Moneta wants the world to burn I take it.

Probably. She seems to have a mean side despite her funny accent.

Is that Jubilee on the cover? She looks great!

In fact, there are some interesting covers for July... Nate banishing Beast from the O5 history, Captain Apocalypse, Emma looking crazy... and the mysteries about Moneta's identity and Moonstar simultaneously existing in both realities.

By the way, are you guys following all the AoXM tie-ins? None of them reached my country yet (and I stopped reading scans a couple years ago), but it seems Bishop's adventures in prison are being quite praised. And some people are saying Marvelous X-Men is very interesting IF the reader is also following the other tie-ins, as apparently it is strongly influenced by the simultaneous stories.

That is a cool cover with Jubilee.

I do hope they give her an actual updated design when this event is over.

@FSaker, a cool twist could be if Moneta is actually a new Legion alter and that is why she doesn't exist prior to this. If I wanted to explain her new existence, I would write it as Legion splintered again with all the trauma of Nate taking over his mind and body.

@Vigmed, yes please!!! Jubilee needs to move away from the mallrat 90s look. At this point, I'd take her Wondra costume over the throwback shorts, tee, coat getup she returned to!

The cover is really neat. I guess the side profile is Psylocke?

That is jubilee in both shots, right?

randybear said...

Omg! The profile is 616 Jubilee. Just now seeing it haha

@Rahsaan Chisolm the idea Moneta being a fraction of Legion is amazing. I wonder how many alters of Legion have materialized in Age of X-Man.

Mirage's dual existence may have to do with her duality as Moonstar and Valkyrie. Now she is a trifecta hit infected with the T-O virus.

Is Karma fused with her brother? In lost souls she fooled Magik to fish him out of hell. I can't explain how the T-O virus possesses two minds at the same time.

@Vigmed not only should Jubilee get a costume update but her powers need to explore her nuclear nature. She doesn't shoot fireworks because her plasma blasts are explosive fission.

@Jaime, re: Jube's power... Agreed. I'm bored of her holding back out of fear. She's been doing that for like 30 years now ever since She blew up Mandarin's home. Like with Rogue, we need to get past the nascent expression of her powers already.

Speaking of Rogue, has she still not regained control of her power? If so, that's super annoying as the character was great finally being in full control.

@Rahsaan,
Yeah they're still back out of control. Wouldn't be Marvel without moving forward after 30 years of stagnation then immediately retreating back to poke at a dead horse.

I'd love Jubilee to get some power development. In the right hands she's proven a great & capable leader. She can think for herself despite being trained by Scott/Logan/Emma/Sean & was possibly one of the most powerful Gen-X kids. Shame Marvel seems to toss her aside every other few years.

@Alex, re: Rogue: SMH... If Carey's explanation was that her lack of control was her own baggage over Cody, then has Marvel explained why Wonder Man powers would make her lose control? Are they saying she is traumatized all over again? These editors are the pits.

Benjamin Hutton said...

Rogue has been a mess since she passed out of Carey's hands.

The latest bad decision is that she doesn't need to touch people to absorb them, she can do it at a distance. Cue massive eye role.

Anyway, in the latest arc of Mrs & Mrs X they've gone back to the well of 'she can subconsciously control her powers, she just isn't'.

randybear said...

Benjamin, so essentially like Hope? I hate how they keep messing with her powers. I lost track of wtf is going on with her since Remender snatched her for Avengers.

Benjamin Hutton said...

What Carey did with Rogue is one of my favourite comic runs ever. It's hands down the best Rogue run ever. Ditto for how he handled Magneto and Gambit too.

And I was absolutely against Rogue gaining control of her powers, but he completely made it work.

Rogue in that run was a mature young woman, coming into her power, both figuratively and literally.

Remember hitting the reset button on her and making her a super-strong brat who couldn't control her powers again was a massive disservice and she's never recovered.

It's also why I'll never read another Remender comic again.

I know he did some good things with Psylocke in "Uncanny X-Force", but he did some equally as stupid things. I've always found him to be extremely overrated as a writer and, perhaps more importantly, a plotter of comics.

I just miss carefree 90s Rogue. I lost major interest in her when Claremont gutted her in Xtreme Xmen and she became powerless and took up a CC cliche biker bondage outfit
