Battle of The Atom – Chapter 5 Spoilers

Chapter 5 – Wolverine & The X-Men #36: Xorna engages Emma, the Cuckoos and Teen Jean in a psychic battle. Wolverine's X-Men arrive at Utopia. Logan and Cyclops argue. Teen Scott attacks Wolverine. Xorna manages to subdue one of the Cuckoos. Emma's no match for her. Xorna defeats the remaining Cuckoos and Emma. Tension between the groups erupts. Cyclops and Teen Scott fight the future X-Men, while only Teen Jean is left to battle Xorna. Meanwhile, Magik teleports to the Jean Grey School and tell Teen Beast and Teen Iceman that these Future X-Men are hiding something. Magik teleports them to the future. Back to Utopia, Teen Jean gets the upper hand and demands to know what horrible thing happens in the future if they don't go back to the past. Xorna shows her and Teen Jean is horrified by what she discovers. Jean tells Scott that they have to go back to the past now. Magik, Iceman and Beast arrive in the future, only to find out that the future isn't nearly as horrible as the future X-Men make it sound. At the Jean Grey School, they are welcomed by Sentinels and another set of future X-Men.

Interesting twist. I guess it's not a big surprise that the future X-Men were hiding something, but what are their intentions? And are they evil at all? I mean, the cover for the last issue of Battle of the Atom shows Xorn fighting alongside the present X-Men.

Anyway, did Psylocke get to do anything in this issue? I know she appeared in it (she was in one of the preview pages), but from these spoilers it seems that most of the present X-Men didn't do much in it. Since Betsy is a telepath, she could have participated of the psychic battle somehow...

She had cameos in like three panels or so. Future Xavier was blocking Rachel from the psychic battle, I guess the sames went for Psylocke.

There's a character of the future X-Men that show at the last page that looks like Betsy, but instead of psychic blades, she has psychic claws (Wolverine-like claws).

I guess that character is Jubilee, not Psylocke. Her skin is too pale, her uniform looks like Jubilee's (sans trenchcoat), she has pink glasses, and the Wolverine-like claws could be an homage to Logan as he was a father figure to her (and the claws may be generated by a device, not by mutant powers).

Plus, she looks like a young woman, and Psylocke would most likely be older than Kate Pryde and Xorn Jean.

I'm not surprised psylocke is getting nothing to do. Par for the course. The same characters as usual are getting the spotlight.

Not related to the BOTA crossover, but last week, a new demo of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes was shown in a videogame event. Although Psylocke wasn't shown in action, her portrait was present in the character selection screen, next to Professor X: http://media.emmafrostfiles.com/images/emma-frost-lego-marvel-super-heroes.jpg

It seems, however, that she won't be playable in Story Mode, just in the Free-to-play Mode. That's okay, as apparently only 20 of the 150+ characters in the game will be playable in Story Mode: the movie Avengers (Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Hulk), the Fantastic Four (Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and Thing), Spider-Man, Storm, Wolverine, the X-Men O5 sans Warren (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman and Beast - Archangel is in the game, but it seems he'll be playable only in Free-to-play mode) and the S.H.I.E.L.D. commanders (Nick Fury, Maria Hill and Agent Coulson).

Nevertheless, I hope she still appears in Story Mode somehow (maybe she could be in charge of telepathic communication with the heroes during some missions, or at least appearing in some cutscenes?). But even if she doesn't, at least she's in the game. And it looks AWESOME; check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCNW2-N0uFA
