This is fantastic news! It's about time Betsy's fans got to show her real support like this. It also helps that it was a really great issue.

Wow, that's great news!!

But what does "Diamond" (in "Psylocke #1 has sold out at Diamond") stand for? Does it represent the number of copies sold (if so, how many?), the number of days it took the book to sell out, or does it mean something else?

From Sydney - Australia here. Psylocke #1 sold out in a few days!

@FSaker. Diamond is the largest comic book distributor serving in the US. To sell out at Diamond means that every copy Diamond had of Psylocke #1 was distributed (bought) by American Comic Shops.

As far as I know there isn't any chart that calcucates the amount of copies sold from Comic Shops to clients. Those numbers are the amount of copies distributed by Diamond to Comic Shops.

It looks like the demand of Psylocke was pretty high since their considering a Second Printing! Yay.

standing ovation... betsy's back and she's set to rock our x-world!

Considering her inclusion in MUA2 and now this, I think we can expect loads more respect being paid to dear Betsy in the future.
Seriously, like just last year she was close to a nobody in New Exiles and now she's getting super amounts of attention. How awesome is that?

This is amazing news, not that it was any surprise to me! This is some reversal of fortune for our beloved Betsy. She hasn't had this level of fame since the 90s. Do we see a second mini coming?

Best,
centurion

@FSaker - Hey. Good questions. I would assume that it means both, but I defer that answer to someone more knowledgeable. If this momentum keeps up, Betsy will be established as a household name within the X-Men.

I've always said that it takes a good writer to give a fresh perspective to a character whose popularity has been waning for a while. Yost seems to have gotten that formula magic formula well! Tolibao's art also is remarkably good.

i'm happy for her but i HATED it. i seriously debated throwing it in the trash after i brought it home from the comic book store. just hated what they did to her real body.

@Anonymous 5:03AM - True. I hated the cruel demise of the British body, too; however, I don't think that one event should overshadow the strong writing and personality development of Betsy in Psylocke #1.

Best,
centurion.

Oh c'mon guys. It's just a disgusting corpse.

@Anonymous 6:52PM - Yes. Particulary after that kind of end...

It's comics, there are about 10 plot devices that I can think of to bring British Betsy back and I'm sure the guys at Marvel could come up with one if they chose to bring the body back. After all, Betsy was ressurected by falling out of thin air, no questions asked.

So maybe her brother could come back some day and make her British again. There's just one idea, an I am sure everyone here could think of others.

@Anonymous 3:31PM - That's very true. Magic, time travel, cloning, are probably among those 10 plot devices. I guess we can argue effectively at times that what is considered to be "canon" in the Marvel universe isn't always that way at all. I honestly prefer the Asian Betsy, but admire the British as well. I guess as long as Betsy is a well-defined character that is assigned to strong writers and relevant X-stories, then I will be overly content.

Based on popularity and marketability, the Asian Psylocke reigns supreme and has so for the past two decades. I think Marvel's objective now is not to complicate Psylocke's history any further. I think they want to establish her indefinitely as a British woman in an Asian body.

Nah its time to put her british body to rest (sadly betsy didnt have that privledge) that chapter is closewd.i was a massive british betts fan.but its over.and we are getting a kick ass story for it.

I agree, PsySpears. That chapter of Psylocke's life has ended a long time ago. I'm not sure why are you guys so angry the British body was destroyed? It would rotten and turn into crap the same way eventually. ^^

centurion said...

@Anonymous 6:15PM and PsySpears - Yes, I agree with you both. British Betsy should rest in peace. I think that was one of the objectives of the mini.
