To be fair, it seems the idea was to get the classic uniforms for each character, and well... the Hand bathing suit IS Psylocke's most classic uniform.
Then again, Dazzler isn't wearing her sparkly catsuit with long hair and face paint... In fact, she should return to that look; it's still the best look she ever had!
To be frank I don't care what the consensus says about the cameltoe clipper of the Hand. It's ugly af and impractical.
As a woman I get serious skin rash and pain feeling just by looking at it. It'd be interesting as an experiment to get a cosplayer do stunts and martial shenanigans in it to give an honest opinion how deep it went up her Shangri-La.
A shout out to Psylocke's Captain Britain, pink onesie and Australian armor that predated the coochie-cutter would be a refreshing change in covers.
Praise Dazzler's Disco outfit! Preach preach preach! I like it the best with the face paint because I'm quirky and love fashion overstatement. The slutty minimalism of ninja Psylocke annoys me.
@Alexis, I agree. Specifically, about the old Rachel. The old Rachel was supposed to be the one true host, before all the Jean retcons. Also, the okd Rachel was written way more mature once she came into her own. The last decade has not been kind to Ray in terms of writing. She is now a hot mess and I’m afraid it would take something more than reintegrating with the Phoenix Force to make her well again.
I really appreciate that Rogue seems to be drawn at her best here. That is, specifically with big hair and white streak down the middle. I have hate how Rogue has been drawn for the last two decades now. We need a return to this look. Fuck that white patch in the front only. And whenever her hair is straight and sleek, it doesn’t suit her character at all. It’s like the Fox film Rogue who sucked. I blame Bryan Singer; not Anna Paquin as Anna’s Sookie Stackhouse is easily more Rogue that Singer’s Rogue.
I look forward to seeing Tan’s rendition of restored Psylocke one day versus Hand Psylocke. 💜
@randybear... Yeah. Kitty's style gets worse as time goes on.I actualy don't mind her current haircut. It looks nice depending on the artists, but that uniform is frumpy as all hell. Ever since she took to wearing the student uniform. When she first returned to the team, she at least still had the bigger, wavy hair. They slowly got rid of that over time. To this day, Kitty's best look is her Shadowcat one from the late 80s depicted in this cover. If we could get an updated version of that sans the mask, I would be content. I don't understand the need for masks on characters like Jean and Wolvie. At this point, the X-Men's real identities are known, so why the need for masks? Also, it's inconsistent as most of the team does not wear masks or seems very concerned with hiding their faces. Unless the masks are protective in battle?
Yeah I love how Cassaday drew her hair way back in Astonishing but after that artists like Stuart Immonen (sp) started drawing it in the generic slick pony tail.
I digress though cause Kitty one of my least fave XMen anyway hahah

Tsk tsk. Philip Tan of all the Psylocke designs you stick to the ninja cameltoe clipper.
Most people aren't head over heels for the pink onesie so show love to the Australian armor.
A little effort for a change won't hurt.

I love Rachel as Phoenix. To me, she’s the most stable version and host.

Same for Kitty. She used to have fun curly thick hair and now it's always pin straight.

Are we sure this is meant to be Rachel and not Dark Phoenix?
Probably is Jean as she looks evil with the glowing eyes haha most likely dark Phoenix jean not Rachel
Yeah, it's Dark Phoenix (who we may consider as the Phoenix Force pretending to be Jean or as Jean herself, since Bendis ignored the cocoon retcon).
But Rachel appears right below X-23, so it's okay.
Her pose on this cover is awful. Wtf is she doing? Shes like "yo! Dont fux wit me!"
Just glad this turd isnt doing the interior art
she looks amazing here! great job philip tan!!!!!
