Dark Avengers #8 Spoilers

Utopia • Chapter 5

Spoilers: In Vegas, Dani seeks Hela and hopes to make a deal with her. Back in San Francisco, the Dark X-Men deal with Simon Trask, destroying him and the last of his bio-sentinels. At the H.A.M.M.E.R. headquarters in Alcatraz, Cloak and Dagger begin to have second thoughts about their actions, and Osborn orders his Avengers to get back to NY. Under the sea, Psylocke and Madison Jeffries manage to intall some devices on a huge piece of rock. Back to Alcatraz, Dark Beast and Weapon Omega are about to use the Omega Machine, when they realize that all their prisoners are gone. Turns out Mindee had led the X-Foce there, while Magik brought them back in safety. A battle is ensued, and the Dark X-Men are called. At Graymalkin, Cyclops learns the X-Club's mission was a success and gives them the order to "rise". In Alcatraz, the Dark X-Men are about to attack X-Force, but Emma Frost and Namor both betray them siding with the heroes once again. After realizing what's going on, Cloak and Dagger join the real X-Men too, and soon all of them are teleported out. Meanwhile, a huge island rises up out of the sea, at the San Francisco bay. Cyclops gathers all mutants and tells them that Emma and Namor are on their side and will explain it later. Scott gives a press conference and states that people wanted them out of the US, so they've left, after rejecting Osborn's programs against mutants and Trask's hate crimes. Osborn learns of his failure and orders his Avengers to bring Namor's head and Emma's heart.

"X-Men: Gals On The Run" by Claremont & Manara

"X-Men - Gals On The Run" by Chris Claremont and Milo Manara will be released at Lucca Comic-Con 2009. Panini will publish a volume of 64 pages with a 48-page story in black and white. The graphic novel will be released in Italy on November 5, and previewed a couple of days earlier at Lucca. According to Claremont, it will go on sale in the United States in 2010.

"Panini Comics is proud to present a unique event in comics. An unprecedented book that unites a legend of American comics and an European master. Chris Claremont, author of the myth of the X-Men as we know them today and Milo Manara, the famous Italian artist of Il Gioco, Il Profumo dell’Invisibile, El Gaucho and much more give life to "X-Men - Gals On The Run", a fantastic graphic novel starring the women of the X-Men. 48 pages of adventure among Madripoor and the Greek islands, where Storm, Rogue, Psylocke, Kitty Pryde, Marvel Girl and Emma Frost face a mysterious enemy. An exclusive volume, drawn with the magical pencils of the erotic art Master."

Chris Claremont: "I have the very great privilege of working with the amazing Italian artist, Milo Manara, on a very special X-Men project, featuring Storm, Kitty, Sage, Rogue, Psylocke, Rachel, & Emma Frost. Yes, all women! The title is still being worked out, but the in-house title is X-Babes. For those of you who know Manara's work – and if you're an adult you should check him out – this is everything you would imagine. This is the first time this preeminent European artist has ever done superheroes, and he's having so much fun! First publication is in Italy, in time for Lucca. Look to the publisher's web site: Panini, as well as a cover story in the Italian magazine La Rebulica this September, for a first look. Marvel will publish in the US next year."

X-Men: Legacy #227 Spoilers

Utopia • Tie-In

Spoilers: Rogue, Gambit and Danger try to find Trance. Meanwhile, she had lost control over her powers and basically destroys everything around her. The authorities are called, and Moonstone tells them off and says she'll handle it instead in order to get revenge on Rogue. After Rogue finds Trance, she tries to calm her down, getting her to focus on her powers again. Karla arrives and shoots Danger through the chest. Gambit tries to attack Moonstone, but she goes intangible and then punches him. Rogue punches Karla through a tank, depleting the last of the powers she got from Ares. Moonstone, however, recovers and beats the hell out of Rogue. When Trance finally regains control of her powers, she is apparently able to hit Karla, who turns off her intangibility. As soon as she does that, Gambit powers some cards and tosses them at Karla, which staggers her a little. Pixie arrives and bring them to their HQ, where they give Trance medical attention. Scott then drops some hints on what's to come in the future.

Evolution Revolution: Matt Fraction

In today’s installment of Evolution Revolution, “Utopia” writer Matt Fraction gets CBR ready for the story’s final act by offering insight and commentary on all the action and intrigue of “Uncanny” #514.

CBR: Cyclops briefs four different characters on the current situation and the parts they’re to play in what comes next. Why did you choose these four particular characters?
Matt Fraction: This was really a payoff of a year of rebuilding the X-Women. These four women are all key components to Scott’s master plan, and it was a nice change to put these four together instead of Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Beast. So it was a chance to do something different and not quite as status quo.

CBR: You end things with Psylocke and the X-Men Science Club on an undersea mission for Cyclops.
Matt Fraction: Yes, please notice the nice X-shaped windshield. Terry Dodson, ladies and gentlemen. That wasn’t in the script. It’s just pure Terry.

CBR: How important is the Science Team’s mission?
Matt Fraction: The science team’s mission is everything.

CBR: Are there any clues in this scene as to what the Science Club’s sub is moving over? It looks like some type of mysterious technology?
Matt Fraction: You could probably extrapolate some guesses. There is something in the bay that Scott has tasked this team to bring to the surface. When we reveal what the thing at the bottom of the water is then the stakes become really clear.

Fraction looks ahead to “Dark Avengers #8” / “Utopia” Part Five

We reveal who Dani is meeting with. We get another and much more gruesome look at the Omega Machine. The Science Club’s plan is revealed. Dark Beast gets the surprise of his life. The Dark Avengers find themselves once again in position to be daddy’s favorites. Wolverine’s squad makes their move and a couple of characters are going to make pretty big choices. There’s lots of ins, outs and what-have-yous, and by the end Scott Summers gives the press conference to end all press conferences.

Uncanny X-Men #514 Spoilers

Utopia • Chapter 4

Spoilers: As Simon Trask activates his new breed of human sentinels to exterminate the mutant species, Cyclops puts his plan into action, which includes specif missions for Moonstar, Domino, Mindee and Psylocke. At the H.A.M.M.E.R. headquarters in Alcatraz, Emma Frost breaks the feud between Daken and Bullseye and orders her Dark X-Men to go to San Francisco, as the city is under attack. They learn Trask's people have mutated into some kind of biomechanical abomination and are no longer human. At the Greymalkin Industries, Cyclops takes the rest of the X-Men (Northstar, Dazzler, Iceman, Colossus, Karma, etc.) to where the attacks are happening as he can't trust Emma's team yet. While the Dark X-Men begin to destroy all of Trask's sentinels, Dani arrives in Vegas and hopes to make a deal with a shadowy figure. Cyclops tells his X-Men to observe the Dark X-Men and study their moves. After Emma and her team deals with Trask's sentinels, Cloak telports all of them to the hospital where Simon is located. Cyclops notices that the Dark X-Men fight alone, but they, the real X-Men, fight as a team and that's how they're going to beat them. Scott tells them that there's another squad whose mission is to deal with the Dark Avengers. At the Bay of Oakland, Domino, Warpath, X-23, Magik and a newcomer Wolverine plan to get the prisoners back. Just off the Pacific Ocean, Dr. Nemesis, Dr. Rao, Madison Jeffries and Psylocke are aboard of a sub. Jeffries' task is to install something under the sea. Psylocke states this is the end of the X-Men in California, so they don't have a choice.

Chicago Comic-Con 2009: X-Men Panel

Yost commented on the current state of Psylocke's abilities.....

Regarding confusion about Psylocke's current powers, Yost said his "Psylocke" mini in November would clear this up. "You'll get a very concrete answer as to what she can and cannot do," Yost said. As to whether she'd appear in "X-Force," "you're definitely going to want to read the Psylocke miniseries to see what direction she'll be going in."

Let's hope that this means she can appear in both Uncanny and X-Force by the end of this! No preview art was released unfortunately.

Yost also commented on Psylocke's previous role with the Exiles..

Psylocke's role with the dimension-hopping New Exiles will not be addressed in Yost's miniseries, he said, "but I wouldn't be surprised to see it revisted someday."

X-Position: Chris Yost & Craig Kyle

X-Force writers, Chris Yost and Craig Kyle, join CBR to answer your questions in today’s X-Position. Fortunately, there was yet another question regarding Psylocke, mine again! LOL.

Psylocke always relies on her psi-knife instead of using other aspects of her psi-powers. Now that she's a telepath again as well as a telekinetic (not to mention her ninja skills), can we expect her to use her abilities in more creative ways?

Chris Yost: In the upcoming “Psylocke” miniseries, she’s going to be using her telepathy, her telekinesis, and two katana swords to get the job done. So you’re definitely going to see a wide range of abilities and use of those abilities coming up.

Evolution Revolution: Matt Fraction

In today’s installment of Evolution Revolution, CBR gets the answers to those questions and more, straight from “Utopia” writer Matt Fraction. Here's an interesting excerpt:

Fraction looks ahead to “Uncanny X-Men #514” / “Utopia” Part Four

Hang on because here we go! Trask goes mission critical. Surprises and twists happen as Cyclops is put to the test. There are three or four very important characters in the issue—they’re the last three people you would ever think of. Here’s a hint. They’re all girls.

Uncanny X-Men #514
Moonstar, Domino, Mindee Cuckoo and Psylocke. Could it be them?
