So, Howard will write Secret X-Men... could it mean she won't be involved in Excalibur anymore? And if so, would it mean Excalibur is cancelled or could it continue with another writer?

I know many people here will love if she stops writing Betsy, but that brings the question: will ANYONE be writing Betsy or will she get the "Dazzler treatment" and become a background character that no one wants to use?

Speaking of Dazzler, it's sad that she isn't in this Secret X-Men team; she'd fit very well in this line-up. That said, it's a pretty cool team, and it's great to see Marrow being used again! I loved her as a rebellious member in the late 1990s, and her interactions with Kitty (currently Kate) actually made me dislike Kitty a little less than I usually did (Kate Pryde is great, but Kitty Pryde was a terrible Mary Sue).

Secret X-Men is a one-shot, so I doubt it will greatly impact Tini’s responsibilities.

No Excalibur in Feb?! Fuck this Wolverine shit Marvel

Rahsaan said...

@Simon, what if I were to inform you that both Elizabeth and Kwannon will be featured and play important roles in this upcoming James/Logan story?

X-Man said...

@Rahsaan I know that was directed at @Simon specifically, but have you heard that Betsy & Kwannon will be in those issues? That may change my intention on not buying them lol.

Simon said...

Haha @Rahsaan I’m as easily turned as you

Steve Orlando, the new Marauders writer already said that Betsy will be busy in another book. We'll just have to wait for the Wolverine fest to be over until the relaunch in late March/April. Ugh.

X-Man said...

@Simon turned as easily as @Rahsaan or me? Lol. I just want to make sure I wasn't ignoring a comment meant for me haha.

X-Man said...

Yeah they said that when asked if she'd have any interactions/team ups with Kwannon, but the way they said it, I couldn't tell if the other book (other than Marauders) was Excalibur or something else.

Captain Britain Betsy is a big diss to take. Been going for too long and for what the fuss Betsy banned from Psylocke. She's white so what she's been before drop the kung fu ish and grab the sword and shield. FFS Revanche can be the Asian Psylocke without snatching Betsy's stuff the solution they went from day one.

Unknown Orlando begin straying Revanche away from the butterfly and Betsy. He's known for creating new POC characters so he should build up Revanche and scrap the Fallen Angels and Hellions Psyclone deal.

@X-Man 🤦🏻‍♂️ You I meant.

X-Man said...

Lol I kinda figured @Simon. No worries.

Rahsaan said...

@X, sorry for the super late reply. I missed this. I was actually being facetious and kidding around with Simon. Based on how this Hickman era has treated Bets to date, I would be shocked if she appeared as anything more than background without dialogue during this upcoming James Howlett Fest. I doubt Kwannon will too but it’s more likely she would at least get a voice bubble on panel.

X-Man said...

Damn @Rahsaan, I was getting excited haha. No worries man :)

Gerry Duggan's X-Men is really boring so far. There is nothing in 2022 that I am psyched about. I need to know that Betsy will be featured in something in 2022.

randybear said...

Yeah all I see people talk about is how cool Lorna is in the book but literally nothing else lol

Rahsaan said...

@randy, she ain't that cool in the book aside from sassy one-liners that are cute. The inly two interesting X-books right now are Hellions and Inferno, both scheduled to end.

And that's for the best. I am convinced that the reason these books become or even start out stale is that these characters are treated like perpetual franchises versus phasing out through aging/death/retirement and then having new characters continue the legacy and so on and so forth over generations. We just have so many characters that do much of nothing.

randybear said...

I believe it! Twitter really exaggerates what goes on in the books. I havent read any of Duggens Xmen but it comes off as fluff until the next big era hits

I guess I have already said this before, but in case I didn't, I think you would REALLY enjoy JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. One of its biggest appeals is that each part or saga has a new protagonist, most of the roster from the previous part is retired (either dying, getting too old or just living in another part of the world), and the few who do return get a little older and their personalities often mature (for instance, the hero of a certain part - I won't say which because it would be a spoiler - is quite angsty, but his personality gets MUCH more pleasant when he returns as a supporting character in the following part).

It's also quite a creative story when it comes to superpowers. Sadly, it starts off quite mediocre and its power rules in Parts 1 and 2 are very different from the ones adopted from Part 3 onwards, but the evolution this manga experiences throughout the years (and DECADES) is astonishing. Each Part also has its own feel (one can be more violent, one can be lighter and funnier, one can have the heroes traveling around the world, other takes place in one single town from start to finish, and so on). There's even a reboot in a certain point that I consider bolder than any reboot or retcon that DC and Marvel ever tried to do.

@randybear I like Lorna count for something big because she has little time with the X-Men. Synch was an underdog to make it big X-Man. Captain Krakoa is a bad idea as bad as Betsy as Captain Britain.

@FSaker Tini Howard will do a bad job with all the vote losers. It's short so they walk free unlike Betsy and her company for 26 issues and some tie ins.
