Recap 2012 — War on Every Front
2012 gave Betsy Braddock almost no time to breathe. Following Warren’s death, she was pulled into a war in Otherworld alongside Captain Britain before Uncanny X-Force faced a new Brotherhood in a conflict that ultimately brought the team’s original mission to an end. At the same time, Psylocke joined Cyclops’ Extinction Team as Emma Frost’s replacement and helped investigate the mysteries of Tabula Rasa.

“For so long, my life has been out of control. Chaos and serendipity, wrapped in insanity. I have suffered, I have lost. Not just my life, but my very soul, my self. But no more. Now I know who I am.” – Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Braddock, daughter of Otherworld, mutant, telepath, telekinetic, defender of the realm and, above all, X-Man.

She really had a busy year in 2012, didn't she? Probably her best year ever (or at least her best year in a loooooooong time...)!
Too bad that in 2013, it looks like Psylocke will be confined to Uncanny X-Force (fortunately, it looks like this book will keep being great!)... On the other hand, Sam Humphries and Dennis Hopeless have hinted that a UXF/C&XF crossover may happen, and maybe she gets a cameo in a panel or two in the Age of Ultron event.
Yeah, we were so spoiled for a while, having UXF, X-Men and Uncanny X-Men double shipping for a while with Betsy in all three titles, now all we have is UXF.
As for 2012, I feel like while she had many appearances, she didn't have a really good character arc. She was mostly a supporting act. The interactions with the Extinction team (especially Magneto) and Wood's team were my favorite though.
More important than having showed in many issues, she was pretty relevant in most of them, which I surely prefer than mere cameos or when she does not even have a single line...
Her title probably will project in other titles too. We don't know yet if it is completely secret, but probably there will be a repercussion among the own X-Men to her expulsion from the school, mostly if Storm chooses openly to join her.
The X-Men are becoming progressively more divided. This will surely bring about other issues later.
I am wondering how could Wolverine, the most serial killer hero, judge her enough to take her out of the school...She had always been by her side, including in the blood-thirsty X-Force of his.
Each year get's better and better for Besty.....keep it coming!
Agree with Chris. Hopefully 2013 will be a banner year for her, starting with that new suit of hers.
One question, though: did Psylocke REALLY appear in Avengers vs. X-Men #10?? I mean, I remember seeing her face in the recap page (the one showing which characters will appear in the issue), but no actual appearance of hers in the issue itself. I don't remember that picture of Betsy next to Gambit and Magneto being present in AvX #10 (Gambit isn't even listed in the recap page for this issue)... and she only joined the battle against the Phoenix Five in AvX #11.
On the other hand, although Psylocke is not listed in AvX #12, her face appears in one of Captain America's files, where he was studying which X-Men he could recruit for a new team of Avengers (other X-Men also appeared in these files, such as Gambit, Iceman, Rogue, Storm, Kitty Pryde and Havok).
She appeared in AvX10 not in the main story, but in that Infity comic story stuff.
As for AVX12, it was just the screen. It doesn't really count for an actual appearance I guess.
Infinity*
Oh, right, I forgot about the AvX:Infinite digital tie-ins... thanks, Chris!
It's been an awfully long year, and wow at how many substantial story-lines/events she's been through, well on the way to graceful recognition. Big thanks to Remender's Uncanny X-Force.
I hope David Lopez gets the opportunity to illustrate her again down the line, the scenes in which she first encountered the proto-mutant one on one from X-Men #31, and then that double-splash page from X-Men #33 were beautiful.
Favorite quote had to have been this - "Sad. Mad. Awed, scared, torn, important, insignificant...it's all valid, Pixie. Feel what you want to feel, we're all in the same boat here. But i'll say this...I'll never feel the way i used to, not ever again. Being a Mutant...it means something different now."
