There you have it. Tini Howard took to her newsletter to confirm that Knights of X #5 is indeed the final issue. Unfortunately, she also confirms that she's not done writing Betsy Braddock yet and teases a new book focused on Captain Britain. Maybe third time's a charm, right? 😢

I had some edibles and am giddy af... Then I come here are read the summary above and when I got to "Unfortunately," I fell all the way out. Like flatlined. LMFAO still.
That being said, I am enjoying this book, and Elizabeth it is beyond 10-fold (or X-fold) what I was Excalibur. Granted, there are still some glitches in the writing, but overall the book is actually enjoyable to meand I look forward to next installments after each issue. There are still some things I am dissatisfied with andhoping Tini will do in service to displaying Bets' full psychic abilities in creative ways. As well as the powers off her other cast members. I high-key hope this maybe greatest ride of Betsy's yet will tie together a bunch of things, Like Betsy's very intimate experience with the Sage Perilous and maybe having some powerful destiny with it,the union of Nimrod and the Furies, and Besty and others being pivotal to breaking Moira's curse.
Also earlier today, I was thinking about Rachel and Elizabeth, and started to question why I was so not into what might be an awesome love story. I decided to be open to it and see what happens. At thevery least, maybe we'll get an on-panel awkward scene where Betsy and Rachel are with Ray's family, and will telepathically overhear everyone else's thoughts:
Cyke: Damn, daughter! You did good. You know Betsy wanted me majorly! You're a chip right off the old man!
Jean: Betsy, I know you can hear this. We cool, but rest assured you are still a skank. You stay after Summers stuff.
Nathan: I hope y'all ain't talk ish about me and my clones and how Betsy thinks we get down!
Alex: Still don't trust this chick. Also, she still could get it.
Also, if the\is maybe greatest ride involves a redo of the much-botched The Twelve storyline (who wrote that stuff? Was it Davis??) and it goes off the earlier stuff that Claremont, Simonson, and company alluded to with the Twelve being pivotal against Nimrod and the Sentinels and reminds us that Betsy was one of the suspected 12 at one time, then I'll hang with it. Granted, this is all pure wish list indulgence for me.
I must have jinxed this. I always thought the worst thing would be either Leah Williams next or if Howard was given a CB solo.. I hate it here
@Rahsaan I'd like another writer to take Betsy over, but KOX is far better than Excalibur imho I admit. My big issue with Tini is she is so into this D&D themed stuff, that I'm afraid that she's never going to let go of Otherworld and keep Betsy and company trapped there somehow (cause Otherworld can keep with the D&D themes with creatures etc etc). I do like magic, however, when I read X-Men related stuff I'd like a little less fantasy. I'm really ready for Betsy and the others to return to Krakoa honestly. Even if Tini is still writing for her. Hopefully this new book is something good.
...So I guess Betsy is stuck in Otherworld for a little (or a LOT) longer, right?
Not what I wanted. Still, as @X-Man pointed out, this new book does seem like an improvement over Excalibur, so I guess as long as Howard keeps improving, it's okay. I mean, it could be worse (Betsy has been in far worse X-books before).
Still, I hope Howard manages to make Betsy RELEVANT to the Marvel universe (or at least to the X-Men); there's no point in trying to make a character look good if they remain isolated in their corner (especially with Marvel constantly pushing the idea of their books being a shared universe where each book has impact in the others). I do thank her for keeping Betsy away from the X-Men's upcoming war against the Eternals and the Avengers, though (Gillen is writing it, so it will probably be MUCH better than AvX and IvX, but I'm just tired of "superheroes in war against other superheroes" stories... DC's events are also repetitive but they at least usually have their heroes fighting ACTUAL SUPERVILLAINS instead of each other).

We do not know with certainty that Bets will still be stranded in Otherworld after Knights end. All Tini said was that she and Betsy aren't done yet and that up next is what may be her greatest ride yet. I'm not high anymore like I was when I first commented, but my sentiment is the same. Maybe Tini is bringing her home in a majestic way that will tie her directly into the greater lore.
I am curious to see what the Siege Perilous has in store for her. Especially if it ties back to what she did in the Outback. It is odd that we have never seen any kind of on-panel apology or conversation between her, Alison, Piotr, and Alex. Granted she saved their lives, but she completely removed all of their agency in the matter. I would love to see her talk with them about that. The only time I ever recall her addressing that was to Wolverine when she broke free of the Hand.

Let's hope so. I understand that Tini Howard spent a lot of effort to create the new Otherworld and define its kingdoms, peoples and stuff; I understand that she wants to use it in her stories, and it's even cool to see it appearing frequently... but it's not cool to restrict her books solely to Otherworld.
If Betsy is going to stay as Captain Britain, I want Captain Britain to be a major superheroine in the Marvel universe, to interact more with the Krakoan society - and even with the non-mutant superheroes. She could even become a member of the Defenders (the Namor team, not the Heroes for Hire rebranded as Defenders) - after all, unlike the Avengers, the Defenders are more like heroes who occasionally team up to deal with greater threats but with each of them doing their own thing most of the time, so it wouldn't keep her away from the X-books.
I do believe Howard genuinely likes writing Betsy and that she does want to do big things with her. I just hope she'll do it right this time.
The problem is that Howard enjoys writing HER VERSION of Betsy. Remember that interview where she was like "I know people like badass Betsy, but this is not realistic, I've given her my struggles as a woman!!!111!!!" That's all you need to now. She doesn't care about Betsy, she cares about using Betsy as a mouthpiece self-insert. This actually happens with her Selina Kyle/Catwoman as well. Catwomans fans are on the same boat as us.
I do enjoy KOX more than her Excalibur. But I think she's a good writer for certain characters, not Betsy though.

Keeping Tini is throwing money to the garbage. Cancel everything and hire a good writer for Betsy and everybody. Enough is enough.
