Uncanny X-Men #510 variant by J. Scott Campbell

Here is the variant cover to Uncanny X-Men #510. Psylocke still appears in her Asian form on this image so it leads to wonder if her British re-transformation is permanent or not.

oh great. she stays asian. what was the point to even switching her so briefly :(

ugg too cartoonish for my tastes -

honestly if they are just gonna switch her back to Asian why not just have the Red Queen "unlock" the telepathy in Asian Betsy's brain instead of having us think AGAIN that Betsy will go back to British body.

I hope she stays Asian with her TK and her Exiles uniform. I love her the way she is now. Different. She is not just another telepathic in the X-Men team. I would hate to see her going back to the basics and be a shadow to Emma Frost. I wish we can see her having more importance to the X-Men. Even though many people don't like her in the Exiles team (even I did not like it), I must say that her presence was essential somehow. Hope someday she can lead a team soon!

Nice cover!

So, is she staying Asian? Well, not exactly a bad thing, I guess: I prefer British Betsy, but any of her bodies can receive the other's traits to please both sides (like British Betsy being able to fight in ninjitsu style and using the psychic dagger, or Asian Betsy learning to use her telepathy in more creative ways and showing her British ironic sense of humour).

The main focus isn't in which body she'll stay, but how she'll be shown as a character. I just hope she's not the shallow 90 character who just fights, speaks huge monologues and walks around half-naked or sometimes fully naked. Betsy has a strong personality; I hope the current Marvel writers are able to show that.

they should change her costume at least. i think she's the only character in uncanny who hasn't had a new costume in like 15 years, and if she ever gets a new one it only lasts a few issues. i'm sick of that look. new hair or outfit or something please!

psionic ninja? i have no problem with that! i hope that knife is the ultimate focus of her telepathic/telekinetic powers too!

FSaker, I agree with you on this. I love Betsy, not matter the body that she has at any given moment, so I can't understand how some of her so-called "fans" can spew so much hate towards the asian side of her.

Psylocke has been a great character to read, despite having been written poorly at times.

I'll speak for me and no one else when I say it's not hate towards her asian side, it's hate towards how she was handled afterwards. In the beggining she was this force to be reckoned with, but then she satrted to gravitate towards insignificant, she was poorly handled. Which is why I have such faith in Matt Fraction. I do hope the tranference is permanent and that that is Kwannon in the the alternate cover of 510, 'cause the look is classic, the rbbon is not red, but pink, just like Betsy used to wear it.

I do hope the transference is permanent too. To put her back in her British body, just to return her to the Asian one few issues later would be stupid and convulated. And I hate this stupid ninja bathing suit. lol

I want Betsy to permanently stay in her British body but I don't "hate" her Asian side. The fans don't "hate" her Asian side either. It's just obnoxious that the body swap took place in the first place and continued for so many years. All of the other X-men have their own classic looks and have pretty much stayed with the same powers throughout the comics run. What if they put Storm or Emma in a different body for more than 15 years?! That's right - they never would. The Asian Psyclocke is what I grew up with but she changed constantly. Look! now I'm a telepathy! no now I have telekinesis! no wait now i can smash mountains and fly! no wait now i can transport myself through shadows!

it's like C'MON already, put her back where she started, powers, body and all.

Yes I agree, she was mis-used for so many years. I liked Psylocke in the missions just prior to the whole siege perilous debacle, where we saw a Betsy that didn't know how to fight, the way she does now at least, but was still a great character, strong-willed, determined, cunning, a great strategist. That's the Betsy I'm looking forward to, someone who, despite her physical limitations, was still a force to be reckoned with.

That's my point: I loved British Betsy and I loved Asian Betsy, but A-Betsy was sometimes so poorly written; ice-queen, constant power changes, the total focus of blah blah blah and the suit! The damn ninja/bathing suit, it's no different than Elektras, yet that suit has painted Betsy as some kind of...I don't know, trollop?

I'm starting to warm up to the idea of having both Betsy and Kwannon back (in their respective bodies), but if that doesn't happen, I hope Betsy wont be trashed just because she might stay "asian" - although that would be an extremly cruel thing to do by Fraction, since I'm looking forward to have Betsy in her original body - I really, REALLY do! ;-)
