X-Force #28 Spoilers

Spoilers originally provided by invisiblefive over at the CBR forums. All credit goes to him! :D

Spoilers: Thor tries to uneffectively break the dome from the outside, where thousands have gathered to pray for the X-Men to save their relatives trapped on the inside. Inside the dome, Cable, in full techno organic form, manages to keep the temporal door open long enough for the X-Force team to walk through it. He then looks at Hope and suddenly explodes, leaving only his metallic arm behind. Bastion, Lang and Creed watch from the top of a mountain as the time sphere collapses. Creed and Lang try to convince Bastion that the game is over. Bastion refuses to let the girl live, turns into battle mode, and flies towards the bridge. Hope remembers the moment she asked Cable how she would know when she's ready, and he told her she would know the same way she has ever known anything else. Cyclops tells Hope he's sorry and tries to put his hand over her shoulder, when she replies that if he ever put his hand on her again, he will lose it because it was all his fault. Suddenly Bastion destroys the Golden Gate Bridge passing through it. Most X-Men falls into the water. Hope emerges from it, only to be confronted by Bastion, Lang and Creed, all in Nimrods form. They attack her, when, suddenly, she forms an armor. Bastion realises that her mutant powers just appeared, but he can't classify them, nor calculate them. Hope then blasts him with an optic blast he can't adapt to. Her hand turn into metal, and she punches right through him. As she remembers Cable's words, Hope touches the ground and forms an energy shield. Bastion says she is not the messiah, but the adversary, and that if she survives, nothing will survive. Hope turns into the Phoenix and blasts Bastion. Wolverine, Colossus and Emma are shocked. Logan tells Emma there's nothing she can do now. Bastion manages to grasp Hope's neck, and states that despite his original programming, he will take great pleasure in killing hope. Cyclops blasts his arm, and Wolverine jumps on him, killing him "for Kurt". Hope touches the ground again, saying she's ready now, going full Phoenix Force, and blasting Bastion and the dome all at once. The Avengers rejoices that Summers managed to pull it, while, in Utopia, every mutant just stares at Hope, levitating, like a true Phoenix...

So Hope is not Jean. But Jean's return is now closer than ever...

interesting.....but I guessed it would end with Hope using the Phoenix Force. the sad thing is that Cable is dead for a good 5-10 years.

Well, I can't say I'll miss Cable, or Kurt, or Ariel, or Vanisher... They were just so whatever to me.

But they'll all be back, Anonymous. haha. That's the stupid thing. Deaths don't mean anything in Marvel.

Wow. SO GLAD I don't read these titles anymore. This is rubbish!!

Nice summary! But have you managed to read the actual issue? And if so, did you like it?

Just out of curiosity, really. I just want to know how good (or bad) Second Coming is. So far, it seemed it was better than Utopia, Necrosha and Messiah War, but worse than Messiah CompleX... is it?

In two years we'll look back at Hope as the biggest x-fiasco of the decade

ughhh... seriously? phoenix? again?

Well, so what are her powers? She has the Phoenix power but she also has other mutants' powers... how is that possible?

What about Legion and Xavier, do they appear at all or the SC creative team just forgot the two of them were taking part in the Golden Gate bridge?

And are Bastion, Creed and Lang finally dead? Since Hope blasted Bastion with the Phoenix Force it seems he's dead, but there are no indications that Creed and Lang suffered the same fate...

But the issue was nice, and Betsy appeared in some panels. Too bad in one of them the X-Men are falling off the bridge and Betsy is in an angle where all we can see is her ass... again.

Oops, let me correct one line of my previous post:

What about Legion and Xavier, do they appear at all or the SC creative team just forgot the two of them were taking part in the Golden Gate bridge BATTLE?

I'd guess the next big X-storyline is Jean is coming back to save the x-people from Hope.

Xavier helps Legion control his personalities, and Legion helps out briefly. Nothing special. The art was cool when inside Legions head though.

@FSaker - What you said about Second Coming being second only to Complex is pretty spot on.
Other than continuity problems with the art (primarily in X Force issues)its been pretty enjoyable IMO.
Colossus had his arm broken in the previous chapter, but is seen punching away at sentinels just fine in this issue. And wolverines costume regen'ed again. But as usual with these Marvel events, you need to wait for the final chapter before casting a final judgement.

lol, continuity problems didn't just plague X-force art, any issue Fraction wrote had continuity issues outside of his first contribution. This event was better than Messiah War (despite being more elongated and meandering more so than that event did), but I don't think that's much of an accomplishment considering this is the end of the trilogy that is supposed to be tying up several things. If 14 issues + several tie-ins can't accomplish that, then there's a problem.

But... you gotta love Phoenix Hope with concussive eye beams, right? Right?

I am a bit let down by this whole Second Coming thing I just connot see what they are going to do with Hope?

I've just had a look back over my collection and brought out X-Cutioners Song that was a Crossover event what has happened to the writing recently?

WHY oh WHY cant people stay dead? How many times has Xavier supposedly been shot and killed I am convinced he has a healing factor as well?

Continuity has been attroicious as said before with collosus's arm? simple things like that? wheres the organisation between the creative team here?

And we all knew the Pheonix would appear again as they hinted at it when Hope was a baby in Messiah Complex so to drag out yet another Pheonix lifeline for so long is just unimaginative

And now their next planned thing is to have the First Five "Lights" being new mutants appearing sound like a reversed Batllestar Galactica much?

Also I know marvel have been retconing a lot recently but how has Bishop been in the MU for sooo long and not ever mentioned anything about Hope? he went on and on about the Traitor which he originally thought was Gambit then turned out to be Xavier as Onslaught but then absolutley nothing about Hope????

Next will happen is that cable isnt dead he has just been sent forward through the timestream to when he sent Bishop he will find a holodisc or something showing Hope gone crazy because she thought he was dead. Cable will then realise he had been wrong and him and Bishop will fashion a time machine out of Cables entire body as the TO virus has fully taken over, travel back in time and kill hope!

Anyway rant over, Some of the action has been great some of the artwork has been spectacular I just wish there had been a bit more care and attention to detail
