X-Men Monday #77 – Jordan D. White Answers Your X of Swords Week 2 Questions

AiPT!: X-Men Senior Editor Jordan D. White joins AiPT! to answer your questions about "X of Swords", including new details about Al Ewing and Valerio Schiti’s upcoming S.W.O.R.D. series!

AIPT: In X of Swords: Creation #1, we learn that Otherworld is divided into vassal states and that key characters like Roma, Merlyn, the Fury and Mad Jim Jaspers are hanging around offscreen. Do you think Otherworld has the potential to become the X-Men’s response to Asgard?

Jordan: Oh, well I hope not, because I think Asgard is real boring–Otherworld is way cooler than Asgard. I mean, yeah, sure. I think that’s a neat idea. I think that there are a lot of ideas. So, I was dancing around Otherworld last week when you were asking me about Jonathan and Tini creating the mythology of things–the backstory of Arakko and Amenth. And I was forgetting that it’s not public knowledge that there’s a lot more going on with Otherworld than we’ve seen in the past.

There’s a lot in it, and how it’s used going forward, I think will end up being fun. I mean, it’s weird to call another dimension that has these giant realms within it another piece on the board, but it’s another piece on the board. Maybe it’s another 10 boards that were put on the table next to the pieces and yeah, I mean, there’s a lot there and there’s a lot that can be mined from it. Both in this story and in the future.

Disappointing there's only 1 Sword chapter out this week :( Wish we could have gotten the handbook this week but the entries included might have some spoilers

When was Cecilia brought back? She will remain Cecilia Reyes forever in the sidelines. See that is my problem so many diverse characters to develop and push but Marvel always pushes gimmicks like Ninjalocke. They will never learn.

Karma lost a leg and an eye while Ninjalock stealing the name Psylocke from Betsy and butterfly is fine. Dawn of X is one age old and Sunfire, Nature Girl, Surge, Zero, Sway are M.I.A. We need more Al Ewings at the Marvel office.

I dont understand why all the body destruction on poor Karma its a bit much. I mean shes already a POC who's also LGBT then they felt she also had to represent another group lol

I wish Hellion would come back he has prosthetic hands and was always interesting to me.

Its kinda boring how the go to xkids are normally just Pixie Anole and Rockslide. Occasionally we get an Armor or Glob as well but that's usually it. There's so many xkids that aren't used yet they chose the same small pool.

Anyway Betsy rules and even though I complain about her costume I lowkey love her Otherworld armor more than her 616 default armor. (Which literally most readers don't even notice they're different lol)

@Randybear Ororo should lead. Ororo has the experience and connections to Wakanda and amnesty as queen to join talks with the UN and forums. Storm is no thug pirate and has no deals with the Hellfire Club and Emma. The hypocrisy of the company about diversity is big as Krakoa. Cheapening Storm to a baby sitter with some virus and they be all for diversity don't fool me.

Karma is thrown the same ish like Storm. She could be pulling major cash with Sunspot from their companies to help mutants outside Krakoa and by Marvel choice Xian loses limbs and organs.

I swear if Jim Lee dressed Karma with the Hand suit first she would be plastered all over the web and geek walls.

Betsy looks better in lightweight uniforms. Low-cuts that don't whorify her.
The Alan Davis Captain Britain suit and Clay Mann Age of X tuxedo-dress are contenders.

Betsy's old Captain Britain cut-out was given to Meggan and colored green. Betsy is the giver and they say givers are the happiest people. Is she though with all the thefts done against her?

"Ororo has the experience and connections to Wakanda and amnesty as queen to join talks with the UN and forums"

Does she? I remember in AvX Black Panther declared their marriage was no longer valid, she was no longer queen, and she was actually forbidden from ever returning to Wakanda (in T'Challa's defense, he said the Wakandan people demanded him to do that, even though he was against Ororo's banishment). Ororo even said that after Phoenix!Namor's attack on Wakanda, the Wakandan people hated her even more than they hated other mutants.

Did they get married again after that, or have the Wakandan people accepted her back?

T'Challa listened to his people. He and Ororo have separated for the Phoenix attack without the official divorce shown. I don't know how traditions work in Wakanda. The way Ororo is welcomed by Shuri calls the divorce into question. The African sword for XoS is Wakandan could Storm get it if she wasn't royalty?
