Really, the more I look at this art, the more I LOVE it and the more I LOVE this costume! I can't wait to see her wearing it in the story pages.
The one thing I miss in it is an X-badge (the brooch holding her cape/cloak could be one). Then again, with Betsy stuck in Otherworld for who knows how many issues (hopefully not for the entire KoX run), showing that she's part of the X-Men wouldn't mean much, anyway...
And looking again at the official cover, I just noticed that the other X-Men in KoX don't seem to have an "X" badge on their outfits, either. Hopefully all of them (including Betsy) will have the badges in the actual comic.
Reason she isn't using X symbol is because it is a known "Witch Breed" symbol - witch breeds are being hunted - this costume lets her fit in with the other Otherworld citizens
The new uni makes the difference. I don't like she is called Captain Britain the sound of it hasn't place with the X-Men. Betsy isn't the Captain type she has to find another name to fit the X-Men nature.
I actually like the idea of Betsy being Captain Britain... but she needs to be well written, which didn't happen in most of the Excalibur run. If she's still written the same way in Knights of X, then I agree that Marvel should just give her the Psylocke name again (and take her away from Howard - but I'm willing to give her a second chance for now).
I recently read the end of the X of Swords crossover, and while it was terrible, I kinda liked the idea of the Captain Britain corps being modeled after Betsy - the problem was that their appearance felt hollow when the actual Betsy wasn't there to lead the new corps in the battle (had she been there, it would be an awesome moment). While the KoX solicits indicate that the corps lost their battle against Merlyn's forces, I hope there can be a moment where Betsy will appear leading her alternate counterparts that are still alive and hiding in Otherworld. And that she also gets to do this in a future X-event in Krakoa (or anywhere else on Earth).
@FSaker a story about the return of Slaymaster by Merlyn with a magic power up turns the tide to create a sequel to the Betsy-Slaymaster feud. We know little to nothing about his identity and Jim Jasper's Crazy Gang could be a great team up. Tini Howard excels at writing crazy individuals like Monarch and Saturnyne and has rejuvenated many obscure and dated Excalibur characters therefore Slaymaster becomes her Zamiel huntsman to challenge the Betsy corps.
Do we know if this stylish new outfit is tied to the amulet or sword? If not, might we be lucky enough to see Elizabeth relying on her own vast powerset versus that provided by the Captain Britain suit?
@Rahsaan it is wiser for Betsy to lose the Phylla-Vell sword and rely on her mutant powers. The main focus of the book is mutant extermination in the Otherworld so let us stay in the mutant part as the magic frustrates the readers and sales take a plunge.
I hope the medallion Betsy has pinned on her vest is the Amulet of Right and its powers come second to promote Betsy's telepathy, telekinetic weapons, psychic blasts and butterfly vision-communication-scanning.
Either way the Captain Britain flight is redundant because Betsy has used her T.K. butterfly wings to fly many times in the Uncanny X-Men.
I'm also in favor of your suggestions @Rahsaan & @Jamie.
This is supposed to be about her rescuing mutants or whatnot, then I want to see her using her mutant abilities. Brian needed those extra abilities, I think its uneeded for Betsy.
"She doesn't have the Amulet of Right anymore. She destroyed it during XoS. The Sword of Might and the Starlight Sword are the Captain items now."
Which I think was a terrible decision from the creative team. The choice between the Amulet of Right and the Sword of Might was a big thing in the Captain Britain lore; now we have a sword and... another sword. And it's not even as if the swords had different principles, like the Soul Edge and the Soul Calibur in the SC video games.
I hope that the Amulet of Right will eventually be restored, either in Howard's stories or in the stories written by whoever takes the CB stories after her. And, assuming Betsy is really meant to be Captain Britain for good, she should eventually be given the choice of which artifact she wants, just like every other Captain Britain did before her.
“For so long, my life has been out of control. Chaos and serendipity, wrapped in insanity. I have suffered, I have lost. Not just my life, but my very soul, my self. But no more. Now I know who I am.” – Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Braddock, daughter of Otherworld, mutant, telepath, telekinetic, defender of the realm and, above all, X-Man.

Anyway, kudos to Meghan Hetrick's AMAZING art!
I'll have to see how it looks in the actual comic. I like it better than her CB one so far, but not sure I'm completely sold on it.
I definitely want something up there showing she's part of the X-men (or an X team) though lol.
Me too.

Good point; I forgot about that. Okay, so there is a good reason for them to avoid the X symbol.
It's still a pity, though.
Maybe, but homegirl is on a flying horse, with a psychic glowing sword and also apparently has a dragon still.
I think the X is probably the least of what will make her or the others stand out lol.
Cover could just be creative license - she might not even have the pegasus in the book haha
everyone on the team has a new medieval outfit to wear to fit in
Agreed. People still read way too much into covers, especially variants for some reason which I imagine allow more creative freedom.
