Y'all are right about this artist. This looks like a 1980s Hanna-Barbara cartoon. That being said, when this reality is undone, I kinda do what Northstar, Iceman, Jubilee, and Psylocke on a team. Add in Warpath, M, Dr. Reyes and Prodigy and I'll be happy as a pig in shit.

Random question. Have Jubilation and Alison ever interacted on-panel aside from the mall issue where the X-Men rescue the former from MSquad? I know that Tabitha and Jubes have and acknowledged the similarities of their powers. I always thought that Jubes' power is like a combination of Dazzler and Boom-Boom's, and wondered if the likeness to Dazz's was ever addressed.

I'd really like Blink on the Xtremists team they need a teleporter anyway.

@randybear,

Blink would be great! Where is Clarice anyway? I know she was with the New Mutants for a time after being resurrected during Necrosha, but since they disbanded, has she been seen? Did you mean 616- Clarice or AoA-Clarice?

randybear said...

Either but preferably 616. I think last we saw her was in a Cable series a year ago or so but not even sure if that is canon cause the story of course was a convoluted time traveling mess.

If she comes back I just hope she doesnt have that hideous green outfit she was given during New Mutants and doesnt behave like an annoying party girl anymore haha

I dont hate this pin up lol I really like how Psylocke is drawn here but I can see how others wouldn't care for this style. Its not my favorite but could be a lot worse (looks at David Baldeon's art)

Been saying that the X-tremists lacked teleporters to solve and tackle violations across the world. Don't know if there are sub-divisions which help but driving around on a VW van like Scooby-Doo is humiliating. Nightcrawler, 616 Blink, Amelia Voght or Pixie should have been there to aid.

@Rahsaan Chisolm I don't think Dazzler and Jubilee have talked much after the M Squad incident. They have met again when Dazzler came back from Mojoworld with Longshot after the Siege Perilous separation and at Joseph's funeral, maybe some other time too but not something noteworthy.

@randybear It's bad that regular Blink hasn't had any actual development after her resurrection other than being Selene's pet like Wither. AoA Blink has become a comic relief and this is the perfect opportunity for serious Blink to reunite with her Generation X teammates. I'd like to see Skin and Synch be resurrected, especially Synch who is the most powerful X-Man known to date, without counting Darwin. Blink had left Genosha during Necrosha with Mortis who is Dazzler's sister never to be seen again.

Rahsaan said...

@Jaime... LOL at the X Mystery Machine! I think Blink was in an arch after Necrosha as was Mortis. I think Blink rocked with the New Mutants for a while after Necrosha. And didn't Mortis and Dazz have a brief one-shot with Cyclops, Psylocke and/or Emma trying to help cure Mortis of her mental illness?

randybear said...

Yeah I did not care at all for Blink in the most recent series. It's like they were trying to make her have that.. cliche sassy young girl persona they give all the other characters like.. Molly Hayes, that POS Honey Badger, Ms Marvel, SpiderGirl. Like she was all quippy and sarcastic I really hated it.

I'm a huge Blink fan and she hasn't had any good writing in a long while. It's a shame cause she's so visually appealing and doesnt need a "hip trendy" persona change

randybear said...

She was in New Mutants but good God I'd rather she was still in limbo. Her design was terrible and she was written like such an annoyinf party girl. I remember she was like.. "TEQUILA SHOTS!!!" *Cringe*

Has she popped up anywhere since? Other than that Cable arc she cameoed in a couple yrs ago

Jaime Braz said...

@Rahsaan Yes now you mention it Betsy tried her best to rehabilitate Mortis, it's because the story was a drop in the Necrosha ocean making it forgettable. Has Mortis woken up from her coma?

The good with Selene taking over was the amount of great dead mutants get reanimated. The original Hellions and Cypher but not Synch and Skin apparently. Wish they will though.

What I take from the cover is that Betsy can change her psionic weapons. Here she wields a rapier instead of a claymore. Imagine her battling versatility increase big time with lances, crossbows and whips to her advantage.

@randybear Blink written recently out of character, compared to the little real she showed during the Phalanx Covenant, reminded me of Gwenpool. Clarice will either be a red heifer like Thunderbird in stories or a comic relief. It's a shame so many Wolverine clones get the push in comics when real Blink really needs it. Jubilee as well needs some love but Blink has it worse. I don't know if she has appeared anywhere else although she might be inside Age of X-Man.

@Jaime and @randy, I think I’d rather AOA Blink get stranded here and 616 Blink die again. Truth be told, I’d rather see a few other character return to the fold and be on an active X-Men team:

M
Cypher
Dust
Dr. Reyes
Prodify
Wisdom

Also, whoever mentioned Synch... 💯!!! That’d be awesome for M as she so loved him! And he was a friend to Jubes!

Rahsaan said...

Rictor is also another who I’d love to see back.

randybear said...

Yeah I'm surprised M has been dropped from the limelight recently. She woulda been great on Scott's current ragtag team.

Low key hate that Triad girl from XMen Red lol Feel like she looks too similar to M even wearing her red signature color lol Plus her power sucks compared to M.

randybear said...

Holy crap I literally had forgotten about Rictor. When's the last time he was seen on panel?

Jaime Braz said...

@Rahsaan I agree with your choices except for Blink 616 dying because I love her and she should have a proper reunion with the rest of Gen X members since she died sooner than Thunderbird and didn't have chill time with Jubilee, Husk, M, Chamber, Skin, Synch and Mondo or any adventures so they could bond. These lost years being dead need to catch up in a new Gen X ongoing.

I mentioned Synch as he is an old time favorite tied with Maggott. Both are the best black male mutant representation in X-Men and have awesome powers. Who wouldn't want a rainbow aura like Synch that tracks living signatures and copies permanently other superpowers making you the strongest in the universe? Or having a sentient digestive system as twin pets that consume anything and transfer superpower and stamina to you?

Technically, Jubilee, Synch and M were a love triangle. Jubilee resented that Synch was attracted to M and M was a spoiled princess who had it all. Jubilee and M had the best dispute in comics which eventually came to an end when Synch sacrificed himself.

Dust is one of the best new students and Cecilia Reyes is a great X-Man veteran who desperately needs a codename but the fact Armor has similar powers puts Cecilia on ice.

Jaime Braz said...

@randybear I've heard M is 4th on Jonathan Hickman's top 5 so she'll get more panel time. It's Betsy who I'm truly concerned about because Dazzler and Jubilee made it on the new X series covers but not our lady Psylocke.

Rictor appeared with a new costume in Shatterstar's mini series so he gets his love.

Rahsaan said...

@Jaime,

I get all your points.

Synch is a beautiful character and his optimism was so damn contangious. His power is very similar to Hopes sans her ability to activate mutations, but he is a much more enjoyable character than her with her ties to the Phoenix.

As for Cecilia and Armor, I love them both, butI'd take Cecilia any day of the week over Hisako just, because the native Brooklynite in me digs her native New Yorker attitude and her street smarts, and I loved her sardonic wit with Iceman, Marrow, and the others.

Maggot... I like him, but his power set literally makes my stomach turn.

Sooraya is an awesome character and I miss her being in the fold. Where is she these days?

What about Prodigy? I think he was part of a brewing love triangle with Wiccan and Hulking over in Young Avengers last I read? I miss him in the X-books.

Rahsaan said...

Actually, Hickman may bring Sunfire back into the fold, as Bobby is in his top five mutants and I take that to mean Roberta Da Costa; not Robert Drake.

Jaime Braz said...

@Rahsaan you mean Sunspot right? Sunfire is the Japanese samurai mutant always at odds with the X-Men. It's a yes and no for Roberto for the reason he is on top of the world being liaison between the Avengers and USDOD as the owner of A.I.M. Sunspot is the most influential and wealthy mutant next to Sebastian Shaw and Warren Worthington 3rd. If he is written by Hickman he better not forget about all that and Sunspot's connection to the Hellfire Club.

Hope is good dead, give me Synch over her any day. It was discussed at a press panel that Synch and Darwin are the keys to mutant evolution based on their multiple sets of genes. I'm sure if they faced Thanos wielding the Infinity Gauntlet they'd win.

Cecilia it is! She is a doctor and very loyal to the Xavier dream, Marvel has to give her a codename and cool suit.

Maggott is a unique mutant I'm glad he returned. His power is not as gross as it should be - moving intestines like tentacles out his abdomen. Instead he has Eeny and Meeny two cute metal roly polies who can spew acids and eat anything non stop. Let him grow on you because he is actual African representation with Storm and Gentle.

Dust chose to remain at Utopia with the Street team why she wasn't sucked by X-Man with the rest of the X-Men into his reality. Luckily she wasn't killed like Loa, Blindfold, Velocidad and Strong Guy, however I don't know where she is.

Prodigy is in limbo I guess for remaining a depowered mutant. If he is repowered someday he needs to stop being an intellectual type of Synch and develop an offensive ability. Characters like Cypher and Prodigy are difficult to write because they require tons of imagination.

Rahsaan said...

@Jaime, yes. I mistyped Sunfire. I meant Sunspot. Hickman wrote him on Avengers and from what I heard totally utilized his capitalistic influence.

I felt that Cypher was great post-resurrection with the twists on him seeing combat as language and thus learning how to physically fight. If Moonstar is out here diving into battle sans powers, I feel that Cypher and Prodigy with their power sets can be written for.

And regarding Synch and Darwin, I'd love to see that evolutionary element developed further with the inclusion of characters like Cecilia, Beast and Madison Jeffries teaming up for the project as researchers/scientists.

randybear said...

I miss XClub and isnt Dani repowered? Unless its artists error but Larroca has drawn her on panel using her psionic bow and arrow in #14

Rahsaan said...

@randy, as far as I know, she is still depowered. Unless something with the transmode fixes her genome. or it could be one of those covers that we'd sometimes get during Jubilee's vampire days where she'd be depicted using her fireworks.

Jaime Braz said...

@Rahsaan I'm cautious about writers who are advertised as saviors for an endangered franchise. Hickman writes good stories and takes the characters' personalities seriously and my concern lies in the time journey that will shake up the mutant universe. I hope it won't change too much X-lore retroactively because mutant history is complicated as it is.

Mirage or Moonstar has Valkyrie powers that Hela restored therefore she is not helpless in battle. Also Matthew Rosenberg promised to shed light on how her mutant powers really work and if the T-O virus can heal the Scarlet Witch effect. Mirage is simultaneously in 616 reality and Age of X-Man. Maybe it's a soul self split surrounding her mutant abilities.

Funny you mentioned Jeffries while I always thought Forge must have had his powers although it would cheapen his inventive talent. I doubt Synch will be explored ever for nobody seems to remember or care.

randybear said...

I'm glad she has her Valkyrie abilities at the least. I always wished she maintained those powers full time after she was de powered.

Jaime Braz said...

@randybear me too. As it is Marvel has a great lack of Native American superheroes and mutants. Warpath was recently killed by Stryfe and I'm afraid he will remain dead like his brother Thunderbird. Forge is the desktop background they barely set. Which leaves us with only two Native Americans Mirage and Sunspot.

And for those who cry for lack of Asians they should take a look at Sunfire, Sunpyre, Karma, Jubilee, Mondo, Xorn, Surge, Sway, Armor, Zero, Sprite, Nature Girl and Hindsight.

Rahsaan said...

@Jaime,

Wait. James was killed!?!? That sucks!

Also, Sunspot isn't Native American. His dad is afro-Brazilian and his mom is American anglo/white if I recall.

Jaime Braz said...

@Rahsaan I was under the impression Sunspot was South Native American. Well even worse we're left with a single Native American still alive - Mirage. Forge is detained in Nate's pocket reality for now.

Yes Warpath was skewered by Stryfe in X-Force. Don't know if it's a fatal wound but he dropped like a fly.

Talking about deaths Wolfsbane joined Loa, Velocidad, Blindfold, Bliss, Strong Guy and Joseph in the afterlife. At least that's what Mirage's death sense told.

randybear said...

Velocidad died? I guess the only Mexican mutant is Rictor. Oh well.

I'm sure Strong Guy, Blindfold, Wolfsbane and Warpath will all be back at some point.
