These poll results doe.. honestly not surprised 😆 I think a lot of us are ready for a different writer to take over Betsy. It's been a while
Honestly. No other writer other than Claremont has managed to keep Betsy for so long. It's been almost 3 years. Enough is enough.
To be fair, while Howard's Excalibur run wasn't great, I find it hard to say she did a worse job than Humphries's run or Claremont's Reload era. And then there's Guggenheim's atrocious arc (I suppose the fact that he only wrote an arc and didn't give much focus to Betsy may have helped people to forget about it).
Humphries does deserve some praise for having Betsy delivering a glorious beatdown on Spiral (even though Spiral wasn't even a villain in his run). And... that's pretty much it.
I actually enjoyed Reload Betsy pretty much. New Exiles Betsy on the other hand was when I felt Claremonted dropped the ball big time.
we all agree Betsy never was so well written than with Claremont (she loved her), Remender (preach) and Chris Yost (her solo comic was perfect). Tini Howard it is the worst EVER!
@Jeferson, the thing is, the poll is considering how she was written AFTER her resurrection during the Reload era.
Claremont's work with Betsy during his first run (prior to her death in X-Treme X-Men) was outstanding, but his name in the poll is considering the work he did in the Reload era and in Exiles/New Exiles (and maybe the X-Women partnership with Milo Manara). And these runs were... not so good. Or not good at all.
I mean, Dino-Rachel, anyone?
Really like for real Really?!
I can't
The Russian bots did it
@FSaker,
I'm with you. Humphries' Betsy was awful (With her constant cursing and burglary) and first runner-up to the worst, Matt Fraction's version ("As you wish" being her only written speech at times in an issue). I also hated his Cassandra Nova and Spiral. And while Claremont had Betsy cool af when she first came back from oblivion, I forgot he wrote her in the fetish, Cinemax style softcore porno book. And poor R'Chel, the dinosaur in mini skirt and halter top. I enjoyed it when Betsy knocked her to kingdom come with that TK haymaker!
I like Claremont and Remender and it is hard to vote for one
