Seth Peck and Paul Azaceta Take Over X-Men

Comics Culture The Beat: Over on his Tumblr blog, writer Brian Wood has confirmed that his run on adjectiveless X-Men will end with issue #37.The new creative team for the book will be writer Seth Peck and artist Paul Azaceta. Peck confirmed the news on his twitter, revealing that the first two issues of his run will feature a guest-appearance from Daredevil. Check the original source for a first look at the art!

With both Uncanny X-Force and X-Men facing major creative team shake-ups in the coming months, and Uncanny X-Men being cancelled in favor of All-New X-Men, there is no telling of where Psylocke will end up in the future.

Update: Seth Peck confirmed on twitter he isn't permanently taking over Adj. XMen

"I'm writing a couple issues of X-men...as far as I know, I'm not "taking it over", as has been reported."

Omg, I can't believe this. Betsy was a core character in THREE flagship X-Men titles. And now we don't know if she'll be in any :(

Betsy hasn't been written this well in years, especially not in 3 titles at the same time. I suppose it couldn't last forever, but I really hope she doesn't become wallpaper again, especially not after Remnder's awesome run on X-Force which was essentially a Psylocke ongoing...

What I hope for the most is that Psylocke joins the Uncanny Avengers. Psylocke deserves Remender as her writer...forever.
I'd love to see her stay on X-Men though.

Also I'm confused that he said his run ends at #37 when he's in the solicit for issue #38?

I'm worried for Psylocke, too. I remember some representative from Marvel saying that X-Men vol. 3 would shift its direction in Marvel NOW... maybe, with all the other X-books starring Wolverine's team, X-Men vol.3 will become the book for Cyclops, Magik, Magneto and Emma Frost.

If this theory is right, technically Psylocke could also be a part of it. Problem is, I don't know if she will still be on Cyclops's side when AvX is over.

Storm is already going to Wolverine and the X-Men, so it's unlikely that Psylocke will also go there (the book is already crowded as it is - it's a great book, very enjoyable to read, but it's crowded). She may cameo in some issues of Bendis's All-New X-Men, maybe have some interaction with the Warren from the past, but I doubt she'll be a central character in there.

And with all due respect to Daniel Way, but if he's really replacing Remender as Uncanny X-Force's writer, I'm not sure if I still want Betsy to be a part of it (although she was kinda nice in his Deadpool arc featuring the X-Force)... it's not that he's a bad writer, but after Remender it's very hard that another writer can make her justice in a team of killers.

This sucks. Brian Wood's XMen was doing so good! I loved his characterization of Psylocke and how he had the team interact. He wrote a really awesome Storm. I knew his run wouldn't last long :(

Relax there are still more unannounced books. Soon we'll be going there are too many x-books.

There already are too many X-books! I'm not a fan of the fact they're adding even more when they really just need to concentrate on streamlining what they have and stop putting Wolverine in eeeverything to make more room for other characters!

I work in a comic shop so I always pounce on Previews when it comes in and aside from the wedged in images on like, two covers, I can't say I've seen Psylocke anywhere. Maybe this is just because of what'll happen at the end of Uncanny X-Force's arc being a big change for her, but I can't say for sure.

In terms of that particular book ending, I'm a bit sad but I would rather Remender's run ended now than it got dragged on and went down. I didn't really enjoy the Otherworld arc and there have been real dips (for me personally) in the current arc. So, it may be a good time to conclude things for this incarnation of the team...

As for where I want Betsy? I'd rather her be on the Extinction team (if I don't have to read any more Emma and Illyana as I'm so tired of those two) but in all honesty if she's not going to be in a good book with a good writer, I'm going to be in my corner with my 80s Uncanny X-men and Captain Britain and kick it old school til someone decent rescues her.

I don't know what direction they planning for here but I hope she's on a good time after the fallout of the latest Uncanny X-Force. Was it a mistake to have Future Wolverine and Future Psylocke kissing? Honestly, they did been through a lot... manipulations, common enemies, etc... Something about Cyclops and Wolverine that is into telepaths just sticks to them.

Wherever Psylocke goes I'm following and anyone who writes her the best.

Terrible news. If i fail to see Storm, Betsy and Brian Wood on a title or preferrably, THIS title, i will NOT be making mine Marvel.

I'm very worried, however I am slightly cheered by the fact that Axel Alonso is a confirmed Psylocke fan and I hope he has some clout when it comes to saving her from wallpaper status.

And I'm pretty sure if it does come to that Remender will rescue her and bring her over to Uncanny Avengers after all her relationship with Brian was never mended.

I also read somewhere that someone believed Remender was putting Psylocke and Wolverine together as a couple because he's trying to guarantee her survival as a main character in the books after his departure and it may elevate her status as a more prominent X-character due to her association with Wolverine.

Slightly insulting that no one thinks Psylocke it capable of this on her own merit but they do have a point as Wolverine is one Marvel's most popular characters and association with him as his love interest could lead to more exposure in the books and possibly film.

But who knows I guess it's just speculation

Next week, Comic Book Resources will conduct a X-POSITION interview with the X-editors... if many of us send questions asking them if Psylocke will be featured in any books when Marvel NOW starts, maybe they will answer.

If anyone feels like sending this question, the email address is: george@comicbookresources.com . More information can be seen in the end of this page: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=40826

I really hope this marvel now mess works out somhow. its looks like a complete shambles to me. when marvel feels like they need to copy DC, we know that its gonna be messy.

I think I read somewhere that Remender won’t bow down to fan favorites if it doesn’t fit with the story, which is what I like about his writing. And right now, and even though she is my favorite, Betsy is a bit of a mess, emotionally speaking, so what team would she fit in while she is working through all that?

Well, the only clear answer to me would be an ongoing Psylocke series or, since he is pairing Betsy with Logan, (which I am not a fan of), maybe a Wolverine/Psylocke series.

And the reason I am not a fan of Wolvlocke. is cause I like them as friends, there was a great almost family relationship to them. Which kind of made up some for both of their screwed up lives. You can argue that’s a great basis for a relationship, but does Betsy have to shag the whole team?
