OMG... Psylocke it is one of the most powerful psychics (in words of Nemesis, Madelyne and Xavier himself), has a break-mountain telekinesis and can fight Farouk face to face, but can't even FLY by herself or read any crazy mind... It means, her powers are unuseful?!?! Garbage... Seriously, I am so tired, cuz if was Emma or Jean the storyline would be incredibly different...

I never really liked Psylocke as a telekinetic. I feel like with the TK + TP, a lot of people who don't really know her might think of her as just a palette-swap british / asian Jean Grey.

What set her apart for me was when they combined her TP with physical prowess. And when written well (see: Uncanny X-Force v1), she can be shown as very capable, and very deadly, despite not having physical raw power.

Although I myself am married to the asian incarnation of Psylocke (I myself am east asian, and I did not feel offended at her supposed yellowface), I like that they retained her fighting skills.

I wish they'd stop with the gimicky-ness of her weapon set, tho. The TK sword and shield are kind of silly to look at and she's basically Pink Latern now with her TK powerset.

Really, it's not a big deal. Betsy was trying to read Madrox's mind(s) while Cannonball was carrying her; it's probably hard to use telepathy (in several different individuals) and telekinesis AT THE SAME TIME. And Madrox's mind is not only split among several bodies (and that's assuming they're even dupes from the real Madrox, who's supposed to be DEAD), but there is external interference in it.

Nevertheless, she was still able to fight the dupes just as well as the other X-Men, who also had difficulties to deal with the dupes presenting superpowers they're NOT supposed to have. I would hardly call that as being useless. I mean, Storm is one of the most powerful mutants in the planet, and she was also overwhelmed by the dupes.

You wanna see an useless telepath? Watch Jean Grey in TAS. That's useless.

Pretty sure she hasn't had "break mountain " TK for a while. Since her telepathy returned, it seems to me her to downgraded. She hasn't flown in a very long time and in Uncanny X-Force she never even used TK. I myself would prefer her as a pure telepath/precog, but if they must keep the TK (I just wish it was established to be hers and not Jean's as some people still believe), I dont mind it being limited to a sword and shield construct.

Lol @FSaker. That's funny and very true. She wasn't a great telekinetic either haha. I love how she didn't figure out it was Morph posing as a priest when she "married" Cyclops. I didn't love Psylocke in Wolverine and X-Men series either. Emma totally dominated her, but even she was better than TAS Jean.

@Toffnut Amen!

HEY! Leave TAS Jean alone. Lol. She was awesome. Even that time she tripped and fell over nothing.

FSaker said...

@Tazirai - Which of the several times she did that?

Two off the bat is versus Apocalypse and another in the tv room, OH and that time in the Danger Room.

Jean from the cartoon reminds me of “Dangerous Prone Daphne” Blake in Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? until Daphne was morphed into an independent, self-reliant leader in later versions of the show.
