Oh this is going to be Betsy's year, that's for sure! :)

Wow, Djurdjevic's poster looks AMAZING! And it seems to point that Havok and Polaris will be featured in the Uncanny X-Force's Apocalypse arc (but where is Rachel? Did she decide to stay in space and have bird babies with Korvus?). It's weird that Prof. X is in a wheelchair and that dead people are in the poster (Nightcrawler, Jean, Cable, Sinister, Bastion) - but other than that, it looks great!

Opeña's art in Uncanny X-Force looks MUCH better than I expected. I'd still pick Choi over him, but it's definitely not bad.

And when I first saw the Road to Hell cover, I thought it was a cover for Uncanny X-Force indicating that X-23 and Daken would join the team. I like both characters, by the way, although Daken wouldn't be the safest choice for a team... he'd backstab all his teammates at the first opportunity. Even Vanisher was more trustworthy...

who are those two women on either side of rogue in the huge poster?

The one on the left looks like mercury but its not so it might be danger but she doesn't have red hair or human looking hair for that matter. Could it be a female sentinal?

The one on the right I'm not sure if thats male or female or who it is?

I hope sabortooth will return as well, which would be great since wolverine and besty are on the same team an we know how much they hate victor creed.

The people around Rogue from left to right are: New Mutant Girl (one of the 5 lights), Hope, Mercury, Armor and Hellion. ^^

I know it's just a cover, but Polaris and Havok would be great additions to Uncanny X-Force!

AMAZING POSTER.

OMG SO AWESOME!!

Yes, yes, yes to Havok being part of Uncanny X-Force!!

You know, Djurdjiev's poster is gorgeous, I've already said that.

Do you all know what is NOT gorgeous? The fact that Psylocke still has no "X" badge in her uniform like if it were so difficult to add one in her sash; yet we can see "X" badges in Fantomex's outfit, in DEADPOOL's outfit, and even Archangel (who didn't have this badge in his uniform while in his Archangel persona before and during Second Coming, only in his Angel one) got one!!

I think this is very disrespectful to Psylocke, she's probably the only member of the X-Men who doesn't have the badge for people (and readers not familiar with the X-Men characters) to recognize her as part of the team. Come on, Fantomex and Deadpool aren't even part of the X-Men and they got one...

Anonymous said...

It's just a stupid badge...

They probably didn't want to spoil Psylocke's unique costume with a badge. Do you really think a badge would work with the rest of it? I don't. It would look stupid. Here's to leaving her costume unfettered.

Also, I don't think it's disrespectful, but the total opposite.

Dont like Dakens new outfit, the mohawk should be on show!

Do you think theres any relevance to all these people being on that cover, some of its a bit dated to be current events.

Betsy shouldnt get back with Warren it will ruin her.

Warren >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sabretooth, Thunderbird 3 or whatever crap character CC wants to be with her.

FSaker said...

I actually liked AoA-Sabretooth. Although I agree it's weird to place her with a man who looks exactly like the one who eviscerated her...

Still, Kurt >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Warren. Kurt was funny, gentle, enjoyed adventures and fights, he was the perfect match for Betsy. Warren is just a shallow playboy most of the time, a whining emo during some other time, and a psycho when he gets mad. Not the best date for Psylocke (or for any woman). Damn, I'd even pair her up with Fantomex over Warren.

Betsy is becoming a true force again on the X-Men.

@FSaker
Completely disagree. Nightcrawler is BORING. Thank God he and the disgusting thought of Burtsy is dead.

Warren gave a piece of his sould to save Betsy! If that ain't true love, I don't know what it is.

@anon, "Do you think theres any relevance to all these people being on that cover, some of its a bit dated to be current events."

Here's the answer, "Marco Djurdjevic's X-Men poster will be dividing into covers of the X-titles over the next several months."

Meaning we will probably see all of these people back. Jean is most likely to return next year. Kurt will come back soon, most likely because of Amanda Sefton. Alex and Lorna is supposed to come back from space in a few more arcs to come. Etc.

Kurt can be no more than a little brother to Betsy if any relationship is to be believable. The thought of them boinking is like having her boink a stuffed animal.

If the sequencing of the covers says anything about the future of the characters, it leads me to believe Magneto goes bad again, and Daken also.

I don't know who this incarnation of the Nimbo pretending to be Elisabeth Braddock is, but I'm done with it. The Nimbo has purple hair and calls herself "Betsy", that does not make her the person / character she once was.

I've been an Elisabeth fan since the early days in Captain Britain's Marvel UK comics. Whomever they're painting a Nimbo/Hand costume on this year isn't the character I grew fond of years ago.

As far as I'm concerned, the real Elisabeth 'died' a long time ago and has never come back to us. The strumpet they're passing off as the 'kewl, hawt ninja-babe' is a shallow two-dimensional parody.

Yes, I've seen the shallow, overly graphically violent LS they did. It didn't do squat for her, other than show she's a piece of fanboy candy. That's it.

They've eviscerated not only Elisabeth's nature and character, but Emma Frost and a number of other strong female characters as well over the past 10 years, if not 15-20. It's not always been as sudden as Elisabeth's, but for Emma and others, it's been a slow, painful erosion. And that makes me sad and angry.

Continuity? That's something Marvel seems to have an allergic reaction to, because it's mostly non-existent. They're basically doing away with any such thing and just going the route of anything to make a buck.

And that's pretty damned sad, too.
I think I'm going to move on now, because there's nothing left for a 40-something lady, who grew up with the X-men and Excalibur as long time companions throughout school and university, anymore.

Well... You say that this is not a legitimate incarnation of Betsy but you don't explain why. So basically, 'she's not the same' and/or 'I don't like her.' So, um, okay. Why?

I would also love them to delve more into her character. Not just in a solo series, which was pretty good by the way, but in a team title. Interaction has a lot to do with it.

I also grew up with Betsy, but I prefer post-Acts of Vengeance PSylocke. Also, what the heck's a "Nimbo"?

Anonymous said...

@niniri: Completely agree with most of your points. Current Psylocke is just a sad joke.

Like the Nimbo term. Did you coin it yourself? lol

@anon: Nimbo = Ninja + Bimbo

This Psylocke is the one I grew up knowing, as is the case with most comic book readers. Any flaws the character may have is purely a matter of writing, and has no bearing on my perception of the character: Strong, independent, smart, sexy.

I'm ok with them retaining her trademark Hand outfit, although an upgrade similar to her Ultimate Alliance uniform would have been nice. I mean, changing the color of her sash doesn't really qualify as an image makeover.

Other than that, I am excited for Psylocke's role in the upcoming months. Let's hope they don't mess her up even more / kill her again.

Anonymous said...

Lol. She didn't make any 'points.' She didn't back up her general statement that current Betsy is a 'nimbo' and she wants things to be back the way they were when she was reading the comic in school.

Also, 'nimbo'... um, sorry. That's just lame. It's funny when people reply anonymously to their own comment and 'agree' with themselves.

Moral of the story: you can't please everyone. :)

Talk about drama.

Well... You say that this is not a legitimate incarnation of Betsy but you don't explain why. So basically, 'she's not the same' and/or 'I don't like her.' So, um, okay. Why? Co-signed.

These aren't people, they don't exist. They are suppose to change and evolve over the years if their writers feel like it. Stop living in a museum. Stop think about the good old days of yorn. Stop living in a dream of the past.

I can't stand these people claiming Psylocke is a victm of evil editors and evil writers. Cyclops has changed, Emma has changed, Jean has changed, Storm has changed, Rogue has changed. It's not just Psylocke. Characters change all the time. Don't like it? That's too bad, but this is the real Psylocke, like it or not.

I want this poster NOW.

Funny that her "new" black costume looks the same old blue most of the time. haha

Im suprised everyone has counter defended Niniris statements usually the fans trash Betsy. I will just say if anything going into an undercover team that are ok with the ends justifying the means is 100% who Betsy was when she came into the X-men.

And whoever said that they will bring back Cable or Kurt in the next year is living on planet Gaga that aint happening for atleast 5 years such is death in Marvel Universe.

no more x titles! said...

@Niniri, I remember you from the Betsy Braddock forums!
Anyway, I completely agree. I try & rationalize it as saying the character we've seen since the "body swap".. ahem cough.. is a mix of Kwannon & Psylocke.
But you are completely right & your reasons are legit. A lot of fans are leaving the series as Marvel's money-hunger becomes more evident (not to mention terrible arc idea after terrible arc idea... etc.)

Peace
