#tbt: Uncanny X-Men #218

#tbt: Uncanny X-Men #218 – After the X-Men rescue Longshot beneath a pile of rubble, they decide they need to fight him as a team. Thanks to their newly developed teamwork, they're able to remove Juggy's helmet and crash-land him into some train tracks. Unfortunately a train is coming. Rogue and Longshot take to the train while Dazzler and Psylocke stick to Juggy. Both sides are successful and two tragedies are averted. Written by Chris Claremont and art by Marc Silvestri. Read full summary here.

I love these throwbacks to the real Psylocke!!!

And I love that her psycho-blast could penetrate his helmet when not even Xavier's psi-bolts could... hinting at both her telekinetic and omega-level telepathy. If I were her, I'd use that feat way more than the psychic kife. Though is the psychic knife supposed to be more deadly at full strength since it's "the focused totality??" Hell, I'd use both.

CBG,

Mutant Massacre (including Nightcrawler & Shadowcat)/Outback was my favorite line-up too. I second your motion to bring them
back in a team book with Storm
as leader. I feel like this roster never got a good run due to all the tragedy that befill them, such as the Mutant Massacre in the tunnels, the X-Men dying in Dallas and going into hiding, Madeline being corrupted/Inferno, Master Mold/Nimrod and Rogue going through the Siege, Longshot's identity crisis and subsequent resignation, Wolvie's dessertion of them to do bullshit as "Patch" inMadripoor or God knows wherelse. Storm's "death"/kidnapping. And finally, Psylocke's psychic flash of the Reavers slaughtering the remaining team that forced her to telepathically persuade them through the Siege Perilous, thus ending this roster's run. This team got a lot of shit thrown at them until they were ground to dust and shattered across the world. Oddly enough since all of that, I'dsay that every sing person from this roster is now stronger and more resilieng then ever and would be a force to be reckoned with now, including Longshot since his run in David's X-Factor. I would love for this roster (with Shadowcat and Nightcrawler added) to be revisited as a team book!

I miss this team, too... when Marvel announced that one of the "nations" in Secret Wars' Battleworld would be inspired in the Inferno crossover, I was hopeful that we would finally see these specific X-Men reunited again... then it was shown that it's a completely different team in it (only Colossus remains, now followed by Nightcrawler, Domino and Boom-Boom).

To add insult to injury, the 1990s X-Men "nation" is indeed inspired in the animated series, not the comic books: http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/90s-animated-x-men-return-in-digital-exclusive-x-men-92

I guess it means Psylocke won't be featured in it, either. And the A-Babies vs. X-Babies territory seems to be more based on Magik, so if baby Psylocke appears in it, it will probably be just as a minor cameo: http://www.newsarama.com/23761-little-iron-man-shoots-first-in-giant-size-little-marvel-avx-1-first-look.html

Hopefully the House of M teaser can be trusted, so that at least one nation in Secret Wars will give a decent participation to Betsy (even if it's just an alternate-world Betsy)...

Couldn't figure out a better place so I'll just post this here.

I don't know if you guy's ever watch Kevin Smith's "Comic Book Men" show but the season 4 episode 12 features a Psylocke statue.
Kevin Smith's assistant Ashley joins the staff for a few days and her first customer is a girl who is interested in the San Diego Comic Com Exclusive statue.
It turns out that Ashley is also a fan of Betsy and she and the customer actually share a bonding moment.

Here's a cool redesign I just saw of what the Outback Team would look like now if there were to reunite: http://lightengale.deviantart.com/art/X-Men-Return-To-Oz-518398870

Yeah, that's pretty cool. The Psylocke costume is quite wonderful. Like a combo between the original pink and the X-Force costumes. Marvel should buy that design from the artist.
