Rahsaan said...: Y'all know I love my girl, but I miss the days of old, when artists like Davis and Silvestri (her best two whether she looks like herself or Kwannon) put effort into her power signature. These current artists don't put any effort into detailing her butterfly signature and butterfly projection. I'd take that over the sword and shield. Since she became that sexualized ninja the writters made her a sexy bombshell and physical acrobate, not a psychic... That shit really bothered me. The butterfly was her brand, back when she was the main telepath of the group. (In my mind, it is very clear that they never had idea what to do with her and Jean as both caucasian psychics).
So, Jean won and had maintained her status of full tp/tk... Our Betsy lose, and "gained" ninja skills that almost never was functional, since she lost the majority of fights hand to hand she had.; December 10, 2018 at 9:09 PM

Rahsaan said...: @CmX, yes. That is the bee in my bonnet with her power signature.Granted, Psylocke in both bodies didn;t always display her butterfly. Some of the most powerful imagery of her is sans butterfly (like in the link below where she is wearing Cerebro and blasts Sabes), but when they sort of draw it half-ass, like above, it looks wack.

I'm just glad its back since it disappeared after SK in 1998 and we didnt see it until 2009 in the Uncanny Dark Rein annual drawn by Davis himself!

randybear said...: Xman, yes! She did not manifest butterfly as a sole TK but Carey wrote a story during Reload where Psylocke mentioned she could still create the butterfly if she wanted.

And now the butterfly is associated with both TP and TK as seen in Uncanny #1 she mentions her TK weaponry and manifests the butterfly along with her weapons. I personally only like the butterfly associated with her TP but oh well; December 11, 2018 at 8:49 PM
