Marvel 70th Anniversary Frame by Jim Cheung

Marvel.com: 2009 marks Marvel's 70th Anniversary, and to celebrate this August, all ongoing Marvel Comics series will have a 70th Anniversary Variant. Featuring a frame by superstar artist Jim Cheung, these 70th Anniversary Frame Variants will also feature an iconic shot of a Marvel character from that title by another of Marvel's talented superstar artists.

Guess who's part of the anniversary frame by Jim Cheung? Psylocke! I think it's great that she was chosen to be on the frame along with Marvel's most popular and iconic characters. This frame will be featured in 38 variant covers this August.

It's also pretty cool that X-23 is pretty much directly across from her in a mirrored pose.

I really, really like this.
I't s almost a pity Marvel's using Jimmy Cheung almost only for covers and stuff like this. After reading this year's Avengers Free Comic Book Day I crave for more interiors from him.

Wish he could rotate with Dodson on Uncanny instead of Land.

Betsy AND Molly Hayes in the same anniversary frame?? WOW! I couldn't ask for anything else!!

...well, they could replace Pixie with Surge. But overall, it's a cool frame, and I love Cheung's art!

i don't like her face or black hair. i might photoshop it for fun to have purple hair and a pink outfit to pretend it's british betsy :)

I love that they've revamped this cover concept! Some great work by Cheung.

I think a lot of people on this forum have made it pretty clear they want to see a British Betsy. It seems like not one post goes by without someone talking about how British Betsy is so much better, even though it's the same character.

I like that Betsy has a Japanese body. I think the MU should be a multi-cultural place with characters with many different ethnicities, backgrounds and worldviews.

Take a look at this cover: excluding Red Hulk and the new Black Panther (whose true identities have not been revealed), there are 31 characters. Only five of these characters' aren't white, and only seven aren't American. Don't you think we could be seeing a little more representation here?

So personally I think it's cool that a British woman in a Japanese body makes this cover. I hope it means I'm going to be reading about a lot of different people, not just white people. Why is it so important to you guys that she look British, when that makes her look more like everyone else?

Well, I don't think the problem people have with Asian Betsy is her ethnic origin, but the fact that it is NOT her true origin. Marvel has great Asian characters; look at Surge, Solaris, Armor (okay, maybe not Armor). However, Betsy isn't really Asian, nor does she have Asian origins.

I'm not against her Asian body, I like both of them; I just wonder how weird it must be to be inside a body that's not yours.

But hey, I'll support Betsy no matter in which body she's in. I just hope the body she ends up with (British or Asian) is the body that SHE chooses, not the body someone else forces her soul to be in.
