recalls Rictor's involvement in boiling them in magma to build Apocalypse’s External Gate. The facility becomes the battleground for a showdown as the Externals challenge Captain Britain, Shatterstar, and Rictor to a fierce battle.
