SECOND COMING, Chapter 10
Things have never been worse for the X-Men. They’re stuck in an impregnable dome of Bastion’s creation. As if that's not bad enough, inside this dome is a portal to the Days of Future Past timeline through which thousands of Nimrod Sentinels are pouring. Cyclops has sent Cable, Cypher and X-Force on a suicide mission into the future to destroy the portal, but do they stand a chance?

New Mutants #14
Written by: Zeb Wells
Penciled by: Ibraim Roberson
Cover by: Adi Granov
Variant Cover by: David Finch
SECOND COMING, Chapter 11
The X-Men are losing the battle against the Nimrods and Cyclops knows it. Desperate times call for desperate measures and no measure is more desperate than enlisting a mutant with multiple personalities, each possessing its own power. That’s right, Legion is let out of prison to fight on the X-Men’s side.

X-Men: Legacy #237
Written by: Mike Carey
Penciled by: Greg Land
Cover by: Adi Granov
Variant Cover by: David Finch
SECOND COMING, Chapter 12
X-Force cuts their way through a dangerous future trying to cut off Bastion’s armies at the source. They better hurry as the X-Men in the present are falling left and right.

X-Force #28
Written by: Christopher Yost & Craig Kyle
Penciled by: Mike Choi
Cover by: Adi Granov
Variant Cover by: David Finch
SECOND COMING, Chapter 13
The final battle begins here! It’s X-Force’s last stand in the future and the X-Men’s last stand in the present. Bastion has been one step ahead of the X-Men the whole time, but one X-Man’s sacrifice could turn the tide! Don’t miss the penultimate chapter of the X-Event of 2010!

Wow, Second Coming is looking better with each solicitation coming up! It seems to have all the potential to become one of the best X-events (if not THE BEST X-event) EVER!

And Betsy looks amazing in Uncanny's cover! Plus, I guess that cover confirms that she survives Hope's rescue... Anyway, Granov is a great artist, and so is Finch, so it's always delightful to see them using Betsy in their covers!

From the solicits, it appears the X-Men to die is coming from X-Force (or working with X-Force)...I think that makes Nightcrawler safe (as well as our lovely lady who is fighting with the Utopian X-Men). If I had to venture a guess, I would have to say that Cable is the one to sacrifice himself.

Nightcrawler is not safe. The death of an X-Men happens in X-Force 26 out in April. Kurt hasn't appeared in any other cover from that month on...

kurt is dying
cable is sacrifying
magik is injured
betsy is looking fierce and gorgeous!
do u guys think she´ll be in the main line-up after second coming?
u know, the "we are the x-men" thing?

What about Warpath! I bet he's going to die unless he ends up dying in the last issue of Necrosha.

@PsySpears and FSaker - Hey there. I fully agree with both of you regarding the new Uncanny solicitation. Betsy's beautiful. I love the post and the coloring here. Can't wait to get it.

Random Prediction: HOPE DIES. Thus, catalyzing the Phoenix Force and giving her the power to turn the tide against Bastion's forces.

@Centurion - I can't wait either! Unfortunately I'll NEED to wait, since this X-event will probably be published in my country only next year, or the year after... Even Messiah War wasn't published here yet.

@SoulTapestry - Maybe you're right. But I hope that Hope (no pun intended) survives Second Coming; I just LOVE this girl and think she still has much to offer to the X-stories...

My crtiscism of Hope is that, We have already had Jean, Madelyne and Rachel we really dont need another, Rachel was too much imo. If she had remained a much younger girl it would have been more interesting and I dont feel it was an absolute necessity to give her red hair it only makes her more like the other copies. Plus they really need to define what the hell is going on with the Phoenix and if it only belongs to Jean or whatever.

Its bad enough we have a female copy of Wolverine, as cool as Laura is its still quite unoriginal. I always felt Marrow deserved a permenant place in the x-men.

Also im sick of so many uber females and girl chacters in the x-men, there are already a ton.

Im not a fan of Kurt but I recognize that he is one of the most classic X-men if they had planned to kill him off they should have used him a lot more in the run up to this. If your going to kill a character let them go out in style at the height of popularity. I think Collosus death was quite poignant there was no need to bring him back but then im sure there were people who said that about Betsy.

But we don't know for sure who or what Hope is. She may seem to be another telekinetic/telepath redhead, but remember, she healed Rogue back in Messiah CompleX... neither Jean, nor Rachel have ever done something like that. Her powerset may be quite different from what we are expecting.

But I agree with your comment about Marrow, she was great back in the days as the problematic dysfunctional teenager in the group (and unlike Kitty Pryde, Marrow had good reasons to be a bitch to everyone). Too bad Marvel decided to take her off the X-Men.

As for the deaths, Colossus's death was great the way it was, even though the bad writing in it compromised the sacrifice a lot. Psylocke's death, however, was awful, she just died in the hands of a random villain with the sole purpose of showing how powerful Vargas was supposed to be (and the fact that Rogue defeated him some issues after that just shows how lame this excuse was). Okay, Claremont did intend to bring her back in her European body, but killing her to accomplish that was a lame excuse; even Fraction managed to switch her mind/soul/conscience from one body to another without needing to kill her...

I agree if they are going to kill Kurt at least let him go out in style. I don’t see Hope being a new character joining the X-Men because what’s the point. They should of just kept Jean or bring Rachel back. They could have made her brunette with wings and a dragon snout, there was endless possibility. Hope will either lead to Jean’s return or sacrifice and die. We wouldn’t have wanted them to bring back a younger version of Psylocke named Peace who looked and had the same powerset but was not actually Psylocke. We would feel cheated. Do you think Psylocke will believe or will she be against the Messiah child?

Psylocke doesnt seem to have liked Bishop very much and has often been very protective of younger ones in her own way (Warpies, Kitty Pryde, Jubilee,Rachel, X-23)So I think she would probably protect Hope. Psylocke is Cyclops loyal in my eyes.

Do you think Psylocke would have been Pro or Anti civil war?

You know i met Claremont very soon after Betsy was killed in Spain and he pretty much said he honestly only killed her off because he wanted to establish Vargas as a powerful villain and because he was honouring his 2nd issue of uncanny where Warpath also died. I love the way he bigs himself up, so modest. He also said she had way too much baggage which I found hypocritcal because he caused most of it.

I met Alan Davis a few years later and he said that Asian Psylocke was pointless and she just became an Elektra clone and might aswell have been a brand new character. Which always amazes me because I think he draws the most drop dead gorgeous Betsy.

electra is boring. asian psylocke is the bomb. no comparison.

asian psylocke is more dynamic than british psylocke in many ways. i did like betsy in the australian outback days but there is no contest for asian psylocke and the psychic knife. she wins.

by the way, i hated all that crimson dawn stuff with that stupid red thing on her face. glad they got rid of all that.

I think Claremont gets much to possessive of his creations and lets that cloud the writing. It seems like he was bent on binding Psylocke so that no one else could change her, (what her brother did to her) but that was not very smart, this is comics after all and anyone can undo what he does, and they did. Everything Claremont recently added to her seems to be washed away and I would argue for the better because I think he gave her even more "baggage", flying, invisbility, smashy mountain power, resistance to telepathy and that creepy affair with the other Sabetooth, and I think there was even more random power sets.
