I have to say, I don't hate this. Which is strange because I usually loathe X-Men Forever. And Sana Takeda's art looks worlds better from when last I saw it.
I also have to say I appreciate the decision to keep Betsy's top buttoned up rather than showing massive amounts of cleavage, as well as giving her a costume that covers her up for the most part. I think it helps work away from her that oversexualized image she's given because we're reminded of her character value.
I guess she just grabbed a blade from one of the genin after defeating him. Probably she didn't have the real blade when she made that comment.
Anyway, while I'm completely supportive that Betsy gets an outfit that actually covers her body, I'm probably the first person commenting here that didn't like this choice. The outfit she's wearing in this story is extremely generic, it's just the standard X-outfit. Matching this with the colorist giving her dark brown hair, I would swear this was Kitty Pryde after growing up and getting silicone implants off-panel, if it weren't for the real Kitty Pryde also appearing in the panel. This is a case where I'd actually prefer the blue bathing suit; as cheesecakey as it is, at least it is an outfit that belongs just to her.
But anyway, Logan's alive? I assume the Hand revived him after his stupid death in Forever #1, right?
I LOVE her lines & how this is written. The art is great too, except for one or two shots with the blade. It's hard to tell in mots shots if it's real or not, which is ok I suppose. I like her in any costume that is NOT the butt-floss!!! While I hate the "generic" feel of it, perhaps this is a good sign that at least SOMEONE is working on making her a new one? I've seen one amazing redesignconcept someone drew on deviant art. Kimono style sleeves, if it were turned into a bodysuit, rather than shorts & a bellytop, it would be amazing. & a new type of iconic I think.
Anyway, very cool to see her being utilized rather than used!
@FSaker, she's wearing the generic BLue and Yellow uniform because this is a flashback story that happened during the days she wore that uniform. Same with Jubilee.
But she barely wore this uniform, if I remember... she first wore it instants before she and the other Storm's X-Men were abducted by Lila Cheney to the Shiar Empire. Then, they went from the Shiar Empire straight to Muir Island. From Muir Island, Xavier reformed the team and gave them new uniforms.
So we should assume this issue takes place between the Shadow King battle and the famous X-Men #1-#3 arc?
OMG... I disagree completely with all the other people who want to change her outfit to something more prudish. Why is it that it's a problem on Betsy, when essentially her 'bathing suit' is the same bathing suit for Ms. Marvel, Electra, and a million other female characters but y'all have a problem with it on Betsy? Yes, they should probably not draw her bum in a thong, but they have been covering her butt for a while now. Covering her up and giving her some ugly boring costume is not the solution. Her stripey outfit is fine and awesome as long as they don't make the butt part a thong. I can't see why you would want her in an X-Costume, New Mutants style, or to give her some ugly thing that was seen in fan art. NOOOOO.
This is a pleasant surprise. Betsy's role here is certainly more than just eye candy or simply fore/background scenery. Maybe she will be a team leader in X-Men Forever. I'm looking for Betsy to make appearances in X-Force :) WOW. What a month! On another note, my bets are on that our BETSY will be in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (no pun intended).
I just took a careful look at these scans again. Love that tension between Betsy and Wolverine during the fight. I was always hoping there would be some kind of "relationship" between the two of them that went beyond that professional affinity for combat and martial arts. Maybe some day...
well i for one think she looks terrible. her eyes are half open and crossed and make her look drugged up. her lips are so thin it's like she just licked a lemon with the rancid look on her face. her body is super thick. her costume is ugly. she'd be uglier with the thongkini though because her huge ass and body drawn this way would look revolting in it. she doesn't look mixed raced or asian at all, she looks like an ugly british woman with a jacked up bitter face who is goth and puts on black lipstick and dyes her hair black. the whole thing sucks. kitty and jubilee look adorable but betsy looks like a smashed bitch.
Thats so over the top she looks good. Ok she doesnt look asian but she still looks good and i can tell its Betsy.
If anything is bad its Claremonts typical over explanations. Does Betsy really need to engage in a conversation with brain washed Wolverine while she is fighting him to explain that she is psychic and had martial arts training. Its not like he doesnt know all this so who the hell is she saying this for!
Any chance of Betsy becoming a regualar in forever?
@ April 27 Anonymous... "since when did psylocke have BLACK hair?????? DAMN it's always SOMETHING with betsy not being respected.
Psylocke is described as dying her hair to make it purple (both in her original body and her new body). Her natural hair color isn't purple. It was blond in her British body and black in her Asian/Hybrid body.
Maybe she didn't have time to dye her hair while on this mission.

I like Sana Takeda's art here. I'd like to see her do a Psylocke one shot or even a mini some day.
I actually like Betsy in this costume. And I also love this team of Betsy, Kurt, Kitty, and Jubilee. At least Betsy is actually doing stuff...
Is this the first appearance of Jubilee in forever? I love Psylocke's attitude here and I'm so glad Sana Takeda's drawn Psylocke, I love his work
*her* work
wasn't there an inconsistency that the sword was supposedly not real when she stabbed the hand but real when logan sliced it in half.

amen brother
Personally I don´t care if she´s put in a thong again but ONLY if her character is well written AND no ass close-ups. ;)

@Anonymous 4:47PM - I sincerely hope she is a regular in X-Men Forever, and that she is included in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Then I can die a happy man!
Cheers,
centurion.
lol, you're right - she totally looks like a white goth girl with black lipstick and dyed black hair. haha.
Looks like Betsy's been smoking some mary jane.
what a F-ING FAIL on marvel's part. if storm were in a new 5.00 comic with f-ing PINK hair or POLARIS with ORANGE hair, it wouldn't pass inspection.
since when did psylocke have BLACK hair?????? DAMN it's always SOMETHING with betsy not being respected.
This is ridiculous.Betsy may be an "action-junkie",but she always taunts her enemies with class, whereas here she's acting like a female berserker.
No news about this week's X-Force issue?
