Psylocke in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2!

Over at the HQ Forums, Silchrome who works at "Toys'R'Us" took pictures of the back cover of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 (Wii Version). We've been hearing these rumors for months, but now we can finally confirm that Psylocke, Cyclops and Blade are in MUA2 as exclusive characters for the Wii version, and possibly for the PS2 version too. It reads "Expand your roster with Cyclops, Psylocke and Blade" and Psylocke is seen wearing her iconic ninja suit. Hopefully, Betsy will be included in a DLC pack for PS3/360 later.

WOW!!! This is excellent news! Hopefully it will add a whole new generation of fans for psylocke!!! But I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope she'll be available for downloadable content for PS3! I wont be able to stand it if she isnt!!!

Yes, this is excellent news is right, Psychilde. I am so happy to hear this! Psylocke is coming back in a big way! I wonder who did her voiceovers for this game? Eventually, I would like to see Psylocke in the PS3 edition as a DLC.

It'll probably be the same woman who did he in x-men legends, was that the same person who did her in the 1st marvel ultimate alliance??? i loved the fact that she was included in that, someone in there must like her : D
I would pay good money to have her as DLC on the PS3!!!

Regarding the PS3 DLC, I would, too. There is always the possibility that the game may be released as a special edition for the PS3, including characters from the other editions e.g. Wii. The voice actress from XML 1 was Masasa Moyo, and she had a beautiful voice for Psylocke. I did some research regarding the voice actress for Psylocke in Marvel Ultimate Alliance and did not find anything conclusive. Yes, an apparently someone likes Psylocke to put her in this new game as well :)

@Captainfur: Yes, I agree, especially when the characters I want are on a system I don't own :)

@Daniel and others: If you have XML2 (X-Men Legends 2) PC (PC version only) there is a group of talented modders on the net who were able to get the XML1 version of Psylocke in X-Men Legends 2 PC. I have her on my roster with all of her voiceovers, taunts, etc. The website is www.marvelmods.com. The process of incorporating new characters into XML2PC does have a medium/high learning curve, but it is rewarding once one learns the process.

Any news on the PSP version of the game? I feel the same as just about everybody else... I want her as DLC for the PS3... if this doesn't happen, I may have to just shell out money for the Wii version once that goes on sale.

Over at cbr.cc Interview with Jason Aaron, writer of Wolverine, weapon-X:

"Seeing as "Wolverine: Weapon X" is going to have a lot of Weapon X stuff going on, like Maverick’s appearance. Could you tip us off on any possible character appearances? Even a hint?

No plans for any other Weapon X characters any time soon. Maverick will continue to be a big part of the series, though, as you'll see come the end of “Weapon X” #5. In terms of other guest stars, look for Nightcrawler and Psylocke in the near future, and a little further down the road some heavy hitters like Captain America and the Thing."

Also, regarding exclusive content in bideogames, I thinks is a marketing device as useless as developing games for one platform only, once video game developers realise that we aren't buying more systems because of this exclusives contents and they're only closing its demographic target they'll stop.

And by that I mean content that's not offered later at the online shops, of course.

Geez... I mispelled Videogame, sorry if anybody got hurt by that...

I'm just happy she's included in some form! Hopefully, it's not a rehash of the same old X-Men Legends model/powers, although the outfit is different. I felt her powers could have been done better in the first game. Is she holding a tk sword in that pic? I can't tell.

@Captainfur: That information about a Psylocke appearance in Weapon X is interesting. I agree with your first posting. And I also think it also may encourage people with multiple gaming consoles to buy two or three copies of the same game just to play as their favorite character(s).

DLC is spinning completely out of control so it is VERY likely Psylocke will make it onto other platforms. Great news when you think how few characters are represented. Is Emma even in this?

FSaker said...

YAY!! I'm so happy with this news that I won't even complain that the game producers chose the buttfloss suit over the New Exiles one...

The first Marvel Ultimate Alliance game was awesome, much better than the two X-Men Legends ones, and this sequel seems to be even better, so the fact that Betsy will be playable in it (and in the Wii version, that won't get the best graphics but will probably be one of the best-selling versions due to Wii's huge popularity) is simply astonishing!!

(plus, Jean siding with Captain America? If she has her Phoenix powers in this, the pro-SHRA side is so screwed... I'll probably have to make Psylocke choose the pro-SHRA side to make things a little more even for both sides)

Could not agree more...I hope she is a choice of dlc for ps3

I want to see what her other costumes are in MUA1 every character had 4 alternate costumes, they'll probably keep this up with this game : )
I bet they're ninja suit, x-treme, maybe exiles, maybe house of M
just guessing though : )

centurion said...

Yes. Since Psylocke is playable in the Wii Version, I would like for her to have a variety of different costumes, as Psychilde mentioned. But from what I have seen from the current mods of XML2PC, the marvelmods group has been best able to get many of Betsy's uniforms into a gaming format, including the Hand, X-Treme, and House of M variants, plus a few of the lesser known versions.

It really is a surprise that Psylocke was included in the Wii version of the game. It's interesting that Psylocke is in the game, but Rogue doesn't seem to be at all...

As many of us have already stated, I would like a DLC for the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions. I was truly convinced that Betsy wasn't going to make this game at all. It seems as though Marvel is making a determined effort to get Psylocke's name out into the world again! Whatever happens, this is further good news for Psylocke.

@Anonymous 9:45AM - Good question regarding Emma. Haven't seen anything to indicate she is in the game. I guess we will have to wait and see...

FSaker said...

@Psychilde - I read somewhere that MUA2 will have only one alternate costume per character. In that case, I think the most likely alternate outfit Psylocke may get is her New Exiles one.

If the producers decide to keep four costumes per character, I guess the other two costumes Psylocke would get are the Ultimate one and either the Outback armor or the Lady Mandarin armor...

centurion said...

@Fsaker: :( darnit :( I remember reading that as well...

Psychilde said...

Hmmm maybe its because they'res so many characters in this one : )

centurion said...

@Psychilde: Probably :)

FSaker said...

It's not only because of the number of characters, but also all kinds of information this game will store, like the better graphics (even the Wii ones seem better than the ones from the previous game), the fusion attacks, the answer options (the game producers said in every dialogue the player could decide to be offensive, defensive or diplomatic, with that interfering in the course of the game and evolution of the team), the multiple paths (with the Civil War part)... it would probably be hard to add more outfits as well.

Or... maybe the producers will later sell more alternate outfits as downloadable content. If even Capcom did it in Street Fighter IV, I don't see why Vicarius wouldn't do it in MUA2...

Francis said...

well i've got wii so for me that's the best thing i heard today :) anyway guys, marvel still hasn't announced the last common playable character... who do you think that could be? there're lots of important characters in CW like punisher, emma, namor or the vision. i really hope nova or rogue could make it in this game...on MUA2 official website if you click on Gambit's profile there's rogue photo on a corner... that actually makes me hope :) ... besides once wikipedia had ms marvel and rogue names as part of the Confirmed Playable Characters roster before carol was officially announced so they were removed but that was partially right! keep the fingers crossed XD

FSaker said...

Francis, from the bits of information I managed to read in forums, it seems Iceman will be the 24th common playable character, but if I'm not mistaken there will actually be 25 characters, with the last one being revealed just in the game's launching day.

Unfortunately, I don't think it will be Rogue. I'd bet on Black Widow, as she's relevant to both plots in which the game is based (she participated of both Secret War and Civil War sagas), and in terms of popularity Marvel may want to explore a central character of the next Iron Man movie (and the fact that she could have Scarlett Johansson's face is a nice bonus).

Buuut... the game producers already said there will be secret characters and downloadable characters, so Rogue could fit into one of these two groups. I'd definitely like to see her!

As for Centurion's surprise, I'm surprised Betsy was (apparently) chosen over Rogue, too. But it seems Marvel is really wanting to make her an A-list character again, with her appearing in several X-books, getting her own mini series, and now the game. As for Rogue, I hope she also appears, as I said above, but if she doesn't, it's okay: the girl has always had much more spotlight than Psylocke; if the producers had to choose just one of them, I'd say Betsy deserves it for a change.

Since we are all discussing gaming and Marvel, I wonder what Disney's acquisition of Marvel may mean for future Marvel based games?

@Fsaker and Francis: Hi. It may still be possible for Rogue to be a yet unannounced character for one of the other versions of the game e.g Xbox 360 or PS3. What about unlockable characters? Are they included in the 25 characters, or are they extra? I remember when the original MUA was released for the Xbox 360 there was a Gold edition that included characters not originally placed in the initial release. Wasn't that an Xbox Live download?
