It's Betsymas season!
The instant I caught up on the news I had the impulse to share the joy. A very Christmas fitting present. The cover is Phoenix iconic and Betsy finally gets her much deserved return to her butterfly and psychic roots.
In spite of this is an elseworlds, tie-in, self contained story, Betsy in her Disassembled costume showcasing her full might of mutant powers is priceless. She deserved the tribute cover.
The big butterfly effect traces back to when Betsy used it for flight in Cullen Bunn's run. A very underrated use of her power signature usually associated with her telepathy, mind comm link and illusion casting.
@Jamie, I recall that panel. It’s one of Land’s better ones. It’s one of the few times we’ve seen her manifest the butterfly power signature while using her telekinesis to self-levitate. Another time was during Fraction’s run as part of Second Coming. Also, drawn by Land (but not as nicely that time).

I previously said I would love to see her switching up uniforms based on her mood/mission (like other characters do). Would love to see her wear the Anke-design again too. Even though, she was in Kwannon’s bod, I think it would slick on her own bod too (as if all this stuff isn’t really just up to how the artists draws her and most draw women characters with identical/very similar anatomies)
@Rahsaan Bunn wrote Betsy in a unique and versatile power set. I can't recommend it more to any Betsy fan. The epilogue with Betsy eliminating Magneto was a long time coming culmination of their relationship since Betsy met Erik as the headmaster at the mansion. Their viewpoints are night and day but their strategies run on the same fuel.
Kris Anka's design is fitting for Betsy's stealth missions. It doesn't matter if Betsy was trapped in the Asian body while wearing it. Kwannon is set to the hand costume for if not it's hard to recognize her in the crowd. The Disassembled costume can be the normal X costume and her many others used in different circumstances as you mentioned.
She has risen! Betsy in full plumage looking very Fae-like. Obsessed!
Finally!
Beautiful😍
5 years without this Betsy hurts. I missed her
OMG YESSSSSS!!!!
Interesting interpretation, I immediately thought it seemed Phoenix like when I saw it. Loving it either way.
I love Betsy like this. I don't care if they call her Captain Britain or Psylocke just let her be like this.
Same. I hate that she had to lose her signature looks to wear that stupid Union Jack
We'll have to wait and see whether this story will be good, but at least we can already see that the cover will be gorgeous. I love this uniform of hers.
I hope shes back for good not just for a mission. Captain Britain doesn't work for her. I rather have a stealthy agile tricky telepath with mental tricks and psi knifes and martial arts, she's a butterfly not Superman.
Lucas Werneck used to do beatiful covers and designs, but this cover looks lazy. Their deadlines must be crazy to show something like this as a cover.
Christmas came early this year
The Dead X-Men logo might not necessarily be a portent for bad news. I'm the least electrified to see this much beloved Psylocke Betsy version under said title.
Were I the conspiracist I would say Marvel lays the red carpet to rip it off and let the fans down hard on the bear cold floor.
Regardless it proves Captain Britain Betsy was unmarketable.
@Eoleo, agreed. Also, I don’t think any of us assumed the title spells trouble for Elizabeth. I think we all assumed based on Steve Foxe’s interview that she is a crucial figure assisting the newly elected X-Men that Nimrod murdered on the mission that it sounds like Rachel is giving them. It seems like Rachel is using her powers’ intersection of psionics and time manipulation. I wonder if these dead X-Men will be solely astral or is they will he corporeal.
Yeah Foxe said she was just going to cameo but the positive response on Twitter led him to greatly increase her role in the story now, which is wonderful! Especially if she's going to be in the Asrar look
@randy, right! And I’m really hoping he shows her doing some cool stuff with her powers as we’ve not seen her be creative in fibe years!
Really nice cover!
While I like the Disassembled costume, I do think that Betsy would have had an equal presence in her CB costume, especially as she holds her TK sword.
I feel that Betsy is now in this gray state between Kwannon and Jean Grey, where her individuality is not yet fully clear. I hope the writers do her justice.
