Well, the universe echoes our actions, doesn't it?? This conflicting position of Betsy is being nicely constructed. But, in fact, which X-Man never crossed the lines she is crossing? Very few of them...And hard choices can require hard decisions too...The concepts of right and wrong may get blurred, or too subjective, but, anyway, we always have to deal with the consequences of our acts.

Besides, if Betsy really wanted to be mean, she could have accessed Magneto's mind and make him forget what he saw in her current status of telepathic power, but she chooses not to do it. Anyway, Henry and Kitty Pride also know of the existence of X-Force. Thus, the secret existence of the team shall not go too long, I guess. Good to see she still preserved some of her ethic and did not go erasing the mind of the people that are aware of X-force.

And she is already being too hard on herself, feeling guilty for the creation of Tabula Rasa. I do not think it is her fault. She was not the one who corrupted Warren.

She was part of the team that killed Kidpocalypse. Although she was against the whole thing once she found out their target was the thing, she's still bound to have some guilt over the mess it led to. I think it's very realistic.

Aham, that's exactly the point. She is human and she knows that what she did exceeded some of her own limits. It's excellent to see her involved in this kind of conflict, especially when Remender knows her well and surely will make her clear her mind about this. I think this promotes her growth as a character and also her role in the X-Men.
You see, she was the only one who chose both sides, and I also understand her, because things in life are not just black or white. This shows us that she can also consider the shades of grey in every situation. I am eager to sse her thoughts about Fantomex's judgement now.

edit

*once the found out their target was a kid.

I personally think this whole mess leaves Betsy in the most interesting and potentially story-driving position she's ever been in in a while.

I have to say, it seems odd that Magneto of all people would be the first to criticize her, considering the decades of shady-at-best shit he's been involved in. But whatever. It's a comic.

Aham, and that is an argument Betsy could have used against him. Magneto willingly dirtied himself with many other people's blood when he could have opted not to do that. The choices of X-Force are a bit more complicated, and, besides, it is unfair to blame Betsy or any other member of X-Force for the human massacre that Warren perpetrated, once she was not the one who drove him to do that.
I hope, when all this comes to surface and when Betsy is judged, that it can be remembered that she was never willingly blood thirsty.

Mangeto is the biggest hypocrite in Marvel right now! His "by any means necessary past" should show him that. Not that I'm knocking his stance in the past on certain things, but he needs to check himself and realize that he's the last person who should assume the role of moral barometer.

Magneto gets like this every time he turns good. He starts wanting to act all elder statesman and give moralistic advice, then he goes and joins The Hellfire Club or decides things just aren't working for him and slaughters lots of people. Magneto is that evil ex who won't stop texting The X-Men when he gets drunk and The X-Men always fall for it, so it is pretty realistic :) Of course you also never know when it's Magneto or a clone.

Matt,
Word! You summarized that quite succinctly and candidly! Your comment is so spot-on!

Maybe this time, no one will stop Magik from cross-sectioning him with the soulsword when he gets all self-righteous (Re: Death of Cypher and The X-Men).

Now THAT would be quality storytelling.

How long is the secret safe with him? Just as long as it is convenient to him too. As soon as it is not anymore, he can use this to justify whatever atrocity he probably will come to do when things are not running the way he prefers anymore.

i think that "being too hard on herself" - as Eduardo said - is what makes Betsy part of the good ones, what makes her such an ethical character, while Magneto, always ready to justify his means and rationalize his choises, will never be anything more than an utilitaristic thinker and doer.
