April 2009 Solicits

Uncanny X-Men #508 & #509
Written by: Matt Fraction
Pencils & Covers by: Greg Land
The X-Men get up to the delicate art of living as the Sisterhood plan their imminent demise. The Science Team gets to work, trying very hard not to kill one another first. Simon Trask gains traction in the California state legislature, muscling PROPOSITION X to an emergency ballot vote. If it passes, mutants past and present, powered and otherwise, won't be allowed to breed... all this and a friend returns as a foe and ready for murder. Oh, things are getting ugly.

Note: We all know which friend returns (as a foe?), Marvel just doesn't want to spoil it yet. ;)

Marvels: Eye of the Camera #5 (of 6)
Written by: Kurt Busiek
Pencils & Cover by: Jay Anacleto
The Hulk destroys a town! The FF get a new HQ! X-Factor debuts! The Sub-Mariner joins the Avengers! The Masters of Evil attack! Magneto goes on trial! Big news. But where's Phil Sheldon? Is he covering the stories? Can he? As we approach the fateful finale, Phil faces a deadline -- and old friends rally round.

Now Fraction's comment about us hating him at first but loving him at the end of the story arc makes much more sense. Although, to be honest, I'm actually quite excited with the idea of Betsy becoming a temporary villainess! And of course, who can resist an uber-HOT villainesses team of Maddy, Deathstrike, Spiral and Psylocke??

I have one doubt, though: who are the two gals crouched on the cover? I assume one of them is Martinique Jason, so... does that mean the blonde one is Regan Wyngarde (a.k.a. Lady Mastermind)?? That would be awesome!!

Or maybe one of them could be Betsy disguised with a wig/bleached hair...

I thought it was Cordelia Frost. Not sure though.

Anyone else hate the mistake of Asian Betsy drawage on Eyes of the Camera cover?

MARVEL GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!!

The two girls are Martinique and Regan Wyngard -- the Ladies Mastermind!

I don't think Betsy looks Asian on the Eyes of the Camera cover. She looks quite ugly, though.

I wonder if this means the 80's X-Men (including her, of course) will appear in the story or if their choice for the cover was just aesthetic...

When Spiral was recruited for this group she was working on an android that responded. Could it be a stand in for Psylocke?

Wasn't Lady Deathstrike the android Spiral was working on? That's what I understood.

Nah, if Betsy is with the Sisterhood of Mutants, she's probably not being manipulated by Spiral. Since Jamie ressurrected her she's invulnerable to any kind of alteration, remember?
