Claremont Talks "X-Men Forever"

Writer Chris Claremont is giving some hints concerning the future of the upcoming X-Men Forever over at ComiX-Fan. He pretty much confirms Psylocke's appearance in future issues. Take a look:

Chris Claremont: Well -- we're actually looking at the #11 - #15 arc as being single-issue stories, character focused, some relating to those in the mansion, others to those back home, such as Piotr Nicholievitch &/or Elizabeth Braddock. With a surprise of sorts set for 15 to start the new-year (since it's release date is 01/10. I also think there's supposed to be an Annual in here somewhere but MP & Co are too busy right now trying to get Ultimates up to speed for me to pester them for any kind of definitive answer).

Considering X-Men Forever is a bi-weekly series, issues #11-15 will be released sometime between November and January 2010.

ack i don't want to wait until next year lol. i hope he does something with a british betsy thing since he finally has a venue to change the character without being told he can't switch her and it's in an alternative world without consequence.

He did state that he meant for the body swap to be a temporary thing, so maybe that arc has something to do with that. It could be why she went back to England...

guys i don't want to complain but...this story of British Betsy is getting boring and ripetitive...why do you keep complaining of her Asian state?...our favorite x-woman soundly popped up in Marvel Universe and stating as anyone is talking about her on web,on paper even Marvel is making it a great happening she is about to appear and all the upcoming main x-storylines! i am just so happy she's back here that i don't give a damn wether she's Brit or Japanese or if she has TP or TK....we just have to hope writers are going to give her the importance she's been denied these years...please stop with all this comnplaining...it's like crying after having a horse gifted!! I love Betsy back and hope she'll be around for long

Totally agree with Francis...

totally disagree because i suddenly hate asian psylocke physically and i'm not one of those fans that's like "hey it's the same character inside". i don't like the way she looks and it distracts me. i'm sick of her costume. i'm annoyed that they gave us such a glimpse taste of british betsy which made me realize i didn't like the asian one anymore. i'm annoyed that they can't do anything with this great character because marvel is too afraid of their readers being too dumb to recognize a change and instead they want a half naked fan service ploy. i'm angry that fraction would frivoulously use this story so quickly and that the british character could be gone forever or another 20 years after this if he permanently sticks her in KWANNON'S body again. so i'll probably be complaining until the whole thing gets completely resolved.

and the person just said CC might bring in british psylocke in X-men Forever's world of his series so it's not like it has anything to do with Uncanny arguments or anything canon. it wasn't even an argument. it seems like people are getting angry over the constant speculation, but there's going to be speculation in the midst of the body swap storyline! just wait a couple months and everyone will be over it (even me). it's just at the peak of discovering how it will end so of course people will be debating it.

Actually, in Claremont's original idea, Betsy never switched bodies; the Asian body would actually be her original body modified with plastic surgeries and magic. So he could revert her back to how she used to look like, but regardless of her appearance, she'd still be in her own body.

Well, anyway, I'm glad he intends to write at least one story with her. Maybe now he can show how Betsy would be without all the mess she's been into in the 90s (Crimson Dawn, change from telepathy to telekinesis, body swap with an assassin, ridiculous death followed by a confusing ressurrection, etc.). I just hope he keeps her alive and well, and well written (despite his mediocre performance as a writer with the New Exiles, I'm trusting in him one more time).

Also, I read someone saying that he revealed some of his ideas for the X-Men in the 90s (like the Dark Wolverine arc), and one of the ideas consisted of Psylocke getting her head mysteriously blown up. I don't know if this is true, but if it is, I seriously hope Claremont DROPS this idea...

I think that some people are judging Fraction waayyyy to soon, I will at least wait until the story-arc is completed before I get over-the-top happy or sad.

I just think that Marvel at the moment deserves some credit, since this is the first time ever that they have hyped Betsy to this extreme in their history; it's like she's the second coming or something. I'm just stunned by all the attention that they are giving her at the moment. And btw, I totaly agree with you Francis.

Thanks for the correction FSaker, that's what I meant, but I got confused...

And Giles I agree, we should all be happy that she's back and getting the attention she most definetly deserves...We can all freak later, after this story is done.
