#tbt: X-Men #78 – The Crimson Dawn saves Psylocke once again and resurrects her, this time with an all black psi-form and the ability to command the shadows of the Psionic Plane, which allow her to go undetected by the Shadow King. Betsy feels extreme guilt over what she has done and devises a plan and confronts the Shadow King, who fails to tempt her to his side. The Shadow King stretches his powers to the maximum to infect every mind on Earth. Psylocke discovers that the Shadow King has left his nexus exposed and uses her shadows to trap him, but only as long as she focuses her telepathy on him, which means she can never use her powers again or else he will be free. #tbt: X-Men #77 – Psi-War, Part 1
#tbt: X-Men #77 – Storm battles Ananasi and is aided by Psylocke, who reveals that the “god” is a telepath. In the Psionic Plane, the two women find the villagers’ minds set up in a distinct patter. Before they can discern the reasoning, Ananasi attacks Psylocke and brings up her past failures and how she was always considered a redundant Jean Grey-wannabe. Psylocke falls into Ananasi’s trap and accidentally hits one of the villagers, which causes a reaction that cripples the entire psionic plan, as well as all psi-sensitive in the corporeal world. Psylocke is left as a discombobulated mess, as Ananasi reveals himself to be the Shadow King, now free of any opposition on the Psionic Plane!. Written by Joe Kelly and Art by German Garcia. #tbt: X-Men #38
#tbt: X-Men #38 – In the psychic plane, Psylocke is about to confront Jean Grey. Jean reminds her that this exercise is designed to help her refine her telepathic abilities. Betsy offers a very belated apology for flirting with Cayclops, although she was certainly influenced by Kwannon’s more sensuous presence in her mind, the truth is, it was she who found Scott to be very attractive. #tbt: X-Men Annual #2 – The Revanche Saga, Chapter 7
#tbt: X-Men Annual #2 – Pyro explains that the island is going to be a haven, a refuge for the dying - and then reveals that is why he has come here, because he has contracted the Legacy Virus. The Beast points out that Chambers is an energy vampire, and argues with Toad. Pyro makes it clear that he wants to stay on the island and let Chambers use his powers on him, as it alleviates his pain, before Revanche tells the X-Men that they should leave, as it is not their place to get involved in the decisions of Pyro and Chambers - and she knows best because, like Pyro, she reveals that she also has the Legacy Virus. Chambers assures the X-Men that he merely wants to offer afflicted mutants comfort, and as the X-Men prepare to leave, Gyrich reveals his presence, announcing that they believe illegal activities are being perpetrated on people against their will. Cyclops hesitates, before confirming that nothing illegal is taking place on the island. Chambers has some harsh words for Gyrich, before Chambers invites Revanche to stay on the island. She declines his offer, and the X-Men warn Chambers to practice what he preaches. The X-Men then depart the island, leaving the Brotherhood behind. #tbt: X-Men #22 – The Revanche Saga, Chapter 3
#tbt: X-Men #22 – In the state of Lord Nyoirin, the X-Men do battle with the Silver Samurai, whom they manage to defeat. After the fight, Gambit finds a scroll behind the torn painting of Psylocke/Kwannon they noticed earlier. It is Nyoirin's diary. The X-Men study Nyoirin's diary. Written in Japanese, Psylocke says that she cannot read it. Angered, the British Betsy uses her Psi-blade on Psylocke to explain what the scroll said and to mind probe Psylocke to see what she recalls. Through Psylocke's memories, the X-Men see Kwannon on a shipping dock where she finds Betsy Braddock unconscious just after she emerged from the Siege Perilous. Kwannon tries to help Betsy but when they touch both their minds merge and the two people become one mind in two bodies. With the memory finished, Psylocke, who feels angry about what she considers lies from Betsy, attacks her, forcing Gambit to step in and break up the fight. Suddenly, Lord Nyoirin arrives and explains to the two female X-Men that both of them are Kwannon and both of them are Betsy Braddock. Written by Fabian Nicieza and Art by Andy Kubert. #tbt: X-Men #21 – As the X-Men question her loyalty, Psylocke tries to remind her teammates that when it comes to trust she should have earned it by now. Enraged, the British Betsy attacks Psylocke, saying that Psylocke is lying about who she is. Xavier stops them and is then taken aside by Wolverine. Wolverine explains to Xavier that his senses tell him that both women are Betsy Braddock, and both are not. They both agree that the only way to answer their questions is to go to Lord Nyoirin's house for the answers. In Tokyo, the X-Men use Nyoirin's absence to their advantage and sneak into his house, only to discover a picture of Psylocke, labelled Kwannon, in Lord Nyoirin's study. As the X-Men digest the revelation of the painting they are surprised by the Silver Samurai, who slices the Beast's back with his sword. Written by Fabian Nicieza and Art by Brandon Peterson. “For so long, my life has been out of control. Chaos and serendipity, wrapped in insanity. I have suffered, I have lost. Not just my life, but my very soul, my self. But no more. Now I know who I am.” – Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Braddock, daughter of Otherworld, mutant, telepath, telekinetic, defender of the realm and, above all, X-Man.
