Excalibur #26 Spoilers

Spoilers: Arthur’s forces take over the Starlight Citadel, but Merlyn has his eyes set on Avalon in order to force each and every mutant to cross the gates back to Krakoa. Saturnyne uses her powers to teleport herself and Captain Britain back to Castle Avalon, where they meet the rest of Excalibur.

Saturnyne explains that during the incursions (Time Runs Out, 2015), she had captured a Mapmaker and used its reality-travelling powers to escape the collapse of the Multiverse. Saturnyne and the Mapmaker landed on Blightspoke, a cemetery for broken realities. After exhausting its powers, the Mapmaker became an orb. Eventually, Merlyn and Roma found Saturnyne in Blightspoke. Unbeknownst to Merlyn, Saturnyne and Roma had forged an alliance to get rid of Merlyn. Saturnyne unleashed the Mapmaker’s power against Merlyn, essentially killing him. As a god, he would eventually be brought back to life; however, by then, Saturnyne had already secured her position as Omniversal Guardian, while securing a beautiful kingdom for Roma. In the ensuing chaos, Otherworld was reformed as we know it now, with ten realms.

Meanwhile, the British Government threatens to take action against mutantkind, as the Braddock Lighthouse begins to emit unnatural energies as a result of the Starlight Citadel’s fall to Merlyn. Xavier and Emma Frost wants to close off the gates to Otherworld for good, while Rachel tries to reason with them. Excalibur returns through the Gate. Emma and Xavier ask Betsy to forget about Otherworld and seek diplomatic contact with the authorities. Betsy thinks it’s best to fight the war on Otherworld and is encouraged by Rachel.

Back to Otherworld, Arthur’s army marches towards Castle Avalon and a battle ensues between Arthur’s forces and Excalibur, joined by the Captain Britain Corps. Jubilee decides to take Shogo back to Krakoa for his own safety. Merlyn, Morgan Le Fay and Coven Akkaba all join forces to push the mutants back to Castle Camelot and the gates. Betsy orders Excalibur to retreat and fall back to Krakoa, bringing each and every mutant with them. At that moment, Merlyn, Morgan Le Fay and Coven Akkaba combine their powers to destroy the gates. However, Excalibur manages to cross the gate because Betsy used her Starlight Sword to hold it open until everyone was safe back on Earth.

After making sure everyone was safe, Betsy asks for reinforcements to fight the war on Otherworld as she teleports back to Avalon by herself to lead the Captain Britain Corps against Merlyn. Xavier is astonished by Betsy’s bravery while Rachel notes that she’s doing what she always done: fighting for a world that hates and fears her.

What irks me is Betsy as Captain Bullcrap. I can munch the rest and burn their calories. Tho Captain Betsy is hard to swallow.

What exactly betsy did While CB? Brand a sword and nothing. The great moment in 26 magazines was when she was really psylocke. And even that turns to be a temporary Victory considering Arthur Still around...

So, we wanted Betsy to be more involved with the Krakoan society... and judging by this final issue and what BleedingCool indicated about Knights of X, the new book will do the exact opposite and isolate her even more from the X-Men.

Maybe KoX will be a good book, but it will already start on the wrong foot.

and probabily they´ll transform betsy and rachel in a couple...

KoX we'll never name it that after a specific mental image. Crossing fingers it isn't a hoax for Betsy.

Betts didn't wear the kettle jail while doing her thing so we'll see the real deal kicking butt only out of the CB duds and clam up again. Fourty years pass to read another Excalibur #26 with the badass Betsy.

So Excalibur is finally over. The only moment that was really outstanding was when Betsy took down Arthur, but then again, he returned in the next issue as if nothing happened. I have bought and read every single issue, and I have to say: Howard is a crappy writer. I don't enjoy her style. She's writing fanfic, not real stories. And her writing is extremely hard to follow. Like why are Betsy and Rachel making out now? I know Cluster blablabla, but still why? You don't have to turn established characters bisexual, you can go an create new ones.

For me I viewed Betsy as pansexual before Leah was like "NO SHES BI LIKE ME" considering Betsy couldn't Stand Cluster at all until she realized the good brain was in there it meant Betsy was in love with the essence of fantomex good brain not necessarily clusters female body. But whatever

The end was the beginning a chaos I didn't understand. One of the low hanging fruits to burn from hox and pox.
