maybe not the CB mantle on itself, but expansion on her being part Otherworolder and waht that means for her would be interesting. I don't mind her having the starlight sword alongside her psi weapons either, it seems to be rather useful.
Indeed; personally, I'm not against Betsy keeping the CB mantle for a little longer. Though I wish she would turn the Starlight Sword back into the Amulet of Right (I mean, Betsy can already generate swords with her own psychic powers, and the Starlight Sword feels redundant when Magik already has a magic sword).
I think Thorne did exactly what he described brilliantly.
Betsy being mostly mutant with a little "extra juice" .
I definitely would go with @Hoxor in Betsy being magic (and mutant obviously) I find this much more interesting than being CB.
The feats are basically Betsy herself and like @Lucas said, it expands on her Otherworld abilities.
I'm fine with all of that (I just don't want to see Otherworld for any extended time lol).
I'm very happy with how Thorne has handled Betsy and definitely will keep writing TPTB for him to get either another team book or a solo book with her.
It’s all about balance. Betsy’s Captain Britain armor serves a purpose, like Emma’s diamond form or Monet’s penance form. We’ve seen how useful her magical/ CB side can be when her mutant power are subverted. Pulling out the armor (or a new CB look) and Starlight Sword a few times in a ten issue run would be lovely.
I feel like we as Betsy fans, have to be happy with crumbs. This X-Force run was an inprovement from Tini, but lets face it, it's was not brilliant. At least for me, I feel they are turning Betsy into purple Magik: teleport, magic, another magic sword, huge swords manifestations... meh. I rather have a stealthy, psi tricks, psi blast, psi knife, agile, hand to hand fighter Betsy. But hey to each their own. Now it looks like shes going to limbo for a while. I keep thinking Marvel doesn't know what to do with her.
It's sad to say but Betsy's character has dwindled down ever since she went back into her original body. Though the effort to restore her was admirable, her character never fully developed to what it was, at least back to time of Claremont/Davis, or what it could be.
To distinguish her from Kwannon in terms of fighting abilities, I think that she needs to be re-introduced to a former self when she was an agent for STRIKE. She would be more military and less ninja-like. Also, I love Rachel Summers, but Betsy's relationship with Rachel just doesn't seem to be real or 'written' in a real way. It seems a bit too pushed.
Anyway, let's see what happens to our dear Betsy, but I have a feeling that Kwannon, who I also like, will be taking over. I am interested to see how this residual personality of Betsy (or Revanche) inside Kwannon develops into a story. While redundant, I feel like it needs to be addressed too...after all Betsy was in Kwannon's body for over 3 decades.
Hopefully whatever ongoing Betsy joins next it gets more than 10 issues and it is involved with other books and team members. I’m tired of her always being in a situation where she’s isolated from her old teammates.
@lucas I agree. I love the association with OW that makes her more than just another telepath as OW is in her DNA. I like the starlight sword too because if her powers are ever dampened or her enemy isn’t affected by psychic damage then she can always use the starlight sword plus I love its design it really looks powerful. I just hate the cape and superhero look on Betsy and hope she can go back to wearing something in between the Asrar look and her current XForce look
I think Thorne had the challenge of not only getting Betsy's voice back but also having to basically repair the damage Howard did in the 3 books she was allowed.
X-force was supposed to be 15 issues, so kinda sad that Thorne had to be rushed at the end or TPTB wouldn't allow him to reveal "Tank's" identity as Colossus earlier.
But I love that Thorne requested Betsy and that he pitched a solo book for her, I hope he gets it (which to me shows he has ideas for her).
Personally for me, I think it definitely would be a challenge to only get 10 issues and only 1 book a month (as I think in past there were like 2 books a month, maybe even with Tini?)
At the end of the day it was a team book, not a book just focused on Betsy and that wasn't loads of time to totally implement all his ideas for her, but the moments he was able to give her to shine, I am very happy to have seen.
Tini had a team book, but the main character (once Apocalypse left) was Betsy, it was just to Betsy's detriment because Tini wrote Betsy terribly out of character.
If Thorne is allowed 3 books with Betsy, I think she'd be in great hands.
I already loved how he got her out of that CB outfit, I think that was a great idea because it gave me (and prob many others), PTSD and reminded me of the days with TH.
For a team book that was only once a month and just 10 issues? I think Thorne did a phenomenal job.
I can only imagine what he could accomplish with a Betsy focused book.
I'm definitely going to keep writing TPTB asking for more Thorne & Betsy :)

"I am magic" ✨💜
proof that the CB lore works with the right writer
also, the more defined petal butterfly manages to look both delicate and powerful. To, the artist you are
If anything this run proves she doesn’t need the CB mantle. Other than teleporting the team via OW she did everything else on her own.

To each their own, but I enjoyed this book a lot.
