Uncanny X-Force #9
Writer: Sam Humphries

The Story:
• The Fantomex Love Pentagram explodes!
• With the truth about their sordid past fully revealed, can Fantomex, Psylocke, and Cluster look each other in the eye?
• Every psychic ninja needs a vicious animal with no impulse control and a short temper to back her up...right?
• Puck! Man, does that guy love jerky. Especially buffalo and bison jerky, dipped in Canadian whiskey.
• Plus: a terrifying surprise villain from the X-past is definitely playing chess, not checkers, across Los Angeles.

Interesting, but the art could be better...

I am eager to see how this turns out, Paylocke will not kill him, but I hope she delivers him a very good lesson in many ways.

This issue and the way Betsy's "status quo" ends up in terms of her personality and relationships is going to make or break whether or not I keep reading this title.

I hope it's one of those situations where it's a super-intense, action packed combat sequence where things seem like a stand off... then she just shuts his mind down w/o contact and reminds him that first and foremost she is a telepath.

"Pentagram"? Wait... Betsy, Fantomex, Cluster and Weapon XIII are four people... who is the fifth one?

Anyway, it looks interesting. I liked how she answered to Fantomex's comment that she was cheating him, saying that she can't cheat him WITH him.

Talajic's art isn't bad, but I wish Alphona would draw the entire issue... his art is outstanding!

And here i thought Betsy was "done" letting the men in her life dictate the prospective. Why, oh why, is she allowing this faux-French turd to wrest so much emotional priority over her life ? I thought Psylocke was supposed to be better than all this.

"You're lucky I didn't kill you first." Boy, was that the wrong thing to say to her.

Please kill him. Please. lol I still can not believe that she was as much in love with him as she appears to be. It just doesn't seem right, or rather, it is too forced. With ALL the crap she's had to deal with, it seemed too easy for her to love. Or maybe all that stuff is the reason why.

She isn't the strong person she used to be and her relationship with Fantomex has been everything she didn't need. It's been toxic and worse of all, it's reduced who she was and has been keeping her down, weak.

But you know, sometimes relationships are like that. We think they're good at the time, but then that moment of clarity comes and the glass shatters.

Her saying that she, "got caught up," best explains everything.

I really hope this "love" story is coming to an end, finally.

From my point of view, her relationship with Fantomex(es) is not only toxic, but abusive.
He used her, Cluster used her and my bet is that even if if Weapon XIII is the only one who seems to be honest in the whole deal, he's using her to kill the other versions of himself.
Betsy has done so much for them, and all they give back to her is pain and sorrow that she shouldn't feel, and bitterness.
I honestly hate the fact that Cluster is in the cover of the issue following the one that closes this arc, because this probably will draw Betsy back to them (if they are still alive by then, of course).

So glad I decided to drop this title. Psylocke is not even recognizanble in this title. X-men is Psylocke really lives. Dunno what to say about Xforce.

I don't know, I guess it's too early to say that this book is "reducing who she was" or "letting the men in her life dictate the prospective". Maybe Humphries's plan is exactly to show Psylocke realizing how much this relationship with Fantomex(es) is damaging her to make her overcome it?

I mean, he definitely is portraying Betsy's relationship with Fantomex as something harmful to her, even unhealthy (you know, that cover with her getting a Fantomex tattoo makes a lot of sense now). We know that Cluster loves her, Weapon XIII (somehow) loves her, even this new Fantomex himself still loves her. We also know that all three of them still manipulated her and disregarded her feelings, even though they truly love her.

So, maybe this arc will end with Betsy finally moving on from the three Fantomexes. Maybe they will even get to reconcile later (...maybe when/if the three Fantomexes get recombined into a single person?), but not now. The end of this arc may actually show Psylocke as a much stronger person than we think she is. Let's hope so.
