Looks like an action packed issue and always excited to see The Butterfly.

Definitely will be picking this up soon.

Butterfly looked gorgeous! Shame To couldn't draw it very much at all under TH.

Really cool seeing her use a giant shield to smash the enemies lol and the references to her modeling days 🥰🥰🥰 Thorne never leave Betsy

Betsy, you Vogue girl! So fun and so pretty! She looks absolutely gorgeous. It's amazing how Thorne portrays her better as a magical girl than we've ever seen under TH in Excalibur.

Indeed. Excalibur would have probably been a much better book had Thorne written it. He manages to make her new magical/Captain Britain skills work while still making Betsy talk and act like Betsy always did (and being competent in what she does).

I think the reason it works @Fsaker is because he promotes Betsy first as a mutant X-Men Psi and essentially doesn't oversaturate her with magic stuff.

I think (and hope) she discovers all this is inside of her naturally and she doesn't need CB and gives it back to Brian.

Imo TH made Betsy's whole identity about CB, and then altered her personality on top of it because she had to fit appearances for that role

(or at least I believe that's what that Cerebro guy said in one of his posts.)

It almost destroyed Betsy imo.

Thorne has Betsy basically back to Dissembled Psylocke in personality and hardly does any CB stuff.

I think this was a very smart move on his part and it paid off immensely for us Betsy fans who missed her true warrior spirit, wit, and lethal edge :)

Delightful and balanced issue, everyone in the team has their special moments! Recalling Lady Braddock's modeling time was cherry on top! I did not follow TH's Excalibut too close, I had not seen Betsy create magical shields before, that was an interesting way to use her Captain Britain's powers too.
Having Colossus around further entices curiosity concerning Tank's identitiy. We've already seen alternates in this series, who knows....
Focus brought to Sage again is promising!! Waiting for the next issue!!

@Edu I could be wrong, but my impression are these are just abilities Betsy has gotten now (or unlocked) from her Otherworld side.

She's not like a wizard, but knows some tricks now like Forge.

I only say this because when they needed to teleport she had to put on CB suit, yet earlier on in another issue she sensed magic without having to put the CB suit on, and again in this issue she did a shield without having to put the outfit on.

I think her CB abilities are when she wears that outfit, otherwise these are Betsy's unlocked innate abilities now being CB or not.

I could be wrong but thats how I interpreted it.

About Colossus, Tank's line makes me wonder if he's the real Piotr and the one with La Diabla is a fake. If that's the case, it brings a question: why would he be hiding his identity from the other X-Force members? Maybe La Diabla somehow took over Colossus's body and Forge rescued his mind and transplanted it into a robotic body or something?

@X-Man, good point. I don't think she will give the mantle back to Brian (at least not in the near future), but it's great to see a writer show that she doesn't need to change her personality just because she's CB, that the mantle is secondary to her own identity.

I'd add that even Betsy's relationship with Rachel feels more genuine and likeable in Thorne's story, as they're shown as being in love with each other while still being capable of separating their time as lovers, as friends and as teammates, with the latter being the focus when they're in action.

I was thinking something similar @Fsaker,
and why is Forge so bent on shielding just his mind and no one else's?

I'm definitely intrigued.

@X-Man the unlocking is very reasonable and the development of those abilities are much better than when Lady Braddock was under TH's writing, as now she is much more bold, creative and efficient when using those.
@FSaker Tank's identity is taking some time to be revealed but I think it will be worth the wait. A fake or an alternate may be possibilities. I don't remember correctly also, but wasn't Tank showed playing remote chess before?? The same was mentioned between Colossus and Magik in X-Men.
@X-Man there might be secrets concerning how the analog does its stuff (I think it was not explained how it detects fractures yet) that might turn Forge against the team again, as happened when Tessa left after Surge's death. I still want to trust Forge, though sometimes his decisions can be ethically questionable. I don't think he hid only his mind, for example, just to be kept safer from other threats he might know and the other members don't. This may let him have the "surprise element" somehow for now until he opens his mind (I hope this happens, or that we get to have a plausible explanation to him not doing it in any circumstance).
I am sooo waiting to see how Sage will react to Xavier' contact!!
