What is really good with the lineup of artists on this disassembled story??? As of right now, I am very concerned. I think most of us are.

The uniform actually looks decent here. What scares me is how cartoonish the character looks. This example's face looks very cartoonish to me. Isn't this the same artist who pencils X-Men:Red? his art usually is good there.

It's just a charecter costume mock up. He probably was given lots of requirements of how the writers envisaged a mix of old and new in the costume to invoke the storyline. Personally I think the only reason it was released on Twitter was because of the dispute with fans asking if her she still retained her psi blade. We will probably see more unused versions of this appear like we did with her x force designs in the next couple of weeks leading up to uncanny.

I really like it...can't wait to see it his rendition on the costume on the first Uncanny issue. I love that her hair is big.

@Stewart and Steven, thanks. That makes sense why her face looks so undifferentiated.

BMS, I like her hair there too. I like that it’s not the bouffant style she had pre-Fall of the Mutants, but that she is still wearing it voluminously with annupdate style.

Not bad Mahmud Asrar. The intentions look a lot more different from other artists though.

Overall, great job. Can't wait for Conan the Barbarian with Jason Aaron

The artist is really talented.
However, now Psylocke looks like Jean Grey with different colours...

Oh yes, because Jean Grey is known for her purple hair, butterfly avatar and psy-knive. Sigh.

She looks like Viper in pink. So disappointing.

Just like she looked like Elektra in blue for the past few years then?

This looks great. The way Asrar and Silas draws is way better than Dodson. She still looks very Psylocke.

The newly returned Psylocke is so controversial and has so many triggered.

FLOVE it.

Some dude said...

Never mind that that actually makes sense given their mutual association with the Hand...

Some dude, re: Marvel Girl... that actually makes sense given their mutual association with the X-Men. Duh.

Some dude said...

I never even mentioned Marvel Girl. Do please try to keep up.

@Kevin I meant how the actual character looks and not the stuff around her that is supposed to remind you that it is the same character.

Nah. The artist is cool - his work makes everyone look slick, but that's just him. Ultimately she looks basic AF, and it's not his fault, given the parameters he was likely given to work within. The costume is not distinctive enough, she looks like she's going to jazzercize with the other moms or somethin.

What I do like is the decision to bring back the classic psychic knife. Seeing the knife to the head like old times is badass AF and has been so underused. Might I add, the classic psychic knife was only introduced with Kwannon, so you can attribute that lil nugget of badass psychic goodness to her post-siege timez.

Naw. It was introduced before the Kwannon retcon. If Claremont had had his way. It woukd have been the result of her Hand training and she woukd have retained it once the Asian face shattered and her original face and body were underneath.

And Jem is the shit. The best track is the duet with the Misfits, “Click Clash.”

"the Asian face shattered"

Rahsaan, you're doing that thing again. *eyebrow raise*

What you've described is still post-siege and post-Acts of Vengeance.

@AO,

I said the “Asian Face,” because when Claremont planned that there was no Kwannon. It was all a mask that Psylocke was wearing. I mean no disrespect to Kwannon. There was no Kwannon at the time.

Great new profile pic, Rahsaan!

Maybe Claremont also wanted to make her like a Russian doll, so after shattering her Acts of Vengeance look, you get the British look, but then when you shatter the British look, you get a Dolce & Gabbana fall/winter 2018 look, and then after you shatter the Dolce & Gabbana fall/winter 2018 look, you get a doily and a teabag.

When you remove the doily and teabag you get Jem.

@Outback, I absolutely meant no disrespect to Asian people by referring to Kwannon's face as the "Asian Face." I apologize to you and anyone I did offend. My only excuse is that Kwannon was retcon and I still don't think of her as a developed character. That being said, you are right. She is now cannon and I should refer to her face as Kwannon's face versus the mask that Claremont intended as his plans are not canon due to his departure.

That being said, I dig the Holograms, the Misfits and the Rockers, so I would love for all the X-Men with various hair colors, like Elizabeth, Ororo, Kurt, Lorna, Surge, Blink, Pixie, Guido, Marrow and hell bring back Gosamyr... to form into groups and do musical numbers about all the drama at the mansion.

I am so happy that the Psylocke I first came to love is back. Really curious to see how they incorporate her post-Siege Perilous experiences with her looking like herself again and I hope they touch upon the theme of the warrior within that was shown in Uncanny X-Men Annual #12 when she battles Horde to protect her loved ones.

Oh, and i'm really glad you dig my new photo. Words of praise when they come from you.
