Recap 2021 — The End of Excalibur
The year saw the conclusion of Excalibur with issue #26 in December. Looking back at 2021, the complicated situation between Betsy Braddock and Kwannon was the focus of many stories. Ultimately, both women were left on good terms with each other. A big crossover between all X-Books, called the Hellfire Gala, was published in June; however, it had little impact on Betsy or Excalibur.
Tini Howard’s Excalibur concluded with an all-out war between Excalibur and the forces of King Arthur. Regrettably, Betsy’s out-of-character portrayal under Howard’s pen left a lot to be desired and many fans disappointed with Betsy’s role as Captain Britain. Hopefully, Knights of X would bring the improvements that were desperately needed.
