I hope Emma is going to Limbo till the end of time.
She got enough spotlight this years... Now its time to get back Jean, and the old Rogue, and make 2 teams ala gold and blue with the greatest x-woman ever.

I agree that the blue and gold teams, instituted during the early 90s, represented a highpoint in X-Men history. The blue team actually made me a fan of the X-Men and Betsy :) Rogue possessing her Ms. Marvel powers was my favorite version of the character, too; this Rogue was well written during Claremont's run on Uncanny in the late 80s. Remember her battle in Manhattan, NYC with Psylocke, Longshot and Rogue against Mastermold? Brillant! If it is nostalgia that is causing us to long for a return to the days of the Blue and Gold teas, maybe Claremont's X-Men Forever Alpha is the closest to that wish we will get in the present. I have great hopes for the upcoming X-Men Forever series, as I am sure others on this board have as well.

I wonder if the second season of Wolverine and the X-Men will somehow incorporate Psylocke into the team, even though she was portrayed as a villian in Season 1 episode 8. Suffice it to say, Psylocke has been under-represented or absent in many of the X-Men animated series of the past, despite her extreme popularity within the comics and videogames.

I actually like Emma, La Betsy. Sure, it has been annoying how she gets all the attention in the X-universe recently, but she's not bad... I guess she was just caught up in the Summers couple curse (every woman that has a love relationship with one of the Summers brothers, mainly Scott, ends up getting killed or humiliated or just becomes boring).

I say, split Emma and Scott, make each one has his/her own X-Men team, and have Betsy joining Emma's team. The bitchy remarks they would be making to each other all the time would be pure gold!!

If Betsy stays with Cyclops, there is a good chance she will become his next love interest, and it would end up with her dying (again) or becoming boring. So I think Emma would be a better teammate for Betsy.

FSaker, a Betsy&Cyclops relationship would be very intriguing... I had dreams of this happening since the 90s. You have great ideas, my friend.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Cyke and betts NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.Sorry you probably havent noticed but i dont really like that idea haha.

I want Psylocke to be a lone angel for awhile......that or Dazzler..........*cough*

By sticking Emma in Jean Grey's place, they turned her into a hypocrite instead of letting her redeem herself, like Rogue, for instance. She was great during Generation-X,until Morrison all of a sudden thought she would be a far more interesting love interest for Scott Summers than Jean.

PsySpears said...

Yeah,Emma was great in Gen-X,i was a huge fan of that book and her,but when she joined the X-men she got Wolviesyndromn,Emma was the be all and end all of X-women,Great powers, bitchy fresh personality, bad past and tits.plus the greg horn pin-ups didnt do any damage.OVEREXPOSURE and im not talking about her outfit

It's true, it's true. But I still prefer Emma over Cyclops; Scott has been a real jerk in the past years, criticizing Xavier's deeds before getting involved with even worse deeds, optic-blasting everyone that opposes to his decisions (Rockslide, for instance), isolating the X-Men from the society and from the other Marvel heroes... I used to like him in the 90s, but he became very dislikable lately.

BTW, I really love Steve McNiven's art, and Betsy looks gorgeous in it (despite the same bathing suit and not having purple hair in it)... but is it me, or she looks kinda bald in the front of her head? It looks like she shaved the top of her head but let the hair grow on the sides and in the back of her head...

I hope it doesn't look like that when we can see the cover printed. Nothing against bald ladies, Natalie Portman actually looks hotter bald than with hair, but this look is quite weird on Betsy.

idc betsy and cyclops would be a great match in my opinion. jean was always weak and dying and they had such an emo relationship. emma is pretty weak too she's just a slut who uses her body to get what she wants. but betsy would actually put cyclops in his place. she wouldn't fill the typical teleapth woman role. she'd probably screw him then go smoke a cigarette and blow it in his face and walk out. fierce bitch!

fraction seemed to miss so many opportunities. i feel like if emma is gone the team really needs a strong telepath and that's exactly how psylocke could have filled the role if she didn't lose her telepathy which she may or may not have right now.

I dont like McNivens cover.
I really cant wait to see Betsy using her powers in a cool and unique way. I mean butterfly signature aura, telepathic tricks while kickin asses, and other good stuff...
And i will be happy to see Betsy by Silvestri and Dodson, specially Dodson new cossie for Betsy.
Hope we get some sketches soon :)

About Emma, im sick of her. She is the hot-powerful telepath-powerhouse-diamond skin-with invulnerability and superstrenght... I mean, she got it all. Its time for Betsy to get some shine too!
Even she still have TK... What a mess! I though Fraction wanted to simplify her...

I think the diamond powers need to bugger up i mean Cassandra gave her them they arent exactly a natural mutation plus i really dont think Emma fits the "muscle" role. Is Emma "Psylocked" when in diamond form?

I like Emma she has been slightly over exposed but I still enjoy reading her, its a refreshing change from the usual Wolverine drivel. X-men turning on each other is always good fun.

I think Morrison did a great job during his run breathing fresh air into the stagnant title it was becoming.

As for relationships if Betsy goes anywhere near Warren, Scott or Logan its suicide. She needs to stay single and cool. The only one I have ever wanted her with is Beast I they have a great rapport and balance and it would really solidify her place as a permanent main stay of the team.

Yes Emma is indeed "psylocked" in Diamond form.

Our Betsy was basically the Emma Frost before Emma Frost. Its time for her to regain her crown:D

lol ok i almost agreed with some of your points anon but the beast thing killed me. betsy is not a furry. i can't believe people ship nightcrawler and beast with any human looking girls at all, it's so gross :P

By the way, LuckyStar, the X-Solicits for September also include the hard cover collections of the Fantastic Four versus X-Men and of the X-Men versus Avengers. Both HC books feature Psylocke (although she doesn't do much in the X-Men vs. Avengers), so it might be interesting for people who want to read stories from Betsy's beginning in the X-Men.

centurion said...

Hi, FSaker. Are you looking foward to X-Men Forever?

Best,
centurion

FSaker said...

A little bit, Centurion, yeah. But I'll only start cheering for it when/if Claremont announces Betsy appearing in this series.

centurion said...

Hi. I have a similar concern, too, FSaker, but Claremont has been vague about what Psylocke's degree of representation in the new book. As I have mentioned in earlier postings on this blog, I don't see Claremont excluding her altogether from the series; this would be unusual. The situation with Psylocke appearing in Forever seems to be one of those classic "watch and wait" scenarios. What Claremont could explore is what would have happened to Betsy had she not been transformed into an Asian woman. It would be interesting to see if Claremont gets British Betsy to work with in X-Men Forever and Asian Betsy stays in the main 616 universe in Uncanny, then potentially makes appearences in other X related titles.

Best,
centurion

Psychilde said...

You know what I'd like to see in X-men Forever, british betsy and kwannon both appearing, that would be awesome, but without the body swap or anything, just the two seperate characters XD

centurion said...

Yes, Psychilde. Good idea!

Anonymous said...

that will never happen. CC despises "Kwannon". he hates that someone changed Betsy from his original story of her being changed surgically to her being in a completely different body. he would never in a million years do anything that has two bodies because to him it made things more complicated and he despises that retcon. she will be the altered asian but be in the same exact british body with altered features from The Hand. i don't think he will change her to look like she's in the british body even though it'd be nice.

Anonymous said...

I disagaree, since Claremont can do whatever he pleases with this continuity, I bet he will revert her back to true form and we will be seeing an original British Psylocke in this series. It could even be the reason why she is not in the new line up right away. And I think seeing her evolution in Claremonts hands will be interesting.

I agree, can't wait for Betsy to be introduced in this series...oh the antecipation... it's almost cruel!!!

Anonymous said...

I swear he said he would be covering the missing X-men in issues 14+ Psylocke back in England with Brian im guessing.

Who the hell knows what he is doing with Psylocke he had 616 under his hands for absolutley ages and hardly changed or developed anything at all, just going to have to wait and see.

I agree Beast is a furry but i still think he and Betsy make a wonderful couple and i wish they could be together somehow.

Currently with Sabretooth, Rogue and Shadowcat heading up the team this just feels like Claremont's Exiles round 2.

Francis said...

do you think one of the x-girls watching TV in the preview of Utopia is Betsy???

Giles said...

Sadly no Francis it looked like Karma and X-23 to me. I wonder though what Betsy makes of it all, being back in 616 I mean. Does she really feel connected to "her" Earth and the events going on there, now that she has been travelling to so many variations of it? Or does she feel bored being stuck in one place (again)?

Anonymous said...

Betsy is a fighter she will stand up for the x-men until the very end!

FSaker said...

Giles, isn't Betsy the woman behind Colossus in the preview page with the X-Men watching TV? Looks like her, and the hair color is kinda purple-ish...

Giles said...

Oh right, I thought that was Pixie for a moment, but she was busy being beaten up (again). ;)
