X-Force #2 Spoilers

Spoilers: X-Force heads to Wakanda, where the second fracture is expected to occur, according to the analog. Betsy and Rachel welcome Surge, who decides to join the team, while Sage warns Forge that invading Wakanda might not be the best move. Suddenly, the X-Jet is attacked and blows up, sending the team plummeting in freefall, only to be engulfed by a strange mist that starts affecting them. Upon landing, the analog realizes that the X-Force has already entered the fracture. Betsy senses powerful ancient magic at play, and her own Otherworld magic struggles to resist it. A physical and mental shift transforms Betsy, Rachel, Surge, and Tank into medieval versions of themselves, all under a spell, while only Forge and Sage remain unaffected.

A Wakandan archivist named Sele, also transformed, appears and commands the brainwashed X-Force to capture Forge and Sage, who manage to escape. Forge heads back to the X-Jet, while Sage is captured by Wakandan warriors. She’s brought before the Black Panther, who is actually the spellmaster Nketi; he’s been using the Anansi drum to spread his magic and reshape the world to his will. Sage realizes she’s immune to the spell because of her mutation tied to the laws of physics and her goggles, which process magic as data. Sage escapes, but Nketi orders the X-Force to hunt her down. Sage manages to put the goggles on Surge, breaking the spell on her, and asks her to deliver the goggles to Forge. Meanwhile, Forge realizes the analog protected him from the reality-warping magic and confronts Nketi. Forge uses the drum to undo the spell, restoring reality and sealing the fracture in Wakanda. The archivist Sele arrests Nketi for tampering with Wakanda’s archives and stealing the drum. She thanks X-Force for their assistance but demands they leave Wakanda immediately. Forge reveals that the X-Jet has self-repaired and is ready for their next mission in Cambodia, where Nuklo is wreaking havoc.

I hope I like this issue.

If it's written properly, I wouldn't mind it. Otherworld has been part of Betsy since the beggining

It's not Otherworld per se. I never loved it, but was ok with doses like in Remender's X-Force.

Its just that Tini was so obsessed with Otherworld and magic & isolating Betsy by finding a reason for Betsy to always be there, that I feel oversaturated lol.

I'm sure it'll be ok, I'm mostly joking. It doesn't seem like they actually go to Otherworld lol.

For me, I enjoy the Otherworld of it all. It’s uniquely a Betsy trait that marvel can not graft onto Kwannon. With the Hickman expansion of Otherworld there is limitless story potential. I see that as a net positive for her and future story telling.

Howard basically ruined Otherworld for me lol. It was too much and always had some reason to have Betsy there and so isolated from the others and not participating in Krakoa much.

You have great points @Betsy B, but while I know Otherworld is in Betsy's heritage, I don't see her as being a character that delves a lot into magic.

I prefer her more grounded in the regular world as the spy or previously the ninja.

Otherworld is probably one thing I wouldn't care too much if they gave to Kwannon lol.

I do get your points though.

I really enjoyed this issue. I liked #1 but this one was more fun IMO. Sage was so entertaining she really showed out. I love how this writer really understands her powers.

We also got one semi butterfly from Betsy in a panel where she and Rachel are chasing Sage.

Thank you @Randybear. I'm more excited to read it now lol.

Weird observation.

I haven't gotten this issue yet, hopefully tmrw (so don't know what actual cover looks like color wise), but I happened to be using my desktop yesterday and went on this site (usually its on my phone)

and I noticed that on my desktop that Betsy's hair looked more purple on the covers than it did on my phone.

I even did a comparison side by side lol.

I don't know if that is the same for anyone else, but just thought that was interesting.

Her psychic sword looked more purple as well.

Just was an interesting observation.

Legit. Some phones got eye comfort modes to block blue light. This pushes the screen to more red and orange tones turning purple to magenta and pink.

I'm laughing my @ss off Marvel got artists on variants and anywhere paste as many butterflies they can on Revanche. While Betsy struggles to get a half decent one in the panels. They love us so much.

Ok thanks @Kiki.

It could have definitely still been more purple, but it was in fact purple and not pinkish when I looked on the desktop lol.

X-Man said...

True @Kiki but I also will say on some of those covers she... i guess... is displaying her current psychic sword and its one of the ugliest depictions of the sword I have seen (imho).

I'm happy they didn't give that to Betsy.

Yeah I definitely just picked it up and it is definitely much more purple than shown on my phone.

I'll have to remember that lol.

Same XMan. The cover in person her hair is a much more saturated purple ☺️

@Randybear definitely was lol. Now I gotta look at desktop before I automatically think her hair is pink on a cover lol.
