and Thorne writing her

Well it's possible the pitch he just made to editorial for a title including Betsy may be approved.

@randy — Geoffrey pitched a new book? Do you have any details or is he keeping it all under wraps for now?

randybear said...

He mentioned it I think on CBR. Just that it's focused on Betsy, no real details I guess in case it's approved.

@randy — Thanks. Was it in the comments section of an article or an interview? I tried googling to see if I could read more, but couldn’t find any statements from him.

Not sure sorry! I only saw it becuase someone snipped it and tweeted it. I'll try to find it

Thanks! I appreciate you! It would be dope if he gave us a great Betsy-centered book!

As there are only this and one more issue, guess we willl get to see La Diabla's defeat and Tank's identity revelation (I hope), but we won't get to know better who she is, her motives and what/who was behind the fractures.
Such a shame. The book had excellent potential and a different direction from the other titles.

Is it just me or do Brevoort’s replies to fans about this cancellation feel condescending?

Edu said...

Very good question...as one can think that, as pointed by other colleagues, X-Force was not selling that bad and other titles that were selling less than X-Force are still ongoing.....
A former post from last month stated even Thorne was not sure why the book was cancelled. There might be other non oficial reasons we have not come to now yet, or that would not be well received by readers......so sticking to a (seemingly) reasonable scapegoat might have been an option to Brevoort for now.
Well, sooner or later, truth always comes out.

I am not sure if I answered you properly heh, but considering that backlash from the audience would be the last thing Brevoort would want and that the attributed reason for cancelling was poor sales (which is not all that justifiable/credible/believable as there are books whih sold less than X-force are still ongoing), then yes, his anwswer may have been condescending and, thus, convenient too.

Psylocke sales are so bad and it's obvious Cebulski won't let it get canceled before better selling books smh

The contradiction in the low sales excuse is a fact.
Brevoort's comments based on this sound not only condescending, but also seem hypocrate.

Brevoort is keeping Phoenix, Storm, Psylocke, Magik, and other solos alive by flooding the market with variant covers by popular artists. Magik #1 has like 30 variant covers, it's crazy. Meanwhile, X-Force, X-Factor, and NYX haven’t received the same treatment. The fact that X-Force #10 (Legacy #300) only has one variant with reused artwork and another featuring old Marvel vs. Capcom character designs speaks volumes.

Interesting as Brevoort is an admitted Illyana-hater.

Granted, this is a very old statement. Maybe in the years since, he’s grown fond of or at least can tolerate her.

Brevoort’s replies to fans has been condescending more than not… it’s even found its way onto the books in the letters sections. He is extremely unprofessional in that regard.
