Fraction is back with his boringness... Bring it on new adjectiveless "X-Men"! Show him what you got!

Whet my appetite? Quite the opposite.
(except for Hope. I don't know what to think about her yet).

"As you wish."

I like Namor. Can he do something interesting, like for example sleep with someone?

Marvel vs Capcom 3 announced!

Personally I don't think Betsy will be a likely candidate but its still great news!!!

WHO IS THAT FACE ON THE COVER OF UNANNY FIVE LIGHTS? HOPE?BETSY? X-23?KITTY?

It sucks that Psylocke isn't in the cover of either Second Coming #2 or in X-Men #1 (I know, she's in the Medina variant, but she should appear in the Granov one as well).

Fortunately Milo Manara remembered of her! This X-Women book should be released in Brazil; I hope it is!

By the way, does anyone have any idea of who may be the mysterious penciler for Second Coming #2?

It's quite interesting that so far, Second Coming #2 has no name as penciler, but FOUR names as writers...

It's Hope.
SC is amazing so far, but it looks nothing will change. Uncanny is still boring Cyclops/Emma/Magneto/Namor fest. Legacy is still crappy students no one cares about. NM and X-Factor = boring. Who would thought that X-Men Twilight would be the only exciting book for me. :/

@Anonymous -3:48 - Hi, I'm sorry to disagree, but I think Betsy will make Marvel vs. Capcom 3. I have a feeling that most if not all of the original characters from MVC2 will return. Psylocke was definitely one of the more popular female characters on the Marvel side, and I don't see her being excluded from the game given her popularity in the present, especially in Marvel X-Men fighting games.

Best Regards,
centurion.

I know this discussion is not explicitly based on the upcoming Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, but I think that what was a definitive factor in MVC2s success was the fact that the game had so many memorable characters, even though not all of them were well balanced. I don't see this game having less than the original 56 characters, and now that DLCs are available, the cast of characters could conceivably increase to 60-70.

As long as we get variety with well balanced characters, I don't see there being anything to complain about. Anyone that is smart who is developing Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 will keep the roster from MVC2, retool the existing characters, and add some new ones appropriate to the changes in the Marvel and Capcom franchises over the past decade. Much has changed since 1999-2000, so I see the new game reflecting that as well. I think MVC3 will be a resounding success if it stays with this formula - Don't fix what isn't broken, enhance the original characters, yet plan for scalability in the sense of future character expansions etc. From a sales point of view, removing just ONE character could be the decisive factor in a person's decision to buy the game, so I think the safest bet is to keep the original characters from MVC2 and just expand. If you don't like a character, simply just don't use him/her. That's common sense, but likes and dislikes for character choices are subjective, needless to say.

My bet is that our favorite purple haired ninja will be among the cast of characters, I just hope that she has several alternate costumes, not just different colored versions.

Best,
centurion

@Centurion - Hi! Unfortunately, not everyone from MvC2 will return to MvC3; Kotaku reported that, according to the development team, MvC3 will have a total of just a little more than 30 characters...

Psylocke definitely has a better chance to return than most of the Marvel characters in MvC2 (Shuma-Gorath, Blackheart, Marrow, Spiral, Silver Samurai, Omega Red, bone-clawed Wolverine, Sentinel, Thanos, War Machine, perhaps even Cable). The problem is: not all the characters in MvC3 are returning ones, there will be also brand-new ones (it seems Deadpool and Super-Skrull are two of them), making it harder to get a spot.

In her favor, Psylocke is getting more popular in the USA recently, and she seems to be quite popular in Japan and other Asian countries. Let's hope this can guarantee her presence in the new game!

Psylocke is a perfect character for a fighting game. It would make no sense to leave her out from the game.
First, she actually knows how to fight without her powers.
Second, her powers fit perfectly to a fighting game. Tk katana, tk enhanced strikes, psi-knife and psi blasts are very logical for a game like this.

Plus they definitely need to have some female characters from Marvel in this game. I just hope they wont go with Elektra instead. Which would be stupid since she doesn't have any special abilities.

I have been thinking about getting a PS3 or X-BOX in not so distant future and if this game turns out to be good it might just be enough to push me ahead with it.
However no Psylocke might mean no MvC3 for me.

Im sorry guys i hate it but i just dont see her making the cut of this 30. At the moment shes pretty big in the comics buts that's only very recently just happened and judging by the interviews marvel are taking the inclusion of characters very seriously this time around. Blatantly they will be pushing characters with solo comics, Tv series and movie deals, pure A-list people. Plus you have to consider if its 30 characters 15 of those are marvel only and then that 15 has to be divided between marvel u and X-men so that narrows it to roughly 7 places including heroes and villains at best that could be X characters. Also the original vs game that started it all was X-men children of the atom that came hot on the heels of Betsys Jim Lee era 90s success and she was included in all the games due to Capcoms reuse of sprites, hence why prominent X-characters of the time never showed up.

If we assume that at least 1 X-gal will be in I think the most likely candidate will be Storm. Due to her god tier status in MVC2 and her permanent prominence in marvel U. If i had to guess 2nd place i would guess either Jean or Emma and in third I imagine it would be between Rogue or Psylocke with Psylocke being the favourable because of her fighting style and easier representation of her powers. Thats if Mystique doesnt show up and wreck things.

Im really hoping Psylockes pal Cammy has a strong chance of making it but even her im not holding my breath for! Very happy with Chris Redfield, Morrigan and Frank West however so I have a team atleast!

lol Alonso has said "They would never kill Cyclops, ever!" Looks like Uncanny will still be Emclops with Fraction and Legacy's not changing either. Marvel will probably put their heavy hitters first in a MvC game, Thor, Wolverine, Spiderman, Ironman etc

@J77 - Hi. You see that's the point I was trying to make... If ONE character is eliminated, it could mean the difference between a "buy" and a "pass" for a gamer. Emma could be a choice, but I never saw her as fitting the profile for a martial character in a Marvel versus series fighting game.

I just have a strange feeling we will see a future post on this blog stating that Betsy is a confirmed character for MvC3.

@Anonymous 9:04PM - It's possible, but many thought that Betsy wouldn't make Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, and she did. Yes, indeed, these are two different games, but if you look at it, Psylocke conceptually fits the template well for a potential character in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Something tells me that Iceman may not make the final cut, and maybe Blackheart, but I strongly feel Betsy will be among the characters chosen. The 30 characters is not the final list, and the devs already stated that they are trying to get as many characters in the game as possible. Yes, this does not mean that Psylocke will be among the final chosen characters, but it would be stupid to not include her. As I mentioned earlier, DLCs can be utlizied to expand the character roster and improve the game's longevity.

@Fsaker - Hey there! Let's ask our selves the question of whether 30 playable characters also included unlockables/special characters? What if there are a total of 30 characters available at the start of the game, but then others can be purchased/downloaded after gaining gaming points as it was in the Dreamcast version.

One of the crucial factors I think that will make or break Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is casting of the characters. I've seen so many responses on forums throughout the internet regarding this game that advocate strongly for keeping as many of the original characters as possible and just adding to it. As long as Betsy is included, this game is going to be a dream come true!

Hello, sorry to continue the off-topic topic of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. They have stated that they might have to limit characters, because of time. Which is a lame excuse, because they have time and we all know that they will keep adding until the game is released.

Maybe 30 was the number, because 30 characters are already on the disc when the trailer was released. Meaning that they ALREADY have 30 created and done; adding on, that they want as many characters as possible.

I highly doubt that there will be less characters than in MvC2 (which is 56).

Back to topic... the vampires can prove interesting, boring, or exciting. We will just have to wait and see. If Betsy doesn't have a huge role, at least (hopefully) she will be on the best, current team: X-Force!! Where she can really shine :]

@Anonymous 1:51AM - Yes, I agree. I can't see this game having less characters than Marvel vs. Capcom 2. I'm sure the devs are carefully examining which characters did well in Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and then determine which of those characters will be slated to return in the next. If the devs are aiming at quantity, they certainly have a wide selection of characters. I bet Betsy is already among the characters chosen to return in MvC3.
