If this wasn't captioned I'd think this was an art piece from Jim Lee from some point in the early 90's.

Seriously, Alex. Everyone is looking so classic...especially Psylocke.

1. I kinda want Kitty to go back to the blue Shadowcat costume if we can’t find a cool uniform for her. It is the only nice one she has ever had.

2. I don’t get the appeal to many of Jean and Havok’s 90s uniforms.

3. Seeing Cable here has me thinking I would love for Extermination Cable to stick around. He’s like an interesting combo of Nathan Summers and Nate Grey.

By the way, if you dig Philip Tan and have an Instagram account, he is a cool follow. Before I deleted IG, I used to enjoy his posts.

Seeing Rachel like this brings back memories. Excalibur, Alan Davis...
A time when the Phoenix was a controllable force without drama and endless issues about nonsense.
Why couldn't they have kept it simpler...

@Rashaan,

I think an update to Kitty's blue uniform would be good. I kinda hate that while she's the head of the institute now her uniform is basically a trainee outfit with a popped collar.

@Alexis, Rachel was titalky the best Phoenix host. Oddly enough, the Phoenix makes Jean a mess while Ray has seemed messier without.

@Alex, the popped color actually make it look worse to me. Granted, she doesn’t need a face mask, but she needs something more individual. I actually like that none of the X-Men wear eye masks anymore. It’s pretty pointless since everyone knows their civilian identities. I also kinda appreciate that some of them like Jean and Kitty (the ones with the worst uniforms paradoxically) no longer go by code names/aliases. At this point, there really is no need for them. Unless, we think of them as akin to military callsigns.

@ Chisolm ....so true about Rachel and Jean

Rahsaan said...

Yeah. Rachel actually struck me as way more mature durinb Excalibur’s first volume than she has been in recent years.

Am I revising history or recalling wrong?

Looks awesome. Jean and Betsy look great.

Alexis said...

@ Chisolm. Yes she was. Alan Davis drew her with more muscle tone.

Rahsaan said...

LOL. I meant personality-wise; not athleticism. Though she did look fitter back then.

Alexis said...

haha. Sorry. A bit more mature, though Captain Britain always considered her a star 'child.'

Rahsaan said...

In fact, Alan Davis is aweome at drawing athletic body types for his characters. I so miss his work.

this is the last hurrah of Jim Lees X-men, feels like the team can never move past that style. The Nostalgia is cool, as I appreciate Jeans and Rogues looks, despise Psylockes, and the rest are just there lol.
Marvel no more Jim Lee please.
