Look, the art on the UXF cover is beautiful, no one can deny that, but this is just bullshit. If she actually have a tattoo of the three, I'll just stop reading this book once for all.
This is the first time since the Dark Angel Saga that I've wished that Warren would come to his senses just to stop this bullshit and get his love back.

Wow, David Lopez will start working in X-Men in issue #4 already? I thought Coipel would still be the artist in it...

Well, that's not exactly bad news, as Lopez's art is also great (I love his geeky Mephisto in that New Mutants issue where he takes Magma for a date... and Magma herself looks gorgeous in that issue).

The solicits for X-Men and Uncanny X-Force are interesting (maybe UXF will become better from the next issues on). As for Ultimate Comics X-Men, I wonder if Ultimate Betsy will still be manipulating everyone, if she will reveal her true intentions... and if she will still be alive by then (although if anyone tries to kill her, she can just transfer her mind to another body again).

@Anna Varolina Vale. - I think that cover is just a metaphor to show how deep Psylocke's connection to the Fantomexes is. I doubt Marvel would ever allow a tattoo in her body (specially a tattoo as big as this), since it would present a big challenge for future artists every time she would appear with some skin uncovered, it would make it harder for cosplayers to portray her in comic book events, etc...

@FSaker You might be right, but you also might not. If what we've seen so far is any proof, Humphries is not giving his best on X-Force so he might as well do this. Besides, with her recent uniform change, practically her entire body is covered, so you can't tell.
I wish they would just dish Fantomex and the other two to let her live her life. They're the reason she's so bitter now.

I agree Anna Carolina. The cover art had better be a metaphor and nothing literal. None of this tattoo &$@*. Seriously.

Australian Outback said...

That's the thing - he could make it literal cos now they can just have her uniform up and cover it up all the time. If he does that, Marvel will seriously need to dump him. Already cranky because of the poor job he's doing on the first arc, grr.

Um, I seriously doubt she'll be getting that tattoo, guys. It's a creative cover. You guys read too much into things.

andledP 200Wow...really intriguing cover, but i do not like the tattoo idea too he but it is really hard to say anything about the relevance without knowing what happened between them.
The first arc did not add really much to it, it may be considered a contextualization arc. The truth about the Owl-Ginny stuff shall come clearer on the next arc. Let's see if it builds into something bigger and worth it.

Yay a new artist for Uxf!

CmX, I'm sure you're right. The tattoo is a graphic way of illustrating how embedded the Fantomexes are in Betsy's life.

For the record, I'm actually one who loves the Fantomex x3 idea - I think they're pretty slick. But the thought of a tattoo on Betsy - grr!

Fantomex used to be somewhat interesting but now? Ugh. He's been overplayed, overused and I'm tired of it (have been for a long time). I think this book is in a rut because of it, too. Like, they can't progress the story until they deal with Fantomex and whatever happened during that unexplained time, yet they had to introduce the new roster as well. They could have did it better! Fantomex is killing the book and they need to quit forcing this crap with him and Betsy, and just get on with an actual story that is at the least entertaining. Bets needs a break from men (especially after the ordeal with Warren) and just needs a damn moment to breathe, get her bearings and crap. Our girl has been through A LOT and while she has proven to be resilient, I always fear the writers are just waiting on the chance to pounce on Bets having a mental breakdown and psychic knifing all of Marveldom. lol

I gotta say, I saw the tattoo then thought 'ugh' and then its like, yeah that's not real.

Honestly, the line about 'Jubilee the vampire teen mom' bothers me more than the faketoo...

Vigmed said...

Oh, and a big, resounding, "HELL NO!" to that tattoo. lol There's no way that particular image would be given the "okay" for Psylocke. Especially right now that her limelight is steadily growing. I totally wouldn't mind if she got a butterfly tattoo :)

its a methaphor that tattoo i think is a great misdirection cover. jubilee mom bothers me too. but wood is a great writer. lets see how that cmons out.

FSaker said...

About Jubilee, the "mom" comment probably means that she will take care of that baby she's bringing to the JGS, not that she will actually get pregnant and stuff (I'm not even sure vampires can get pregnant...).

I'm kinda curious to see her as a (surrogate) mother, as it allows Wood to give some evolution to the character. As much as I hated when Gischler turned her into a vampire, I must admit it brought some development to Jubilee.

Now, what I dislike in the "vampire teen mom" text is that Marvel is referring to her as a teen: Jubilee was already a young adult before she was turned into a vampire. Sure, the fact that she continued behaving like a teenager doesn't help people remembering that...

sparkysnaffles said...

I know she's not literally a teen mom lol. I am quite aware of this plot, it's just a terrible way of putting it and that book has less and less appeal for me with every line I read about it. Brian Wood has got his work cut out to convince me personally, as I really did not think much of his first crack on X-men and as much as I want to get excited for this new book, I just can't. That bothers me far more than any fake, metaphoric tattoo.

Australian Outback said...

After Wood, can a writer remove Jubilee's vampirism please? Just get Wanda to say, "No more Vampilee." Or get the Phoenix back with the mission to heal Vampilee, and then Phoenic goes back to beddy bye. :)

Also, Psylocke's "Omega" psi potential was unlocked during the Dark Angel saga. Can we see this explored, please?

@Vigmed Oh, I was thinking about that today after seeing the cover again. They could give her the full back butterfly tattoo that she has on the cover of Ronin 5 #4 -- because I'm not exactly a big fan of the blue butterfly on the issue.
