Do you guys like the art? I'm not sure yet.

They should make up a story of the origins of Betsy's butterfly.

I'm loving Nightcrawler's new outfit.

How does she fight with those boobs? Look at the size of them!

The art's okay by me. I really wish Tolibao hadn't drawn her breasts so large. Still, she looks cool and confident during the fight.

According to these scans the title of the book is "Psylocke: Kill Matsuo" (probably a working title). Does this mean the story is based on "Kill Bill"?

I LOVE the art. Especially because it's so detailed. I love when artists actually put efforct in backgrounds!

Whats wrong with huge breats?
Come on, you guys really have a problem with them?
Psylocke has always been a sexy kick-ass ninja, thats what people like, and thats what they trying to get back to her, the sexy psychic kick-ass ninja attitude.
She is popular for that, everyone miss the old good times with Jim Lee drowing the best Psylocke ever, and Tolibao is very Jim Leeish, so for me the mini looks just awesome.
Get out Disney dudes, great boobs are amazing!

lol I must agree with La Betsy. It's comic books. *Everyone* draws *every female character* with huge boobs. It's a given...

I was afraid Tolibao's pencil weren't good at all, but I've really liked this. Still, I'll wait for the trade (and the spoilers on this blog, of course)

Anonymous said...

There's nothing wrong with big breasts, but these are totally of proportion with her body. In one pic they look bigger than her head!

Psychilde said...

wow love the art for mini but the art for agents of atlas is questionable, and since when are cloak and dagger part of the X-men!! id love it if they were but theres just too many x-men nowadays!!! it seems everyone whos a mutant is an x-man. and whats up with the thin butterfly signatures??? anyaway besides from that this has been the best psylocke news week ever!!! best scans, best spoilers, best previews and the best solicits!!! i can die happy now (but not without reading the mini first though ;D )

Anonymous said...

You might as well want to check the Victoria Secrets catalog then, not a comic book... I really like these panels. I must admit I was afraid Tolibao's pencils wouldn't look that good though. Thank God, it's amazing!!!

Anonymous said...

@Psychild, Cloak and Dagger left the Dark X-Men to join the real X-Men in Utopia. It seems that every mutant now living in the island is an X-Men now... Not that I like it.

centurion said...

Fantastic art and coloring! Love Betsy's stance on the cover and the butterfly effect. She looks poised for battle and quite fearless!

centurion said...

I love the black and white scans of Psylocke # 1. Nice images of Betsy with plenty detail and action. Can't wait for them to be colored. Betsy can certainly hold her own in a fight.

centurion said...

I guess it could be said that Uncanny has too many characters and Legacy too few...

Psychilde said...

Yes thats right centurion, cloak and dagger would feel more at home in legacy, plus they should get all the random mutants away froim any book and start dividing the heavy hitters up into seperate books : )

centurion said...

@La Betsy - I am not one of the guys complaining about the boobs, though I am more interested in Psylocke's character development in the mini. It's a given that she will be gorgeous. You are right, though :) Jim Lee did a fine Psylocke back in the day. Many are feeling the nostalgic pinch of the Jim Lee Psylocke days... I am one of them :)

centurion said...

@Psychilde - Hi. How are you? Yes, I think there may be potential for a 90s Blue and Gold team all over again. Of course, not "Blue" and "Gold" per se, but something similar to it. Having glanced at the excerpt from Carey's podcast, his dream team has about 50 percent of the Blue team on it. I would like Emma Frost on Carey's ideal X-team with Psylocke.

You are right because Uncanny, although a well written book, has an abundance of characters, whereas Legacy needs more.

THE ART IS GORGEOUS!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!

Does anyone remember when Fraction kept saying the Uncanny was going to have the biggest fight scene he's ever written? He pumped it up for like three months and then it was the biggest let down ever!! Tolibao should have drawn it, these pages are RIDICULOUS!!!! That is what a battle should look like!

Anonymous said...

Gorgeous pages with loads of great action cant wait for this its ten years overdue!

centurion said...

@Mikey - Hi. Yep. That was a grandiose promise that was left unfulfilled... Already preordered my Psylocke #1.

Silverbrock said...

Oooh, yeah. I'm loving the new art for the mini. Love the close ups, the chaos and how different it is from Davis and Land right now. Its great to see all the variation we are getting right now with the character, for her to be in the front line and relevant to that position.
Keep the spoilers coming, someones doing a great job.

Francis said...

i definitely agree with Lucky Star and Centurion i LOVE that art... why do always people complain about anything? and for God's sake yes, i'm a boy and i like boobs...if psylocke's the most (naturally) prosperous x-woman why on earth should artists avoid to draw her like that?

centurion said...

@Francis - There are bound to be critics of virtually everything. These comics are not only written for die hard fans of Psylocke like most of us on this blog, but general readers, too. Land, Davis, Paquette, Tolibao et al. are very talented artists, and all have drawn beautiful versions of Psylocke, even though not all of those drawings of Betsy have been consistent.

Anonymous said...

i hate when psylocke fans who consider themselves "elite" on the boards constantly complain about other people complaining. you're making it worse. just shut the fuck up if you don't like what someone says because you're not going to change anyone's mind and you sound bitter.

La Betsy said...

Anonymous, you are doing exactly the same, complain, lol

In my case im just saying that, come on, this is comic-books. Of course i want character development, but when Betsy is drawn like a hot chick is another history. Is the way she should look, because everyone knows Psylocke is a sexy as hell ninja.
I think the mini, like Yost said is going to show why Psylocke rocks, showing her kicking asses like she didnt in the last years (the worst years for the character from after Psiwars, till Sisterhood)
And...

Silverbrock you are hot :)

Silverfox said...

Calm down, sweetheart. I understand you're pissed your attempts to make everyone hate the art by pointing out how ZOMGhuge! her breasts are failed miserably.

You are the one trying to change everyone's mind by talking about her breast all the time. Get over it, crybaby.

Oh, the art. I can't stop appreciating. In colors, it weill look fabulous.

Anonymous said...

Actually that it was me (a different Anonymous) that pointed out the breasts the first time. I wasn't complaining per se, just laughing at them because they seemed to get bigger with every scan. Otherwise the art is beautiful

FSaker said...

Yes, the art for her mini looks great! And the fight scenes look quite realistic. But I hope there is more to this mini than just fighting scenes between Betsy and a bunch of ninjas; some good plot and some good dialogue would be nice as well.

As for X-Men vs. Agents of Atlas (who are they?), I liked the art too. It's different from Psylocke's mini, but it is good in its own way.

As for the "boobs" debate, since her body swap she was always portrayed as a woman with big breasts, and Jim Lee showed that. Not that I would complain if any artist decided to reduce them to make her body more fit for a ninja fighter, but I don't mind her having big boobs, as long as they don't limit her to be some empty bimbo who has no personality but her boobs...

centurion said...

We should be more interested in Betsy's character development rather than her cleavage.

Seccruz said...

I find the title to be very cool: Psylocke: Deathwish. I hope they keep it!!!

PsySpears said...

OMFG,Those B&W pages are STUNNING.just Amazing. That is some great action and detail right there, even Betsys hair is moving fluidly.CANT WAIT NOW! I wasnt expecting somthing that good,i was expecting somthing like the Storm mini.

Oh and her boobs debacle.um Betsy ALWAYS had big boobs in the asain body, justy coz she has T&A dosent mean shes a bimbo.

The X-men cover is Great too,Psylocke centre stage, what more can u ask from an X-men cover

FSaker said...

@PsySpears - That's not a cover. From what I read, it is one of the interior pages of the X-Men vs. Agents of Atlas mini. There are also other pages shown, such as Storm attacking a creature, Namor coming from under the sea and other stuff; this one in this blog is just the only one of the preview pages that show Psylocke in it...

Psychilde said...

I think the titles 'deathwish' and 'kill mastuo' are titles for the issues not working titles for the series, coz if you look closely when it says issue 1 it says kill matsuo and in issue two it says deathwish

PsySpears said...

cool,my bad Fsaker ;)

centurion said...

@Fsaker - Gosh, I erred, too...

Hey, know this has nothing to do with this topic but I just found a new sketch of Psylocke by Skottie Young, who is one of my absoloute favourites at the moment, heres the link;

sorry guys,i did not explained my point properly. i just meant some people generally finds defects in
anything but if you don't like drawings or just think it differently you have to express your opinion, don't get mad ;)

@Centurion: that's right...i rarely complain about drawings as i think each artist is great in his little creative world...they all do excellent works and it's good to extract that kinda philosophy hidden behind a character depiction...i really appreciate the return of the butterfly :)

centurion said...

@Francis - Hi. So do I. I love the butterfly effect. If you have played the recent re-release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, you can see a nice manifestation of the butterfly effect.

Alexis Bennett said...

I'm sorry, I understand that Psylocke has often been drawn as a voluptuous woman since the body swap, but in these pages her breasts are comically large and distracting. It takes away from what is otherwise strong and fluid line art.

As a young girl I found Psylocke to be a character I wanted to identify with, as she was strong, sporty and had a bit of an attitude (it was the "revolution" era shown on the Metamorphosis side panel, which no doubt had its problems but I was too young to really notice them.) The fact that now I can't read a Psylocke book without becoming uncomfortable because of the way she is portrayed physically is a problem. I'm still interested in the book, but I find the fact that her sexiness has been more of an issue than her physical power and grace to be disconcerting.

@Tyrannosaurus-Lex - I see what you are saying and it is true. I guess this type of portrayal of popular X-girls like Psylocke relates to the presumed appetites of the audience and readership of comic books, which is largely assumed to be young men between the ages of 16-35.

As a guy, I will always love the voluptuous, busty version of Betsy, but she isn't a one dimensional character, and her looks are only half the reason why I adore her character.

That's my biggest fear: Betsy's great character and potential being wasted on this stereotyped busty girl model. Even in the Jim Lee days when I was a boy, I was attracted to Psylocke's attitude, power set, and of course, her looks.

Bets had a commanding presence on the team in those days and still does, though she has the potential for much more development. In the early 1990s, she singlehandedly dueled Matsuo and Omega Red in what is now called X-Men Legacy, and she defeated them. This is the Betsy I want to see in this upcoming mini. Not afraid to challenge dangerous foes, but also conscious of her limitations and her ability to further hone her skills as a warrior.

centurion said...

Less than two months for the mini! Can't wait!

centurion said...

Does anyone know who voiced Betsy in MUA2 Wii? Thanks!

Anonymous said...

In marvel vs capcom 2 have Tron Bonne shoot Betsy with her Kobun gun so they come out and grab her, you get a beautiful stun butterfly animation.

centurion said...

Anonymous - That's true!

centurion said...

No new news today :(

FSaker said...

BTW, about Carey mentioning Psylocke among his ideal X-Team members, I wonder if he chose her because she's really one of his favorite characters or because he was afraid he could upset all the Psylocke fans who keep writing to him and asking him to put her in one of his stories. Because if it is the second option, I'd prefer him to take her out of the list; he doesn't need to have Betsy as one of his favorite x-men for me to recognize him as one of the greatest X-writers ever.

Now, if he REALLY sees Psylocke as someone who he WANTS to be in his ideal X-Team, that's absolutely great!

centurion said...

@FSaker - Hey. That's an important distinction. I hope it is the latter point, too.

Anonymous said...

Ugh no new news, when are some new comics coming out...grrr grumble.

centurion said...

Yes, no news at at all.. Still patiently awaiting something new.

"Now, if he REALLY sees Psylocke as someone who he WANTS to be in his ideal X-Team, that's absolutely great!"

Yes,he does,Carey originally intended to enlist Betsy in his Supernovas squad, but, sadly, she was Claremont's pet at that time,so he had to choose another psychic,Cable.

centurion said...

@Selene - Yes, I agree with you!
