I honestly don't want Betsy to kill Isca. As it is people hate on Betsy so hard due to the Kwannon rhetoric that shes an evil white woman. If Betsy kills Isca (who is of African descent if im not mistaken) they will fucking lose their minds and i dont want people feeling more validated in disliking her.

Anyway, considering how Betsy is being pushed at the forefront of the event (plus she's the alleged protagonist of the book written by one of the two masterminds of this story), I think she actually has good chances of winning.

That said, your idea isn't bad. And I doubt she'd be dead for long, anyway.

FSaker said...: Anyway, one thing I was just thinking now is, while the tournament doesn't begin, do you guys think the search for the swords in each book will focus on that book's team (that is, the New Mutants in their book, the X-Force in theirs, and so on)? While that would mean we'd have to wait a long time until Betsy gets the spotlight, it would also mean that most X-Men would manage to do their thing in this event (and not just the ten Swordbearers). Which is something I don't remember happening in a long time...

X-Man said...: If people are hating on Betsy due to something Kwannon's own friends did to revive Kwannon from a brain dead status, then I can only assume they were never fans of Betsy to begin with, regardless of what body she was in. I myself wasn't a fan of a white woman controlling a minority's body, but never because of Betsy, because of the writers. It reminded me to much of the theme of the movie "Get Out". I hate victim blaming just as much, if not, more. Betsy was violated without any say for Kwannon's benefit. She was a victim in the Kwannon saga (as was Kwannon, but Kwannon seemingly doesn't seem to possess any guilt over their shared situation at all, yet it seems Betsy is expected to feel this smh) basically, I don't mind Betsy winning the fight at all lol.; October 5, 2020 at 8:24 PM

I reminded them that Betsy didn't steal anything and also Kwannon killed people while also in Betsys body and was already a killer and recognized known criminal in Japan.

But these fans always leave out context and it pisses me off how all these people are under the delusional that Betsy is this awful character. That being said, Isca is supossed to be cursed with winning ... maybe her victory causes her death and that makes Betsy the actual winner. Or you know, this is just promo material to mislead readers.

I suppose Betsy won't appear in any of them (or will get a small cameo at best), but I'm curious to find out if they will be focused on the teams of each book (that is, the X-Force team on the X-Force book, the Marauders team on the Marauders book, and so on). And yeah seems like each book won't be a full crossover yet maybe when the tournament begins but so far Wolverine/Xforce focused on Wolverine and the origin of his newest enemy and Marauders just featured a boring issue of Storm talking to Black Panther people. Apparently people are upset at this issue with how BP and Shuri treated Storm lol

This is why I dont want Betsy in a high profile relationship. Everyone wants her to be coupled up SO bad. Why?? Its boring!

As for the first issues not being a full crossover yet, maybe that's a good thing if it allows good panel time for the characters of each book before it gets too focused on the ten Swordbearers. Then again, did the X-Force issue use the other members (Sage, Domino, Beast, etc.)? And did the other Marauders (Kitty, Bishop, Iceman, etc.) join Storm in her trip to Wakanda (or were at least shown doing their thing in another part of the world while she was dealing with her ex's family)?

Speaking of X-Force, I read that even with the friendly Krakoan era, Beast is still being a major jerk (I mean, it seems even Scott and Logan became nice people again) and most fans rejoiced when Wolverine punched him after he submitted Colossus to a public humiliation... if any X-Man has to die in this event and remain dead for months or years, please let it be him.; October 7, 2020 at 10:48 AM

My thing is, we've seen so far the bearers approach the circle and present their sword. If Brian approaches with the sword of might, Betsy should have to approach the circle with the starlight sword.

FSaker said...: In any situation, we still don't know whatever will happen to any of these characters. We are all assuming Betsy will die and be reborn as a different individual with no memories of her previous life, but she may actually survive. Same goes to Brian. While the post-XoS Excalibur cover seems to indicate one of them may suffer the same fate as Rockslide, who knows, maybe it's just that after the event Brian will become Captain Britain again and Betsy will get her Psylocke identity back (yeah, Kwannon is using this identity, but there is no rule forbidding both from having it at the same time - not when Marvel has two Hawkeyes, two Wolverines and other superheroes sharing codenames).

I used to worry all the time that Betsy could be killed off or sent to editorial limbo at any time, but now I'm strangely optimistic that no matter what happens, she'll be okay.; October 8, 2020 at 6:01 PM

Marvel just can't leave Betsy alone shes had 2 major status quso changes since late 2018. That's insane even for a comic book character.

They need to leave her alone let her grow as CB and stop giving her radical changes. Stop taking stuff away from her and build from what we currently have.

And honeslty she won't ever go back as Psylocke that ship has sailed. Peoplr would riot if Kwannon was killed or no longer Psylocke i see way to much on twitter and tumblr of people saying Kwannon deserves to be Psylocke and that she is the real Psylocke etc etc

The sympathy card they wrote up for Kwannon in Fallen Angels was effective and has turned a large amount of readers against Betsy.

You shluld see the amount of people cheering that Isca will more than likely kill Betsy. Its pathetic IMO.

As much as I prefer Betsy over Kwannon you never see a post by me declaring she die or be killed. If anything I welcome her but I just think she would be interesting as her own identity but she's 100% 90s Betsy.; October 8, 2020 at 7:20 PM

But would it really be a problem to have Betsy use the Psylocke name at the same time as Kwannon? They're not even in the same book, so it's not like fans of 1990s Psylocke would be prevented from having Kwannon filling that role in Hellions, while Betsy would be more like 1980s Psylocke (but more modern) in Excalibur.

I get that Kwannon's fans don't want her to lose the Psylocke identity, but it's Betsy's identity, too. And it's not as if she's one of those characters who often change codenames; she's always been Psylocke, with a very brief time as Captain Britain and her first issues as a STRIKE agent using only her real name. And her real name isn't as recognizable as Jean's, Emma's or Kitty's, so unless Marvel decides to keep her as Captain Britain, Betsy will need the Psylocke codename.
