I hope Children of the Atom was cancelled.

Was issue one worse than all nine issues of Excalibur?

Its not out but the premise sounds awful and the interviews done on the author doesnt sound like they/them (that's what they prefer to be referenced as) completely missed the mark on what the XMen are.

Also there are so many mutants available now from all eras (not to mention tons of xkids) and they're introducing MORE characters when there are so many that need love after years of being gone.

I agree, the X-books (especially now) don’t need more characters, especially ones that are knockoffs of already existing characters. I wish we got a book focusing on all the underused characters like Oya, Hellion, Benjamin Deeds, etc.

It's just a ploy to see if these characters stick so they can eventually/potentially replace the white versions IMO. Which is lame just create new characters or better yet choose from the huge pool of XMen characters that are PoC that no one touches.

It took them so long to bring back characters like Synch, Mondo, Darwin etc and yet they wanna focus on these Burger King Kids Club knock-offs (please google that if you're unfamiliar)

To be fair, it seemed as if the CotA's similarities to the X-Men was going to be a plot point... maybe they were going to be artificially-created mutants by Mr.Sinister?

It could be interesting. But if it's cancelled, it's not a big loss; we can't miss what never existed, can we?

(if that's the case, I wonder if Marvel will have that X of Swords promotional art reworked, as one of the CotA characters was on it... sure, most people will likely just think he's Archangel, but still)

@randy, LMAO. I don't think I would have ever again in my life recalled the daggone Burger Kings had you not mentioned them.

@randy, Good point about all the characters we love who are in editorial limbo. I am psyched that X-Factor will be showing love to Northstar, Prodigy, and Lorna! And was psyched to say Petra, Darwin, and Sway return in X-Men!

Also, can we please get some Dust and Cecilia?

Hell, at this point I would take the return of Gosamyr over any new creations!

randybear said...

I hate how Cecilia is regulated to generic cameos whenever a doctor is required. No one is able to write her as interesting as during her introduction.

And I'm also surprised we haven't seen Dust in a while.

Rahsaan said...

@randy, Word! Cecilia had so much spunk and personality when we first met her. Who wrote then? Lobdell, right? I don't understand why anyone writing her after cannot remotely mimic that. I even liked the chemistry she and Robert had and was certain they were going to make them into an item or at least into good friends. She and Marrow also had great chemistry as rivals and I loved how she would sass that latter!

And is Dust still stuck over with the Young Avengers of whoever she was with?

randybear said...

Oh I didnt even know Dust joined YA lol still weird we havent seen a single cameo or background appearance of her on Krakoa, hell we even saw Firestar.

FSaker said...

I wasn't even aware the Young Avengers were back... who is on the team now? Is any of the original members still part of it?

Rahsaan said...

@randy and @Fsaker, my bad. I meant the Champions; not Young Avengers. However, according to Marvel Wiki, she is on Krakoa! I don't recall seeing her at at Mother Mold Defeat Party!!

Cool, thank you for the information!

I used to love the Young Avengers (both the Heinberg run and the Gillen one - which is odd considering how different they are from each other). I found out that apparently the original team (minus Teen Vision who is still dead and Iron Lad who is still messing with the timeline) reunited in a one-page story in Marvel Comics #1000. However, with Hulkling now involved with the Empyre event, this group may crumble again.

I hope not; it would be great to have both them and the Runaways back. Even better if they get another crossover with the full teams (considering Gert is alive this time).

...As for Dust, if she really is on Krakoa, she'd better appear soon on any X-book. I miss her a lot!
