I would like to see something involving alternatives between the gold and blue team and also the australian outback team.
The possibility that they use this situation to turn her story less confusing exists, let´s see how it all turns out.

Taz,

No Newlocke here. :-)

@Eduardo. I would LOVE a revisit to the Outback era. So many stories could have been done. The Psylocke I write is British Betsy from that era. It's my way of keeping it alive.

@Rahsaan I know right!

I soooo miss British Psylocke that was intelligent, creative and bold with her powers from that time! It was just priceless to be surprised time and again by her doings that time! Remender also brought back some of her intelligence and boldness, but the writers that came after him couldn't keep the hype!

Eduardo,
Many of us do. I really don't see why Marvel can't restore her, just with her acquired fighting skills as that was what Claremont had in mind as his endgame for her. I'd even be cool with her having no telekinesis if they did that. Truth be told, I miss her having her random precognitive flashes and would take those over her telekinetic arsenal of weapons that make her über corny, like some fake ass one-woman army.

That is true! The fact that Remender did an execellent job is the proof that it is possible without all this. This event having almost everyone killed looks just like the easiest way out!
Let's see how far their creativity will go by doing this event. If they can't handle to write her properly, they are having a good chance to fix that.

You know, I was going to say again that Betsy probably will never get her original body again, that the Asian body is more recognizable by the general readers, that new readers could get confused by another body swap...

...and then some news these past weeks about Marvel leaving the X-Men out of their merchandise made me realize: they just don't care about the X-Men brand's popularity anymore. They don't care if the choices they make for the X-Men will make people more interested in them - in fact, one could argue that maybe Marvel WANTS to make readers stop reading the X-Men and move on to other titles. And, if this impression is true, maybe Psylocke CAN be restored to her original body, after all, since Marvel wouldn't care if people would like this change. Maybe they could even do it to harm her appearance in FOX's film (since Olivia Munn has Asian features).

The ironic part is: I can see somehow Marvel deciding to restore Betsy to her original body as a way to make the X-Men from comics more different from the X-Men from films... and then being surprised when many people turn out to LIKE that change.

Personally, I would be fine with her being back in her original body, as long as some conditions were fulfilled:

1) She would still have her ninja skills and the psi-knife;
2) The explanation for the new body-swap wouldn't be another mess (maybe after Secret Wars the Beyonder will restore everyone to how they were supposed to be, and in Betsy's case it will mean she will be back to her original body);
3) That this is the REAL Betsy, the Earth-616 Betsy, not an alternate-Earth Betsy replacing the one we've been following for decades.

I liked her in both incarnations, but let's accept it, telepathic ninja Psylocke is the definitive version for Marvel in any current story. Characters evolve, and pidgeon-holeing Psylocke into something she used to be is a disservice to the character. It's kind of like people waiting for Emma Frost to become a villain again... it's not going to happen. I'm a fan of Psylocke, as she is now, and going forward.

I'm definitely on board for Brit ninja psylocke badass for a return (where she's there to stay)

We'll know after Secret wars. I think she'll go back one day. Marvel hints at it far too much, and Munns casting can be for either body. Years ago I didn't even know she was asian. As a Black man I speak perfect Japanese. So i don't consider it a thing when others do. I hope Secret wars shakes things up. Even though I hate the event. I do love seeing British armour Betsy, and people interested in her, in that way again.
Icons change, but as long as she's written well. I'm okay if they leave her Eurasian.
