Podcast with Rick Remender

iFanboy catches up with writer Rick Remender and look back and reflect on Strange Girl, as well catch up on his latest work at Marvel Comics with Venom and Uncanny X-Force.

Remender talks about Uncanny X-Force around the 00:40 mark. Among other things, he says there will be more double-shipping in the upcoming months. Rick has also got X-Force outlined up to issue #34. Robbi Rodriguez is penciling issue #19, and then Greg Tocchini comes on board next, drawing the Otherworld arc, with Captain Britain, Jamie Braddock and other characters from Betsy's life. After that, it's time for a big villain to show up. For the second year, Remender plans to delve deeper into Fantomex's origins as well.

This interview made me want to pick up back issues of Venom. Apparently Remender just knows how to write the hell out of these books. He's selling so many!

Nice news!

I wonder if Captain Britain and Jamie Braddock will only appear in flashbacks or if they will really have a participation in the next UXF arc. If they will participate for real, that means Jamie is finally returning from the First Fallen's dimension. I don't know if Remender will address that, and considering the huge mess that that arc was, maybe he should just forget it ever happened...

haha FSaker... you are so right, that arc WAS a mess. lol. At the time I was just happy to see Jamie back in comics, but looking back it just confused Betsy's life even more.

I'm extremely excited about the "Otherworld" arc too! I hope they dive in deep to her Captain Britain days. Maybe they will finally explain what all that talk (with Merlyn I think) about Betsy and Brian being powered from magic or another planet or something, I can't really remember but they didn't start out as mutants necessarily. It wasn't until the second run of Captain Britain when Betsy started talking about having her telepathy and being a mutant, right? That's what I remember reading at least. Even a good Betsy-Brian team up battle would be good enough, Its been awhile. Maybe Jamie will be Sane finally and be one of the good guys?

Yes, you're right, Braxton Garris; Betsy wasn't originally a mutant (although she never had her genes verified back then, so she COULD be a mutant, just unidentified). In fact, Brian is still not a mutant, just a human being enhanced by magic.

Brian and Betsy always provide great team-ups (I always saw them like Marvel's take on He-Man and She-Ra... come on, they're twins from different genders, they are both originally blondes, they are warriors more than superheroes, they mostly live apart from each other...), and Jamie will surely be a welcome appearance in X-Force (although I don't think he'll be sane so soon...)!
